Chapter 9
<Lydia's POV>
How? How could he know that that is the one place I want to go. The country where they're are less people. A simpler life. After work I walk straight home through the late fall, nearly winter, air. Once I have gotten in the apartment I open all of the windows. All of the cold air comes rushing in. Then I walk gracefully into my bedroom and change into a dainty thin strapped nightgown. It's white fabric stretching a few inches above my knee. I go back to the main room of my apartment and the wind blowing in makes my hair fly around in wisps in front of my face.
Taking a seat on the floor I think about the country. And Stiles and Allison. I could have a happy life in the country, with my best friends but I don't deserve it. I go from having sex to earn money to being a cheap stripper to catch the money for my rent. All I do is burden my friends. Poor Allison is stuck with me.
What if she comes looking for me. I can't burden her more. Standing up I walk to the door with soft steps and lock the door. After I've returned to my original spot on the floor I realize how cold it is in my apartment. Good, maybe I'll freeze right in this spot.
After about two hours a knock comes at my door. "Lyds, it's Allison, can I come in?" Her voice rings so innocently. My perfect best friend. I can't burden her so I don't say a word. "Lydia are you okay?" She says. Still I stay silent shaking as I sit in the cold. "Lydia open the door," Allison demands with worry in her voice. For a moment I think about opening the door and then realize that my sadness will burden her more. "Lydia open the door!" She yells.
<Allison's POV>
Why won't she open the door? I reach for my phone and call Stiles. "What Allison I've just about had it for today," he snaps.
"Stiles, Lydia has locked herself in her apartment, I feel a draft coming from under the door, her windows must be open and in this weather she will freeze," I say worriedly.
"Allison what's her address?" He asks. I tell him with a shaky voice. "I'll be there in a few," he says. Before he hangs up I hear him yell for Scott to call Isaac. I don't know who that is but I guess I'm going to find out.
"Lydia please open the door, it's to cold in there," I say knowing that she doesn't pay the heat bill ever. Not even ten minutes later Stiles, Scott, and who I'm assuming is Isaac come rushing to my aid.
"How long has it been?" Stiles asks.
"Fifteen minutes, Stiles she won't open the door," I say beginning to cry a bit. Stiles taps on the door.
"Lydia, it's Stiles please open the door," Stiles pleads. He is greeted with silence. Stiles bangs on the door. Scott grabs his hands.
"That's not going to do anything but make her scared," he tisks.
"Well how do we get to her?" Stiles asks angrily. An idea pops in my head.
"My friend Cora, she knows how to pick a lock better than anyone," I say while taking my phone out and clicking her contact.
"Hello?"
"Cora, it's Ali, this is urgent, get to Lydia's apartment and bring your tools," I order.
"Is something wrong?" She asks.
"Yes just bring your tools, and your brother just in case we need to break down the door," I say.
"Sounds bad, I'll be there in a few." I hang up and look from the phone to three pairs of confused eyes.
"What?"
"Break down the door?" Isaac asks.
"Derek is like a giant, now any ideas until Cora gets here?"I ask. Everyone is silent for a moment.
"The fire escape, it leads to her window," Stiles says before sprinting away. Scott and Isaac follow him while I stand by the door.
<Stiles' POV>
The three of us climb the rickety stairs up to Lydia's window. Once we are up there we discover bars over the window. I tug at them angrily and run my hands through my hair. Speaking through the bars I try to get Lydia's attention. "Lydia, open the door for Allison," I demand. She doesn't even glance at me. Instead Lydia stays sitting in a ball on the floor shaking in a thin white night gown. An idea pops in my head. Our bud that works with power tools. Picking my phone out from my pocket I dial Danny's number. "Hey Stiles what's up?"
"No time to explain track my phone in the find my iPhone app and bring your tools to melt metal bars," I say all to quickly. Danny stays silent for a second.
"Be there soon, is everything okay?" He asks. I sigh and run a hand through my hair.
"No Danny now hurry!" I say and then hang up. After a few minutes of trying to get to Lydia, Isaac fucks up.
"Wait a minute, Scott I thought you were getting married, she leave you at the alter," Isaac says smiling. Scott eyes turn to metaphorical fire. His fists ball up and all of his veins pop out. He grabs Isaac's shirt and throws him over the fire escape. Scott holds him there, threatening to drop him.
"What did you say asshole?!" Scott screams. Isaac begins to flip out. His eyes are wide and his mouth is open in surprise.
"Dude I'm sorry! I didn't mean it like that," Isaac yells. Scott is still intoxicated and his emotions go over the top when he is drunk. Now his anger is overflowing. I try to pull Isaac up, but Scott just pushes me out of the way. I hit the rail of the fire exit hard and the whole thing shakes. After this is over I am going to kill Scott.
I see Danny pull up and wonder what took him so long. He jumps out of his truck and looks up at us with a single raised eyebrow. "What the hell are you guys doing?" He yells up to us.
"Danny shut up and get up here with the tools," I scream. He throws his hands in the air and then grabs his tools. I look through the window protected by metal bars once more and desperately try to get Lydia's attention. "Lydia please open the door for Allison, please," I beg. Lydia doesn't lift her head up from her knees. I hear Allison banging on the door.
"Lydia sweetheart let me in!" She yells lovingly. Then she stops knocking on the door and all I can hear is Danny running up the fire escape stairs to us. When Danny reaches us he has a tool that will supposedly cut threw the bars. I finally have enough of Scott threatening Isaac and Pull the frightened boy up before Scott has a chance to stop me.
"Sorry buddy," I mumble before taking my hand and back handing my best friend done falls unconscious on the floor of the fire escape. Danny widens his eyes. I glare at the boy. "Hurry up Danny!" Danny look back at the bars and mumbles 'step back'. Isaac and I obey and watch from the edge of the fire escape. Sparks fly as the machine does its work. Eventually I hear a snap then another and another. Soon all the bars are gone. But when I look through the window I see, so is Lydia.
A/N yay an update.
