Chapter 9: My Brother is a Serial Killer

Emily’s P.O.V

Months had passed since we found out about the escape of Connor Wailand  and Alex’s pregnancy. Her baby bump was showing now well more than showing she had to by herself an entirely new wardrobe to keep her belly from peeking out from underneath her shirts. She had gotten extremely close to one particular boy Jayden Parkinson. They were more than close they were dating. Jayden cared for Alex he knew the situation she was in and didn’t push her away or judge her because of it.

We had just returned from a case in Montana when Sean McCallister my old section chief from Interpol called me. He asked me to meet up with him in a small dinner. I agreed with to meet with him because he was more than my unit chief he was a friend and could tell when he was worried.
“Emily Prentiss,” he stood and said as I entered the dinner
“Sean, how are you,” I replied smiling as we greeted each other with a hug
“Good,” he said half heartedly
“I was going to call you back I just got busy on a case,”
“I get that I needed to be in DC anyway,” he leant forward and turned very serious, “Ian Doyle escaped from prison, Interpol can’t find him,”
“wha… What are you saying,” I stuttered at the news just given to me
“he’s of the grid Emily,”
“do you think he’s headed here?” I asked but the look in Sean’s eyes gave me the answer to my question “am I in danger?”
“We all are,”
“do the others know Tsia, Clyde and Jeremy?” I asked worried about my friends I was upset about leaving them when I did we tried to keep in contact as much as possible
“I told them first before I came to DC,” he replied “Emily you can’t tell this to your team if Doyle truly does come to DC you will only put them in danger,”
“what about Alex, Doyle killed her mother, what do I tell Declan,” I asked my thoughts going at a million miles an hour
“don’t tell anything to either of them, as far as they are concerned nothing is wrong, and as far as Doyle is concerned Declan is dead you made sure of that,” he said calmly
I wanted to yell at him scream punch him everything as wrong in Alex’s life. She was pregnant. She would most likely be worried that the child would end up like its father. Scared that Wailand was going to hurt the peoples she cared about. And on top of that the man that had killed her mother was now coming to DC.

I felt bad keeping my life before the BAU a secret, but everyone has secrets. I had been working with the team for eight years but I never thought that my past would come back and put them I danger. Back when I was working with Interpol I was asked to go undercover as a weapons dealer for terrorist cells. I was told to get personal with one particular terrorist cell known as Valhalla. The leader of the cell was Ian Doyle. Clyde Easter my boss at the time told me to pretend to be in love with Doyle. So that he would let me into his personal life. Doyle asked me to move in with him and Clyde told me to live with him. I befriended a small child whom I thought was the house keepers son but was actually Doyle’s, Doyle asked me to be his sons godmother I agreed eventually we managed to arrest Doyle who was sent to a Russian prison and I was made Declan’s guardian. I staged the death of Declan and of the house keeper Maria. They now live in Virginia. Declan goes to boarding school and only Maria, one of my friends Jarred and I are able to take him off campus.

I feared what would happen if Doyle found out he was alive.

Alex’s P.O.V

Every morning I was puking I could barley eat half a piece of toast some mornings without having to rush to the closest bathroom. It made it hard when we had to start work early. We would be barley half way through a briefing when I had to run out of the room sometimes I knew I wouldn’t make it to the bathroom and just went to the window often causing Morgan to stand up and rub my back for a bit. Until the vomiting stop everybody looked worried about me. I knew David wanted me to get an abortion but it was too late. Besides I am totally against the idea of ending the life of a child before they are even born. I have seen too many cases where a childhood is taken away from someone but the memories of that innocence will remain I don’t want to take away the chance to give someone that innocence even if it get stolen from them like so many others.

We started working on a case where two families had been killed in two different house fires in the same city. The Cosenzas and the Fagans were all found in the master bedroom of their two story houses in the middle of DC. We were in the middle of a briefing when Emily came in. she looked nervous “sorry what did I miss, arsonist?” she questioned to hide both her nerves and her lateness
“one appears to be murder suicide the other appears to be a freak accident,” Morgan replied
“so why are we looking at it?” she asked
“House fires are rare and to that a few miles apart and in the same hour kind of tips the scales of coincidence.” David tilted his head with his words
“Yeah if someone did this they would have to be highly motivated and organized,”  Reid explained further
“and if he wants to strike again he has 72 hours before this storm shuts the city down,” Hotch stood as he spoke and walked out of the room.

Everybody left I was a bit woozy so I got stuck behind Emily who was being probed by Garcia
“what’s his name?” Garcia said directly
“I’m sorry?”asked Emily generally confused
“Oh answering a question with a question with a question that’s interesting,” smirked Garcia her blue eyes intending to find the answer to her question
“stop it,” Emily sounded exhausted
“what probing,” asked Garcia
“seriously,” Emily seriously was exhausted
“ I’m going to make it my life’s work to find out who this boy is,” her words pounding out of her with great enthusiasm
“stop it, just stop okay,” Emily had lost the exhausted tone and was now pissed off.
She stormed away and Garcia turned to me shocked. I shrugged my shoulders. I had no clue why Emily would be so secretive. Actually I guess I did know she was either keeping something from us to keep us safe or she didn’t know how to tell us without an expected overreaction.

