Adora's pov
The purple haired girl sits beaming at me as I sit gaping in disbelief. Wh-wha--HOW? I wheel on Catra, frowning.
"She's been here all this time? And alive?! Why didn't you tell us that she was at least alive?" I exclaim, watching as Catra flinches and slinks backwards.
"Perfuma's been beside herself! She's lost her flair! How could you do this?" I take short, shallow breaths as I lecture Catra, who, though afraid, scowls at me.
"If you princesses took one of us Horde members and every other member believed the one you took was dead, would you rather be all like 'oh by the way they're alive' and have another battle or break in, or would you rather just let them think the member was dead?!"
"I wouldn't have to worry about that because the only member of the Horde I've had the fantasy of kidnapping is you!"
I shout. Catra frowns at me, narrowing her eyes. "Oh, really? Why is that? And why wouldn't you have to worry about a break in?" She asks, almost tauntingly.
"Because I care about you! A lot! And no offense, but do you honestly think anyone here would risk a break in to the castle of BrightMoon to get you back to the Horde? They hardly even listen to you as a Force Commander!"
I can see immediately that my words sting, but I'm so frustrated at Catra at the moment-- for ditching me for Scorpia, for being so ignorant of everything, and for taking Entrapta, Perfuma's love of her life, away and letting everyone think she was dead --that I look back at her fiercely.
Scorpia, great ol' big scorpion lesbo she is, steps forward and wraps a protective arm around Catra.
"That was unnecessary and rude, Adora. I'll have you know that the members of the Horde listen just as well to Catra as they would listen to you or I. And I would personally lead the charge to retrieve Catra from the Rebellion."
She says, looking down at Catra fondly. Catra leans into her, smirking over at me and my bright red face.
"Hey, Adora~ you look like you've caught a case of the green eyed monster." She says, chuckling as her tail flicks in amusement.
I glare at her and continue with my telling-off. "Well, when Glimmer and Bow and the rest of the Rebellion come to get me, I'm going to personally lead them to where Entrapta is."
Entrapta looks up at the sound of her name and frowns. "But, Adora, I like it here. I don't want to leave."
I look over at her in disbelief. "But why?"
She shrugs, self consciously looking down at the device she's been building and working on. "Catra and Scorpia let me build whatever I want, and they even get me the supplies I need." She says, smiling a little.
"And besides, there's nothing back at the Rebellion for me. We just don't.. click."
I look at Entrapta confusedly. "You have Perfuma. She misses you immensely." I say softly.
Entrapta's eyes flash with emotion and she ducks her head, still tinkering. "I'm afraid that even with Perfuma waiting for me, it'll be quite an amount of waiting done on her part until I go back or she comes to me."
"Entrapta, you have to know that Perfuma needs you to come back. She's been so sad and down in the dumps. She tries to stay upbeat and positive, but she's very clearly mourning a death that she needs to know didn't even happen."
Catra scoffs over in Scorpia's hold. "Listen to yourself, Adora! You sound just as senseless and dumb as the rest of your little princess posse! This is exactly why Shadow Weaver had to personally retrieve you back to the Horde. The Rebellion has brainwashed you!"
I glare over at Catra, fuming. "No, you're the one who's been brainwashed! Honestly, you trust Shadow Weaver?! And Kyle and the rest do, too!" I shout.
Catra moves suddenly, quick as a bolt, and is soon just inches from my face, gripping the collar of my jacket and glaring at me menacingly.
"Of course I trust Shadow Weaver, Adora. She raised me. And she raised you. She raised practically all of us. I know you don't want to admit it, so I'll say it for you: somewhere, deep inside of you, you trust Shadow Weaver. Now, it's not as noticeable, being that your trust for Glitter and the rest of those princesses is much greater in quantity than your trust for Shadow Weaver, but it's there. And as long as you're in the Horde, you know better than to speak so terribly of her." I can feel her breath, coming in short and shallow gasps, tickling my face and I scowl.
