The scene opens on a barren desert planet, with one sun orbiting it. The surface of this planet was littered with destroyed imperial vehicles, ranging from a few walkers to star destroyers. One this stuck out like a sore thumb, as it walked through the ruins towards one of the downed star destroyers. It was a girl standing about 5'6, wrapped in tan robes, with a large staff on her back.

This was Rey, no last name, just Rey. She walked into the crashed ship, looking around the base of it. She walked to one of the walls, grabbing onto some of the loose wires, using them to pull herself up the wall towards a large panel. She reached the panel, which was high above the ground, and pulled out a power distributor, strapping it on her waist before scaling down the wall. She grabbed a small hub capp from the side of the ship, and used it to slide down the sandy dune. She picked the capp back up, and walked into a town not too far away from the crash site.

Rey walks into the town towards a stable looking structure, grabbing a sponge with some water and scrubbing the part. She looks off into the distance as she does so, noticing an old woman who looked eerily similar to her, doing the same.

Rey: What?

But as quickly as the vision came, leaving Rey puzzled and confused as to what it meant. Was the woman her? so that meant she would be doing this forever? She shook the idea from her head and went over to the central area of the town, where a disgusting man waited for her.

Rey placed Her findings on the table in front of the man, who picked it up and inspected it. He took the part and placed a small bag filled with what looked to be food on the table.

Unkar Plutt: One half portion

Rey looked at the portion in disbelief, that was way more last week! But alas, she knew there was no point in arguing with the greedy man that was unfortunately her 'boss'. She grabbed her net that carried her belongings and dragged it away, over the dunes and away from the town. She dragged it back towards the graveyard of giants, which was filled with downed imperial class AT-AT walkers. She walked towards one which had fallen on its side, and opened a flap to reveal what looked to be a makeshift house.

Once she got inside, she quickly went to the wall to add a small line. She then looked over to the rest of the wall, showing a tally chart over thousands of days.

After looking over the wall, she dropped down to the makeshift table she made out of parts of the walker she inhabited.

She set the metal tray on the table and then she poured her water into the metal container and mixed the powder from her half portion together with it. Afterwards, she took the tray out the front of the destroyed empire walker.

Rey sat outside the walker, leaning against the wall of the walker. She looked at the setting sun, as a ship took off. Rey looked longingly at the ship, she would do anything to get off this planet.

She took a bite of the terrible food a half portion with a little bit of water had created. She reached for a old rebel alliance helmet, with the orange paint still barely visible.

She stared at the helmet for a few seconds before putting it on and looking at the ship as it left her line of sight.

Eventually, Rey saw a nearby rock. As she looked at it for a second, she took off her helmet before she slowly reached her right hand forward. She then held up the helmet in her left hand and looked at the rebel emblem on the side. After looking at it a bit, she put the helmet down.

At first, nothing happened, as Rey tried to concentrate harder. After a second or two the rock moved a few inches towards her

Rey: Well, at least that something.

As she lamented the results of her practice, she heard a loud beeping noise and other commotion.

She quickly got up and grabbed her staff, running towards the sound in case it might be a problem that could put her in danger.

As she got up to the top of a hill of sand, she saw that it wasn't a threat to her, but was a junker, who had a droid in his net. The junker was attempting to drag the droid, who was resisting with all his might. Rey was tempted to just walk away, it wasn't her problem after all. But the whines of the droid drew her in, she couldn't just leave this poor thing to die. She slid down the dune and yeled at the scrapper

Rey: Hey! Get out of here, shoo!

The scrapper let go of his net, deciding that the droid wasn't worth the potential fight. Rey gets the droid free and it beeps in thanks. It rolls its head against the sand, trying to tear off its antenna. Rey doesn't understand why the droid wants its antenna gone, but tore it off anyways. The droid beeps at its savoir, signifying its name

Rey doesn't understand much binary, but she understood a little

Rey: I'm sorry. BB- what?

BB-8: *Beep*

Rey: BB-8?

