chapter 10

And now I'm back!!!!

Lonnie woke up tired with a slight headache. Must have been the aftermath of the events which happened the previous day.

Seriously how could so many things happen in one day?

Anyway she woke up and Jane was already gone. She saw a note on the study table which Jane left for her.

Thought after yesterday, you should take a day off so take today to relax. I'll bring you breakfast soon.
                                            Love Jane.

Lonnie smiled at the note. What would she do without her bestest friend in the world?

So she decided to lay down back in bed. She really needed to rest.

As soon as head hit the pillow, her mind started wandering.

From telling Jay about her experience, to fake dating and finally her mind settled on the fact that Sean Lee was coming to Auradon the next day.

She was trying to get her head wrapped around the fact that she would have to deal with Sean again.

With each growing second she thought about it, her heartbeat became louder and faster.

Her ringtone pulled her out of her thoughts as she stretched her hand to the table without actually getting up, and took her phone expecting the call to be Jay, she didn't bother looking at the caller ID and just answered the phone.

"Hello..." Her voice rasped.

"Oh my goodness. Sweetie are you okay?" Mulan's voice was thick with concern.

Hearing her mom's voice, Lonnie shot up immediately.

"Mom?" Lonnie asked to be sure.

"Lanlei, are you sick? Switch to video call so I can see your face." Mulan said.

"No mā I'm not sick. I just woke up that's all." Lonnie said.

"But why would you be waking up now if you aren't sick?" Mulan asked.

"I had a stressful day yesterday and needed the extra rest." Lonnie said in honesty.

"Okay...." Mulan said a bit skeptical

"So why did you call?" Lonnie asked.

"What I can't check up on my own daughter?" Mulan asked feigning hurt and surprise.

Lonnie had an amused smile on her face.

"But you are right actually. I did call for a reason other than wanting to know how my precious baby girl is doing." Mulan said defensively yet amusingly.

Lonnie had a triumphant smirk on her face knowing she was right. If only her mother could see her.

"Sure mom. What's up?" Lonnie asked.

"Li Lonnie you are in big trouble missy." Mulan said sounding furious.

Lonnie's heart skipped many beats. Did they find out.

"Why?" Lonnie asked cautiously.

"How could you get engaged without me and your father's consent?" Mulan asked

She was glad it wasn't what she was worried about but then again, it wasn't like this situation was good.

"Who told you that?" Lonnie asked.

"Aurora. Apparently her daughter was telling her about how you and a VK getting married. So she told me and gave me the link to the video." Mulan explained.

Lonnie groaned. This was all Jay's fault.

"You have no idea how hard it was to stop your father from flying to Auradon immediately to chop the head off that innocent boy." Mulan said.

Lonnie almost snorted. Jay was everything but innocent.

"Mom I promise its not a big deal. I'm not engaged and I'm not getting married. Jay and I just barely started dating." Lonnie explained.

"Then what about the video?" Mulan asked

"He was just being stupid." Lonnie said.

"Yeah, well your father is gonna need more convincing than that." Mulan added.

"He'll listen to you. As always." Lonnie said.

"Okay so that's that. Now I'm not sure if you know but Sean Lee is transferring to Auradon." Mulan said a little bit excited.

And just like that, Lonnie's mood changed.

"Oh." Was all she could say her voice monotone.

"And well since he will be arriving today—" Mulan was speaking before she was interrupted by Lonnie.

"Wait! Today!?" She exclaimed. "That's not good." She added as an after thought as she tried to keep her heart from beating any faster.

"Yeah and I was kinda sorta hoping that maybe you could help him settle in." Mulan said.

"How did you know that he was coming today?" Lonnie asked.

"Oh he came by today. In fact he just left a while ago. He says he misses you and that you are the reason he is transferring. I'm sure you miss him too. After all you guys were the bestest of friends." Mulan said smiling not like Lonnie could see anyway.

Lonnie on the other hand was freaking out. Trying her best not to have a breakdown. She was glad her mom couldn't see.

"Mom....... I'd love to but......... I really need to rest........... today." Lonnie managed to get out in between her heavy breathing.

"Oh gosh sweetie should I call fairy godmother to check up on you." Mulan voice was filled with worry.

"No need mom. I just need to rest. Bye I love you." Lonnie said all in one breath before she ended the call.

She laid back in her bed heavily breathing almost hyperventilating.

"Get it together Lonnie. He won't do that here. He can't do that here." Lonnie tried soothing herself.

A thought crossed her mind.

Why didn't she just tell her parents what happened?

Why did she decide to run away like a coward?

Why couldn't she have just told the truth?

How differently would things go if her parents knew?

But she knew one thing, everything that happened was her fault.