"Then I'll leave. You don't seem to be very eager to see me after all-- and I see you've replaced me." I glance over Catra's shoulder at Scorpia and shake myself roughly out of her grip, turning to leave.
Catra's pov
I stop Adora from walking away, though. "I haven't replaced you, Adora. You've replaced me." She visibly stiffens and turns around to face me. "What?" I jut my chin out, nodding. "Yeah. You ran away with two complete strangers and they became your best friends, and you left me here to try and fill a huge gap that you left wide open. Do you know how hard it is to suddenly be in the place of someone so much more superior to you?"
Adora scowls. "Don't speak so belittling of yourself. And Glimmer and Bow are great, but they're not you, Catra. I care about them, but I care about you almost three times as much as I care about them. You'll always be my very best friend." She says softly.
"Oh yeah? Well, where were you when I needed you most? Running around like the silly little princess you've become! You don't know the shit I had to deal with-- all the comments and 'Oh, Adora's not here to save you, now is she?' Whenever I slipped up or did something wrong. And you were in BrightMoon with your new friends brushing each other's hair and painting each other's nails! If you really care so much about me, I'm afraid I can't take your word for it this time around." I reply.
"Oh yeah? Well, I'll fucking prove it to you, then!" Adora grabs my wrist and pulls me over to her, dipping me and pulling me into a rough kiss.
WHATTHEHECKISHAPPENING??THIS??IS??GAY??BUT I LIKE IT??
I make a noise of surprise and wrap my arms around Adora, breaking away only to catch my breath. Panting slightly, I smirk up at her.
"Seems like the tables have turned. Just a few months ago, I was the one dipping you." I say slyly.
Adora flushes and releases me, turning away. I drop roughly to the floor and laugh, standing up. "What's wrong, Adora? Cat got your tongue? Oh wait, that wasn't a French kiss, now was it?" I chuckle, standing up.
Adora's face is bright red as she searches for something to say-- another stumble as she's reaching for the right thing to say. Eventually she just shuts her mouth and looks back at me steadily.
"Do you have something you want to tell me, Adora?" I ask, crossing my arms and leaning against a nearby wall as Entrapta and Scorpia, having watched the entire thing, squeal quietly in the corner and think up about a million romantic scenarios involving Adora and I.
Adora looks at me, a stubborn look in her eyes. "No."
"No? That's not what your lips said against mine." I say, walking smoothly over to Adora and trapping her against the wall with my arms.
Adora flushes as she glances at me, shaking her head. "N-no.."
I smirk at her in amusement and bend to speak next to her ear. "So, you don't have anything to.. admit to?" I ask, kissing below her ear gently.
Adora mumbles incoherently and I pull back to look her in the eyes. "You can tell me anything, you know that, right?"
Adora nods, sighing a little. "I'm just scared of what your reaction will be." She admits quietly. I chuckle, pushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Whatever it is, I'm sure the feeling is mutual."
Adora takes a breath. "Okay.. so, I like you. A lot. And it's been killing me not to tell you. I was scared to, though, because you mean so much to me and I don't want to lose you if it doesn't work out between us." Her eyes widen and she quickly continues. "Not that I'm implying that we're dating now! Or that we will date at all.. I mean, if you want to be girlfriends, then we can be girlfriends, but we don't have to. Honestly whatever works with you is fine and--"
I chuckle, stooping to kiss her lips and, effectively, shutting her up. Pulling away, I smile softly at her. "If you want to be girlfriends, then we can be girlfriends." I confirm. She brightens. "Really?" I nod, chuckling. "Yes, but first, can we go get something to eat? I'm famished."
She nods and, together, we walk out, forgetting Scorpia and Entrapta and unknowingly intertwining our fingers along the way.
(a/n: Hey! I know this chapter is a bit fast paced, but I'm going to have Adora go out of her way to hide it from the others, and maybe Kyle just goes all Sherlock mode and interrogates Entrapta and Scorpia? Let me know what you think!)