The droid beeps happily at rey's words, and she smiles

Rey: Well BB-8, your free, run along.

Rey walks back to her home, but the droid rolls behind her, following her back to her house.

Rey: Why are you following me?

Rey attempted to walk back to her house again, only to see the droid still following her.

Rey: Fine, you can stay, but only tonight.

Ret laid in her makeshift bed while BB-8 powered off close by.

The scene opens on the wreckage of the Tie fighter, As a loud pounding noise is heard. The glass cockpit broke open, as Finn climbed out, helping Poe out with him. Poe lays down in the sand, as Finn passes back and forth, clearly worried.

Finn: Great, this is absolutely perfect! Of all the planets we could have crash landed on, it was Jakku!

Poe sat up, leaning against the cold sand dune.

Poe: Hey, calm down! We can work with this.

Finn turns to face Poe

Finn: How? How! Were in the middle of nowhere, on a planet that's in the middle of nowhere! This planet is a wasteland, the only structures are destroyed imperial ships!

Poe got up at Finns words

Poe: Imperial ships?

Finn stopped his pacing

Finn: Yeah, what's that got anything to do with anything?

Poe stood up

Poe: How many ships?

Finn: There's a huge part of the planet with downed imperial star destroyers, there's even a Super star destroyer. Why?

Poe clapped his hands and smiled

Poe: Do you know what this means? Imperial ships, on this planet, and I know how to pilot them! We can find a downed ship, fix it, and

Finn: So. How do we find your droid?

Poe: Well, first, we need to split up to track more ground

Finn: OK, I think that will work

Poe: You'll need to find the droid while I get a ship we can escape with

Finn: But wouldn't it be easier that we do the reverse and you track the droid? Besides, how do you plan to get a ship?

Poe: I can find a ship anywhere on the planet and take it for the resistance and it's legal. In addition, the republic will also compensate the original owners. You can't do that. So, I have to be the one to find the ship

Finn: OK. But then, how do I identify your droid? You said it's a BB unit, but that does very little to help. Also, once I find the droid, how do I get it to listen to me?

Poe: I'm hoping that if you wear my Jacket, then the droid will recognize you, which solves both problems

Finn: OK. I'll do what I can. But what about the first order? They don't know about the droid, right?

Poe: Not everything. I was pretty resilient to their interrogation. But, unfortunately, they do know that it's a BB unit, so they won't have too much trouble narrowing it down until they find him. They also saw us crash here and have no reason to assume he escaped on his own. So, they will get to him if we don't make it first

Finn: Alright. I'll take care of that as best I can

Poe: Thanks. I'm counting on you

As Finn left a thought occurred, before he turned back to Poe

Finn: Remember. You have to get a head start before the sun rises, or the heat will be unbearable. And I'll bet that it'll take until then for first order to catch you. So, get it done within the next six hours

Poe nodded before turning to continue walking

Rey walked along the sandy dunes, back a familiar path, the same she had walked yesterday. BB-8 was rolling alongside her, sliding down the dunes and bouncing across. They arrived back at the town, and Rey decided to talk to her little droid companion.

Rey: Aren't you tired of waiting for your owner to come get you?

BB-8 beeped a little, signifying a clear 'no'

Rey: I know all about waiting

BB-8: *Beep*

Rey: For my family

BB-8 turned his circular body to face rey as they approached the main trading shed

BB-8: *Beep*

Rey: They'll be back. One day

Rey lays a few pieces of the star destroyer she had scavenged from, watching as Unkar looked through it

Unkar Plutt: These five pieces are, let me see, One half portion

Rey: Last week they were a whole portion each

Unkar Plutt: Is that so? Let me change the price just for you

Rey was hopeful that he'd correct his mistake, but that hope quickly died at his next words

Unkar Plutt: One quarter portion for all of them

Rey looked at it angrily before giving up and slowly reaching for the quarter portion in defeat

Unkar Plutt: What about the droid?

Rey: What about him?