Hotch asked David, Emily and I, to go to the Fagan’s house to see if we could get anything from the crime scene, on the way down the front steps David was a little ahead of Emily and myself.
“Sergio is not going to be happy,” I whispered to Emily
“how do you figure that,” she whispered back, “he’s a cat,”
“he’s not going to be happy to find out that your hiding him from the most eccentric person on the planet,”
she smiled at my comment “something gives me the feeling that he will thank me later,”

We both laughed at Garcia’s flamboyant style

The rest of the day past in a bit of a blur. Morgan asked me and Emily to take go with him to the house of the latest victim Bryan Delany. As we got out of the car four figures started emerging out of the building, “Alex, Prentiss get down,” I heard Morgan yell as he ran around the back of the car. Shots rang out of automatic weapons like aggravated wasps. They ricocheted of the cars smashing the class clean out of the back windscreen. The four men all wore black beanies and white masks. They were all dressed in completely black outfits that reminded me of the clothes the military wore. But it was the masks that worried me. They looked exactly like the ones the men who killed and raped my mother wore.  Emily managed to return fire to one of the men the shot got him straight in the leg severing his venereal artery when Hotch and David arrived Morgan Emily and I looked over the “ he is just a kid he couldn’t be any older then Reid,” Emily grimaced
“a kid with an illegal assault weapon that’s not just a kid Prentiss,”
“he took four rounds in total,” Morgan stuck out his toe and indicated the wound in his leg “that one’s yours,”
“he was dead and they knew it,”
“he took 2 to the head and one to the wrist,” I said  “why the wrist,”

Morgan bent down and removed the mask before taking a closer look at the wrist “there’s a tattoo here or what’s left of one,” I wasn’t focused on the wrist anymore the face of the victim struck nothing but fear into my heart it was the man who forced me to kill my mother one of the two who removed their masks two kept their masks on two took them off. I would recognize this face anywhere, but what had confused me was that this man refused to rape my mother while the others took turns, he said stuff about incest that’s why he didn’t rape her. Whenever my mother asked who they were or what they wanted he leaned in real close and said ‘surely you should recognize me, I am your son after all.’

I felt my eyes widen. “Parker,” I mumbled barely audible
“sorry what was that?” Morgan asked with a questioning glance,
“oh its nothing, I’m going to see what Hotch and Dave found,” I said covering up my sudden realization, Morgan and Emily stared after me as I readjusted my beret and shoved my hands deeper into my pockets. I walked into the small apartment to see Hotch removing the man’s shoe. David was watching like it was the most normal thing in the world. I on the other hand looked at Hotch like he had gone mad. Hotch separated the big toe from the other toes to check something
“injected between the toes,” Hotch confirmed
“made it look like a heart attack ,”agreed David before turning to me “what did you find downstairs,”
I turned my head to the ground I didn’t want to tell Hotch about parker only David I raised my head to hide the fact that I was hiding something , “ he was very young he couldn’t be older then Reid, the shot Emily landed would of killed him but it was the two bullets to the head that did kill him, he was also shot in the wrist to hide a tattoo maybe Reid or someone from the linguistics department could find the tattoo,” I said informatively. I knew in my heart the tattoo would be a four leave clover like the one scared just above my pelvis. Parker had carved it there,

“let’s get back to the BAU maybe the others would have found something Garcia was supposed to be talking to the journo about why he pulled the story,” Hotch said and neither of us argued.  I was used to being in crime scenes but not while the dead were there. blood splatters, broken tables yes I guess you get use to them but seeing the people it makes it a whole lot harder sometimes especially knowing my brother help kill all six victims because of something that most likely happened sometime ago in Europe.

On the way down the steps David stopped me “Alex what’s the matter,”
“nothing, I’m fine,” I lied and he saw straight through me, he raised an eyebrow and hinted that he wasn’t done probing, I turned my head to the others  and raised both my eyebrows saying ‘I don’t want the others to know I will tell you later,’

He got the message and walked me over to the car where the others were just about to get in. we drove back to BAU where Garcia almost crashed tackled Hotch with information. The journalist had told her to follow the money and that lead her to the people who had told the same journo to pull the story it turns out that the three Europeans all worked for the same company Ron Cosenza, Kerry Fagan and Bryan Delany all worked for the same company. Clear water securities, also known as CWS.

As we were discussing it Reid was sketching madly Garcia finished relaying the information, as Reid’s pencil stopped sketching, “got it,” he announced holding up a sketch of a four leafed clover the tattoo of the man Emily shot. My eyes widened and my hand went to my scar Garcia and Morgan both noticed so I pretended to have cramps from my pregnancy.

Morgan Emily Hotch and David had a meeting with the heads of CWS. I sat pondering in the bullpen I was finding it extremely difficult to sit still for more than ten minutes at a time Reid noticed how fidgety I was. “You okay?” he asked “you’re more fidgety than normal,”
“I don’t know anymore,” I sighed, “ one moment I’m perfectly happy, the next I either want to break down and cry or punch something,”
“it’s your hormones,” he said simply  “it’s you getting ready to be a mum,”
“the truth is im not sure if I want to be a mum, I mean I’m only 16, what if I stuff up,” I rested my head on my hands. “what if no matter what I do they still end up like him,”

I started to cry silent tears; which Reid had gotten used to over the past three months. I had spent many nights curled up on his small couch with tissues and his hugs crying. Not knowing what to do with my life anymore.  He rolled his chair around to my desk and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, “you’re going to be a great mother like you are a great friend,” he whispered as I readjusted my sitting position so that my arms were around his neck and my head rested on his chest.

Emily and Morgan went to see another murder scene I was too much of a shamble to go with them Hotch had started the briefing with all of the task forces that had joined onto this case When they got back. Emily was standing silently at the back for most of the briefing until she  came forward placed something in the top draw of her desk and then turned to leave she soon got lost within the crowd and I could no longer see her by the time we realized what had happened it was to late.
