On 6th January, 2021 something terrible happened. Trump supporters stormed the capitol of the USA. 4 people are dead. Some hurt but most of the trump supporters and politicians are alive. Politicians were scared but luckily none of them died. Earlier that day, Trump gave a speech, that led to Trump supporters storming the capitol. Some of them had weapons, that could kill politicians.
But what was the cause? The cause was, that Trump didn't accept Joe Bidens victory for months. He was angry and when Donald is angry his supporters are angry. After all he's still the president, but in some days his life as a politician will hopefully end. So the current president gave this speech, where he said that he actually won (spoiler alert: he didn't). He seemed to be very angry because I guess he just can't lose. And most importantly he asked them to join him on a protest in front of the capitol, knowing that the situation could escalate.
That led to Trump supporters, storming the capitol. That was shocking but what shocked me most was later that day when I saw how the police reacted.
The police somehow saved the politicians but they didn't really use force against these terrorists. After all they aren't protestors. They are terrorists. Do you remember the black lives matter demonstrations earlier in spring and summer? That were peaceful protests. And the police still used tear gas and much force. They threatened the people and hurt them because they were demonstrating for justice. And then there came these trump supporters. They were storming the capitol because Trump lost the election and they and he couldn't admit that. That is domestic terrorism. And the police wasn't even reacting that angry. 4 people died. Imagine how many people died while protesting for black lives matter. And imagine how many people would have died if black and brown people had stormed the capitol.