Unkar Plutt: I'll pay for it, 90 Portons

Rey balled her fists in anger, seeing that he was willing to give her this much after barely treating her like a person at all

Rey: Not for sale

As Rey walked away, she didn't notice Unkar pulling out a communication device to talk to someone

As Rey storms away a masked thug bumps into her, grabbing her as a second thug puts a bag over BB-8 in an attempt to steal the droid.

Rey: Hey! Unhand me!

Rey kicks the thug who was holding her shins, and knocks the other to the ground using her staff.

Finn stumbled into the town, sweating profusely from the heat but still moving along, as he entered the town he noticed the fight happening and walked over to spectate. It wasn't his business after all, so he didn't want to get involved, especially since the first order would catch him if he caused too much commotion.

Rey stabbed her staff backwards, hitting the thug in the gut, and sending him to the ground, she then spun her staff around and clocked the second thug across the face. Sending him to the ground along with his associate. Rey ran over to the bag B-88 was put in, releasing it and making sure he was ok.

Rey: Well, that was close.

BB-8 beeped angrily and rolled away from Rey and at Finn, who was still watching from the sidelines. Rey catches up with BB-8 who is beeping loudly and angrily, the only word Rey could pick up was *Thief*

Rey: Thief!

Rey hit finn across the back with her staff, knocking him to the ground.

Finn: What?

Rey: That jacket. This droid says you stole it

Finn jumped back up, putting his fists up, ready for a fight. Rey swung her staff at Finn, as he stepped back to dodge it. Rey jabbed at Finn with her staff, who caught it and pulled it from her grip. Finn hit Rey across the face with her own staff, sending her to the ground. He stepped back away from Rey

Finn: I'm no thief. This jacket was given to me.

Rey: It belongs to his master. Where did you get it?

Finn tossed Rey her staff back, as she stood up.

Finn: Yes, it belonged to Poe Dameron

Finn kneels down next to BB-8 as he continues his story

Finn: He was taken by the first order. I helped him escape, but our ship crashed.

Rey nodded

Rey: And then what?

Finn: We decided to split up. I'd search for his droid and he'd find a ship

Rey nodded in understanding while BB-8 was suspicious, didn't dwell on it. After a few seconds, Rey looked over to Finn in admiration

Rey: So you're with the resistance?

Finn nodded

Finn: Yes, I am

At that answer, Rey got more excited

Rey: I've never met a resistance fighter before

Finn smiled sheepishly

Finn: Well. Congratulations, I guess. We're not all that exciting

He quickly tried to dismiss the admiration. Mostly due to never receiving admiration or any kind of positive interaction of any kind before

Finn: I need somewhere to stay, we need to hide out from the first order, they'll be looking for me and the droid.

Rey nodded and began to walk towards the dunes, motioning for finn to follow her. But as they did, a blaster bolt barely missed finn. He turned to see a squad of stormtroopers approaching them. Finn's eyes widened

Finn grabbed Rey's hand and began to run away from the blaster fire of the troopers. Something she didn't appreciate

Rey: What are you doing?

Finn: We have to run, Now! Come on BB-8!

They ran, trying to avoid the blaster fire while Rey kept fighting Finn

Rey: Let go of me!

Finn: Come on we gotta move!

Rey: I know how to run without you holding my hand!

She yanked her hand free while they kept avoiding the blaster fire

Rey: BB-8 stay close!

They managed to get into a small tent. As soon as they got in, Rey stopped to catch her breath and let the gravity of her situation sink in

Rey: They're shooting at both of us!

Finn: They saw you with me. You're marked

Rey: Well thanks for that

Finn: Hey, I'm not the one that chased you down with a stick

Rey looked around, confused to where Finn was leading them.

Rey: Where are we going? My place is that way!

She pointed the opposite direction

Finn nodded as they continued back into the town

Finn: We aren't going to outrun stormtroopers, we need something faster.

Finn ran back to the main part of town and slid onto a deactivated speeder, Rey jumped into the passenger seat.

