-Chapter 5
My heart instantly sped up, my eyes widening. In the past year I've been dealing with situations like this, but it's taken a toll on me. That's fur sure.
I quickly grabbed my bat from out of my bag, gripping it in my hands. My eyes seemed cold and unforgiving at this time.
Alex looked to me, a bit frightened of my posture, and expression. Had he never seen it? Of course he had, but that was when we were first reunited.
I kept my eyes on the house, my eyes adverting to every window and door. Suddenly, a figure came running out with a small hand gun. It was a short boy, shorter than Alex, and had strawberry blonde hair that went down to his ears. Next to him was a girl. She reminded me of Peggy with her long curly hair. Oh, I missed Peggy. No. I can't miss them. Never.
They're gone for as long as I can help it.
The girl propped herself up on a wooden stick much like my bat, but skinnier. "So, who the hell are you?" She asked, her expression cold. "I'm John." I said through clenched teeth. "Last name? " She raised a brow. "That's for me to know." I spat. "Right, right. Well then, I hope you don't mind being our prisoners." She inquired, smirking evilly. I scowled, Alex behind me.
Alex. They'd try and kill him. But only because they'd be jealous ...
I shook my head lightly and blinked. "Your prisoners?" I asked for confirmation. "Duh!" The red headed boy said. "Sam, shut up!" She girl snapped, making the boy shake slightly.
"Now then," she nudged the small boy causing him to pull the trigger to his gun.
It landed in my shoulder, causing me to fall to my knees in pain, exposing Alex. The boy screamed, dropping his gun. "What in the hell kind of thing is that?!" He screeched. Tears of pain rolled down my cheeks, my hand over the bullet wound. This wouldn't end good.
Alex dropped by my side, hugging my from behind. "I'm s-sorry.." he whispered. I only whimpered and tried to keep my eye on the two. That's when Alex got up and went over to them.
The look in his eyes was indescribable.
He grabbed the bat from the ground and growled, doing the worst thing possible.
He charged at the two, ignoring their girly shrieks. Alex hit the boy in the head, causing him to fall over unconscious.
Next he targeted the girl, whacking her in the back of the head with a thud. With that impact, I wouldn't be surprised if she were dead.
Alex stood over her body, his eye twitching. The look on his face was terrifying, and if I hadn't known him, I would have booked it by now.
That's when I realized something. He did this for me.
He took the life of two people for me.
He shook his head, blinking. He looked up at me from the few feet away that he was. He stumbled over and kneeled beside me.
He carefully removed my hand from the wound. I winced, ore tears falling from my eyes. He adverted his eyes to mine, causing them to lock. His beautiful brown ones to my green ones. If he wasn't infected I would've already kissed him by now, but I had to be patient.
He looked down at the wound, looking sorrowful. "S-Sorry.." he mumbled. He looked through the bag for a moment, getting out a red shirt. He quickly took off his shirt, wrapping it around the wound like gauze. I couldn't help but stare at his half naked body and fantasize what could have been if we were back in the good times. I blushed, trying to wipe the dirty thoughts from my mind.
At least I have him in my life now.
He pulled the red shirt over his head, and sighed. I didn't know what he was thinking, obviously, but he looked sad. It hurt me to see him sad, especially after all he'd been though. The hurricane, and dying. That's just something you can't shake.
All I know is that I can't take more heartbreak.
We didn't have much food, but we had enough to get by until we could look for more. We also had clothing for times such as this.
I remembered we had gauze in the bag, but honestly I'd rather have Alex's shirt than gauze. It smells like him. The same coffee smell still in it. Even after as many times as he'd washed it.
Well, there's one thing we've accomplished. The deaths of two people.
