As Zhan had said Irene's funeral was very grand.

Almost every noble had come to attend the funeral.

All of them paid their respect and showed sympathy towards Zhan and Simon.

The emperor and the empress along with the first prince and the first prince had also come to pay their respects,

The empress was really surprised at this turn of events, she had clearly underestimated these two brothers to kill their own mother and frame their own father, these two are really vicious.

By from the looks of it, it seemed that Zhan was the least affected while Simon was the most.

And it was true Zhan felt nothing at the death of his mother, she was the very reason for his sufferings in his last life Irene knew about his powers and also knew that even if she had;t jumped to save him Zhan wouldn't have died.

And even if she jumped she could have drunk Zhan's blood even one drop and would have survived but no this stupid, idiotic woman wanted to be the hero. Pathetic.

Zhan didn't feel an ounce of sadness for her death on the contrary she was free from this hellish world and she no longer has to suffer, that is the only kindness Zhan can give her.

While Simon on the other hand had complicated feelings about all this, He thought that torturing Sapphire would be enough but he had never thought that this action would lead to so many deaths.

His mother, whom he hadn't known at all, but was starting to get familiar with her, although she was rude to servants and his father she was exceptionally kind, loving, and caring towards her.

Sometimes it became difficult for Simon to understand that which one of her faces was her true nature? her angelic face which she showed him or her evil one which she showed to the servants.

Zhan had said that their parents were evil but Irene didn't seem like that sure she was evil towards the servants but she wasn't evil to him, or perhaps her kindness was a pretense? but why would she pretend?

Simon had so many unanswered questions that it had given him a headache.

And Zhan, he has changed.

Simon has noticed that, and one more thing that doesn't make sense was that Zhan's blood can heal any disease any wound even the deadly poison black venom can be defeated by his blood then why can't his memories which he had lost due to head injury come back?

"Duke Simon," Simon was brought out of his trance by Zhehan who stood in front of him, "Are you okay?"

Duke.

This sudden addition to his name sounded weird to him.

"Yes, Marquis."

"I am sorry for your loss, you both had just reunited with your family and now you have to be separated from them."

Simon nodded, "I didn't remember them, and neither I had many memories with them so I don't feel much sadness."

"Even then they were your parents, you must have been sad."

Simon nodded and suddenly a woman came to them and stood beside Zhehan, "I am sorry for your loss sir Simon."

Simon looked at the woman and nodded, after that Zhehan spoke, "Duke Simon, meet my younger cousin, the daughter of my aunt, Adeena Vespera."

Simon suddenly became alert, "She is your cousin?"

Zhehan smiled, "Yes, duke she is my lovely cousin, my younger sister. She is my aunt's daughter"

Zhehan and Adeena's mother were sisters while Zhehan mother had married into a powerful family, Adeena's mother had run away with a lowly Noble with not a high rank because she loved her.

Adeena had always envied his brother and wanted a higher status and respect and becoming saintess was the only way otherwise she was being sold to some old man but now that opportunity was snatched from her.

To protect herself from being sold to some old man and to escape from her miserable fate she has to be the empress's servants otherwise she will suffer.

And the reason for her plan's failure was Zhan and Yibo.

Moreover, she knew very well that everything that happened was planned.

Zhehan had soon been called by some other noble so Adeena and Simon were left alone, "Duchess was a very pretty lady Duke."

"I know."

Adeena then smiled gently and said, "I had heard that the duchess was truly an angel, she was always kind to everyone and treated everyone equally, she was never arrogant or let the wealth and power get to her.

She loved duke a lot as well, she could die for her, but she changed after you two..."Adeena stopped for a minute, "After you two were gone, she changed so drastically that people thought that she was possessed."

Simon took a deep breath, "Let the dead be dead Lady Adeena all these questions will remain unanswered forever."

Adeena answered, "It is said that if you look hard you can find god, then why not answers?"  before leaving but not before sowing seed of doubt in Simon's heart.

Meanwhile, Yibo talked to Zhan, "I never knew that you could go that far." he was genuinely surprised by today's actions.

Yibo had never known the duke and Duchess on a personal level but he had no enmity with them on the contrary he had always respected the duke's household.

To Yibo's surprise, Zhan just smiled maniacally, there was no emotion, no sadness, no grief no guilt no nothing only, and only madness.

For a while Yibo couldn't recognize Zhan, is this really his Sean?

Zhan spoke, "To achieve the goal I can go to any lengths Prince, you have no idea how far I can go, and neither do I and that scares me, I am not a human anymore, I am a monster."

Yibo was speechless after listening to Zhan's cold voice which sent a shiver run down his spine, this isn't the Sean he knew.

"What are you planning to do now?" he asked anxiouly.

Zhan smiled, "It's the empress's turn, your highness just keep your eyes and ears open all the time from now on, it's time to avenge your family."

Yibo didn't say anything because Zhan had walked away from there.

When came back to his room his steps suddenly stumbled sudden weakness invaded his body.

Zhan collapsed on his bed and stared at the ceiling, it's going to get tough from now on.