Rey: Do you even know how to drive a speeder?

Finn shook his head

Finn: Nope!

Finn attempted to start the speeder, only for nothing to happen.

Finn: You've got to be kidding me!

He reached down into the compartment under the glove box as the stormtroopers re-entered the town.

Finn: Red wire to blue wire, yellow wire to orange wire, and....

The speeder hummed to life as finn smiled in satisfaction

Finn: Yes!

He floored the accelerator as they sped away from the town, blaster bolts following close behind them.

Finn: So, where did you say you lived?

As finn and rey pulled up to Rey's house

Rey: So we can escape, But what's so special about the droid?

Finn: Apparently he has a map to Luke Skywalker

Finn groaned, he hated even the topic of Skywalker.

Rey: Skywalker? We have to help get this droid back

Finn turned the speeder towards where Rey said her house was

Finn: Why? What's so special about him anyway?

Rey turned to look at finn with a very surprised look on her face

Rey: You're asking what's so special about Luke Skywalker?

Fin nodded

Finn: Yes. Please explain

Rey: Luke Skywalker destroyed the empire 30 years ago. And he saved the entire galaxy

Finn rolled his eyes

Finn: Alright. But why does that matter now? We're not in the age of the empire

Rey: Because he's been working on reviving the Jedi order. He's a hero, and regardless of what he's doing now, he deserves gratitude for what he did at the time. How does a member of the resistance not know what he accomplished?

Finn sweat for a second, thinking of a quick lie and really just being fed up with Skywalker

Finn: Well. We were never informed about Luke. You have to advance bit higher than me

Rey pressed on with her questions

Rey: But it's common knowledge. Even outside the resistance, you should-

Finn cut her off, beyond done with the topic

Finn: Can we please just not talk about it? We need to figure out a way off the planet

Rey nodded, but kept a mental note to ask him later, clearly aware that something was wrong

Rey: Yes. Agreed. Let's get off of the planet

Rey pointed over to what looked to be a large bump in the sand

Rey: Over there. We're close

Rey and finn pulled up at the downed walker

Rey: Well. Here it is

Finn raised an eyebrow

Finn: This is where you live?

Rey shrugged

Rey: Sorry. I know it's not much, but we can hide from the stormtroopers here

Rey went to a nearby wall and added another mark to her tally chart

Finn saw her add the tally and very quickly figured out what it meant. He understood how she probably felt due to his time in the First order's re education program.

That thought made him immediately realize that she would need to stay with him and Poe due to being marked by the First order. He decided to address escaping the first order.

Finn: We have to escape by tomorrow because the stormtroopers will catch us again

Rey: I have no idea what to do here. How do you plan to get us off the planet?

Finn: If you have a ship, we can fly off the planet.

Rey: You expect me to have a ship while living in a place like this?

Finn: Not really. I just figured it's best to rule that out quickly

Rey: So what now?

Finn: We still need to get out of here. Poe said that he'll be looking for a ship, but I don't know how he'll find us

Rey: You didn't make a plan to rendezvous? After you found BB-8?

Finn: We just came out of a crash and needed to come up with a plan quickly. The best option is to make ourselves extremely obvious to him and not the first order.

Rey: And how do you suppose we do that?

Finn: Let's sleep on it

Rey: Great. That's reassuring

Rey rolled her eyes. Finn laid in the cold sand

They both drifted off to sleep

Rey was woken up by Finn literally dragging her out of her makeshift bed

Rey: Hey!

Finn dropped her in the hot sand

Finn: Wake up. We have to go as soon as possible to either find a ship or fing Poe.

Rey: Great. I'll get ready. But can you not drag me around in my sleep?

Finn didn't listen to her rant as he was standing outside, looting the speeder.

Rey came up beside Finn just as he managed to pull an E-11 blaster out

After getting up, Rey came up beside Finn

Finn: Ready?

Rey nodded

Finn: Just remember that the troopers will catch us if we're not careful, we've got to keep a low profile.

