Epilogue
Chaithanya's POV
I'm rudely awoken by my blanket being pulled off my warm body.
"Let me sleep Sam." I mutter, still sleepy.
"Wake up you laze sleepy head." Sam says, hitting me on the shoulder.
I reach out and grab her by the waist, pulling her down onto me and earning a squeal from her.
"Chay!" She chastises.
"Shhhhh. I'm trying to sleep here." I say.
"Ew! You stink!" Sam exclaims, trying to wriggle free from my grasp, but I hold on tighter.
"I'm not letting you go." I say.
"Chay!" Sam shouts.
"Why is dada not awake yet?" A voice asks from the door.
"Because Momma didn't let dada sleep last night." I reply, my eyes still closed.
"Why?"
I open my eyes to see two toddlers staring at us from the door.
"I think I'll let Momma answer that for you." I reply with a smirk.
"Mommy, why didn't you let daddy sleep?"
"Daddy's just being silly." Sam replies to them, giving me a glare to which I reply with a smirk.
"Come here," I say, and the two of them smile and run over to me.
I grab both of them and toss them onto the bed.
"Dada!" they shout as I start tickling the two of them.
"Haha! Gotcha!" I exclaim.
"Chay, let them go, I need to get them ready for the party!" Sam says.
I stop tickling them and look at the two of them, red from laughing.
"Happy birthday my babies." I say.
They both giggle. "Thank you Dada."
I smile and give them each a kiss on the forehead.
"Alright my beauties, it's almost time for your party so why don't we go get ready, yeah?" I say, setting the two cuties on the floor.
They both waddle out of the room.
"That counts for you too, mister," Sam says.
"Ahhh, but I'm sleepy." I whine.
"Chay," Sam says.
"It's not my fault, you kept me up late last night." I say.
"Oh my god!" Sam says, blushing a cute red color. "Shut up and get ready." She says, shaking her head and walking out the door.
I smile as I watch her walk out before pulling myself off the bed to get ready.
****
"Maya and Aaron are the lights of our lives. I'm am so grateful for these two little ones." I say. "So, in honor of their birthday, Sam and I have donated five lakhs to a homeless children's shelter, and we will continue to do so every year forward." Everyone claps and I wait for them to cam down before speaking again. "Mom, dad, auntie, uncle, please come up so we can cut the cake." I say.
Sam's and my parents walk up to us and we all gather to cut the cake. I watch as Maya and Aaron take the knife and cut the cake.
After the cake cutting, we decide to take pictures. I carry Maya and Sam carries Aaron. I put my free arm over Sam's shoulder, and Sam puts her free arm around my torso and leans her head onto my shoulder.
"Smile!" The cameraman says.
I look at Sam who smiles, and I hear the camera click. I lean closer to her and place a kiss on her head before engulfing my entire family in a big hug.
I love them, and I will always be with them, no matter what.