Rey looks out into the endless sand dunes

Rey: Well, I suppose we're safe for now

Finn and Rey slowly made their way back to the town, neither talking to the other on their way. BB-8 rolled behind them, with his occasional beeping being the only thing to break the silence. As they arrived at the edge of the town. Finn stopped as he looked into town to see stormtroopers patrolling it, he pulled rey down into the dunes

Finn: Stormtroopers. Let's hope they don't see us.

Rey looked into the distance to see a similar vision as the one she had seen the day earlier, this time it was one of stormtroopers aiming blasters at her and Finn, taking them back to the cruiser.

Rey: I think they caught us this time

She quickly ran and pushed Finn out of the way of the trooper gunfire

Stormtrooper: Call in the airstrike

Hearing the command while Running, Rey got nervous and turned to Finn

Rey: The storm trooper just called an airstrike. What does that mean?

Finn: It means we need to take cover to avoid flying ships!

They kept running and tried to find somewhere with lots of obstacles to hide from the Tie fighter gunfire that was about to come

Finn: Through there!

He pointed to the town with lots of buildings and curtains

Rey: Yeah! Through there!

They quickly ran through as many obstacles as possible to avoid the gunfire from the flying ships

Rey: How do we actually escape this?

Finn: If we keep this up long enough we can hopefully get a ship we can use

As they kept running, Rey spotted a ship close by

Rey: There!

She pointed at a ship what Finn recognized as a first order trooper transport. He knew there would likely be only one stormtrooper inside due to it's design. He also noticed that it was blocked, meaning that aerial weapons would have trouble aiming at it

Finn: Yeah. That'll do! Just be careful that storm troopers might be inside!

As they got closer, they saw that the door was locked

Finn: I got this

He quickly input the pin on the number pad on the door. He had to do it quickly because he knew the stormtroopers were catching up, but he also knew that he would call the only trooper still inside directly towards him and Rey

As soon as the door opened, there was a trooper pointing a blaster at them, but before he could shoot, Finn shot his legs

Rey quickly subdued him with her staff and then turned around to realize the rest were not far behind

They quickly ran in past the subdued trooper

Finn: Pilot seat over there!

He pointed up towards the pilot seat, while going to the ladder to the gun turret

Finn: Have you ever flown a ship before?

He yelled, while climbing the ladder up

Rey: Occasionally! But this is all new to me!

Finn: Well good luck!

They got into their seats, both desperately trying to reassure themselves about what's to come

Finn: I can do this. I can do this

He moved the chair around to test its accuracy

Rey: I can do this. I can do this

She flicked the three switches on the right of the chair she was sitting in, and smiled as the transport humed to life.

Rey stepped on the peddle, sending the transport flying away from the town.

Their happiness was soon cut short by the familiar sound of Tie fighters above.

Finn: We're not out of this yet.

The tie fighters fire on the transport, barely missing. Finn moved up to the cockpit, pointing at a canyon coming up.

Finn: There, we can lose them in the canyon!

Rey: How do you know?

Finn: It'll confuse their tracking!

Rey does as she is told, as the transport is rocked by another shot from the tie fighters

Rey: Are you gonna shoot them?!

Finn: I can't. I don't like stormtroopers either, but they're still people and I don't want to kill them

Rey: That's very noble of you, but they don't feel the same way. And I don't feel like sacrificing my life for the very people trying to end it

As the targeting system locked on, Finn held his hands over the red fire button, hesitating for a second

Rey: So please just shoot them before we both die!

Finn shot at the first two Tie fighters, which made them crash into each other

Another shot came and knocked Finn and Rey in the ship

Finn: Are the shields up?

Rey: How do I turn them on?

She tried pushing whichever button she thought might be the shields with no success

Finn: Button on the far right of your position

Rey: That really narrows it down. Thanks for the help

She angrily laughed at him with clear sarcasm in her voice, while awkwardly trying to reach over to the far right

Finn: Square blue one right below the blue gauge

Seeing what Finn mean, Rey pressed the button, which made the blue bar light up, indicating the shields being activated

Rey: They're up

Rey managed to get to the canyon, which prevented more than five Tie fighters from following them

Finn managed to shoot the remaining five easily, due to their positioning

Finn: They're letting up a little. The canyon is also providing cover. Just be careful. We're still not safe yet

Once the turbulence died down a little, BB-8 managed to get to the control panel. Once he got there, he sent out his adapter into the console

Suddenly a signal was picked up by the ship, to Rey's quickly confusion at the person on the other end

Poe: Hello? BB-8?

Rey: Who is this? What do you want?

Finn quickly caught on to the conversation and realized what happened

Finn: Rey! Put him through to me!

Rey quickly sent the signal to Finn's headset

Poe: Finn? Is that you?

Finn: Yeah. Where are you right now? We need help dealing with the first order. We've severely outnumbered and our pilot has no idea what she's doing

Rey: Shut up!

Poe: I found a ship. I can track your location with the coordinates I received from your ship

Finn: Great. Just please get here soon

Poe: Will do

As soon as Poe disconnected the call they took another hit

Once Rey recovered, she saw the gauge for the shields had gone out

Rey: Shields are down!

Finn: Great

He groaned at the loss of their only real defense

Finn quickly targeted another Tie fighter and shot it down

Rey: How long before we can get help?

Finn: A few minutes. Can you hold out till then?

Rey: I might be able to

As soon as she said that, their thrusters got shot out by another Tie fighter

Rey: I spoke too soon

She saw the control panel that displayed a warning

Rey: Our thrusters are blown out. Hang on!

Despite Rey's best effort to prevent a difficult landing, they crashed into the sand

As soon as Finn recovered he tried to address Rey

Finn: Are you OK?

Rey: I'm fine, but we can't relax yet

More ships kept flying around, catching their attention and firing at them

Rey: Is the turret working? How long can you hold them off?

Finn: I won't be able to hold them away for too long. Just hope that Poe arrives soon

He tried shooting the Tie fighters as much as possible

Finn: Get away from the pilot seat and hide somewhere!

Rey quickly left the pilot seat and tried to find a spot to hide in while Finn kept shooting troopers

Unfortunately another tie fighter blew up Finn's gunner

Finn: The gun is down. We're screwed

Luckily Poe came and started shooting the other stormtroopers in an imperial shuttle

Rey: Is that Poe?

Finn: I think so. Unless a stormtrooper defected to help us

The irony of that statement wasn't lost in Finn, but he didn't want to say that out loud

They watched Poe take out the last troopers then slowly stop moving

Rey: Alright. Let's get over to him

Finn nodded. They both ran over to the door to the trooper transport

Once the door opened Finn and Rey rushed across the sand to the shuttle

Poe: Come on! Hurry!

The three of them quickly got into the shuttle and got it started. Poe turned Finn

Poe: Thanks for finding him. I knew I could count on you

He expressed his gratitude to Finn, referencing BB-8

He then looked over to Rey

Poe: So, it appears that we have another person with us?

Finn nodded

Finn: She helped me find BB-8 and gave me a place to rest while we prepared to get to you

Rey: I can help us get away from the First order

Poe: Alright. The more help the better

More Tie fighters quickly came in and continued shooting them

Finn: So, what do we do to escape?

Poe: Right. You manage the turret. Rey, I need you as co-pilot

Rey/Finn: On it!

Finn quickly left the room while Rey sat down next to Poe

The shuttle quickly powered up and flew away

Poe: Finn, I'm going to try to keep the Tie fighters behind us. So, you have to do all the work here

Finn: Alright. I think I can do that

Rey: What about the ones in front?

Poe: This ship does have front-mounted guns, but we need to avoid using them. We have better firepower in the back

Finn managed to get rid of three of them

Rey: What about the shields?

Poe: They don't work

Rey: Great

She sarcastically groaned while shooting the Tie fighters in front of them

The ship got hit, breaking off the top fin of the ship and causing the three to be tossed around inside of it

Poe: Dammit! There's no way we can get them off of us like this

Rey: I have an idea! How accurately could you get through the insides of a star destroyer?

Poe: I think I can pull it off

Rey: Alright. Then go into that one

Rey she pointed to the downed star destroyer that she had been previously been searching through for parts

Poe quickly turned the ship to go towards the star destroyer while the Tie fighters chased them

Rey: Once you get close to half way through it, there's a hole that you can fit through!

Poe got in through the thruster of the star destroyer

Rey: It'll be on the right and you won't be able to notice it until it's too late! Go through there and the Tie fighters will miss us and get destroyed by the debris!

Poe nodded, while Finn kept shooting the Tie fighters that followed from behind

Rey: We're Almost there! Get ready!

Poe nodded and prepared for a hard right turn while keeping an eye out for the opening

Once it showed up he quickly charged through the hole, throwing the other ships off guard and made them crash into the debris

Once they escaped, Poe started flying up into the atmosphere

Poe: It seems like we finally got a break. Let's get out of here before they catch us again

Rey: Alright

Once they made it into the atmosphere, Poe stopped looking out and let his guard down, seeing as there didn't appear to be anymore first order ships bothering them

He enabled cruise control and turned to face Rey and Finn, who were both in the cockpit

Poe: Finn, did you see anything from where you were?

Finn: No. It appears as though the first order won't be chasing us for a while

Poe: Why? Shouldn't they be aggressively chasing us down? Why would they just stop?

Finn: I don't know why. But they've relented. It's probably because we've either damaged their forces, or someone else is after them

Hearing that the dust was settling, Rey decided to step in about the future plans

Rey: Alright. So, we're getting away from Jakku. Now what do we do?

Poe: Get back to the resistance with BB-8

A realization came to him when he realized Rey's unfortunate circumstance and consequence for helping them.

Poe: I should also point out that now that you were caught with us, you sort of have to avoid the first order until they forget about you

Rey: Yeah. That's no problem. If it's alright, I'll just say with you

Finn remembered the tally chart she had back on Jakku and wanted to quickly throw in his support for Rey

Finn: I'm alright with that, but it's not my choice

Poe: Yeah. I think the three of us will work well together

Rey looked excited and happy at his words, though she tried to hide it

Poe: Welcome to the team

Finn: It's great to have you. Now, can you manage the weapons? I'll do co-pilot work for Poe

Rey: Alright. I'll get to it

She nodded and left to get to the gun turret without realizing Finn's actual reason for wanting her out of the room

As soon as Rey left, Finn sat down next to Poe in the co-pilot seat

Finn: Just so you know. When BB-8 accused me of stealing the jacket, I told Rey that I was part of the resistance in order to not get attacked.

Poe stared at Finn in disbelief of the terrible decision he made

Poe: How did you think that was a good idea? And now that she's not threatening you, why can't you just come out with the truth?

Finn: I panicked. OK? And no. I can't just tell her that I'm a damn stormtrooper. Just, please, help cover for me until I can simply escape from the First Order

Poe: Alright, I'll cover for you as well as I can, but no promises

Finn: Thank you

Poe: But are you sure you want to run from the First Order? I won't hold it against you if you run, but I think the resistance would genuinely want to have you onboard. And, I don't think you'll be doing any better constantly running from them than when you were a member.

Finn was silent for a second at the thought

Finn: That is a good point. I'll think about it

Poe nodded and they both got back to focusing on flying

After a little while in awkward silence, Poe decided to ask Finn about his mental state

Poe: So, how are you holding up?

Finn silently turned to him

Poe: You know, having shot down so many stormtroopers?

They sat in silence for a second. After hesitating, Finn answered

Finn: I'm... Doing alright

Poe: If you want to talk about it more, I can help you cope if you want

Finn looked at poe

Finn: Im fine, thanks

Poe nodded as their ship continued off to their destination
