home?

I walked inside the mansion, taking in all of the features. It was pretty clean despite the few dust bunnies and random dirty spots on walls and ceilings from leaking rain water. It was a good thing that we had a new place. It seemed better than the base I once use to live in.

No, don't bring that up. I wish I could erase my memories of that place, and my friends, but then Alex would be gone from my mind to. I couldn't have that.

I turned around to see Alex sitting on a countertop, looking like a child. He was slumped over in thought, staring off into the distance. I chuckled quietly, and walked over to him. "Any food in here?" I asked, propping my self up with my elbow on the counter beside him. He just shrugged. "I don't.. k-know.." he mumbled. I nodded. "I'll check the top cabinets, you get the bottom ones."

I started to open one. "I don't think that there would be any food in the fridge unless I told was all spoiled, and rotten." I said, more to myself than anyone, but Alex still heard it nonetheless.

"O-Ok.." He stuttered. I could hear the wooden cabinets closing with a thud after he opened them, and scanned for food. "J-John.. I found.. something.."

I looked toward him. "What is it?" I asked, walking over to where he was. "Can.." he mumbled, trying to read the contents. "It's a can of carrots and peas.. That's better than nothing!" I said, suddenly getting excited. "Yeah.." He whispered.

I nodded, then continued to look above where he'd found the can of peas as carrots. I reached in and pulled out a box of Oreos, much to my delight. "Holy shit! I haven't had these in forever!" I exclaimed happily, holding the container. Alex tilted his head  and tried to see what I was holding. I bent down to his level. "We can save these for a treat, and since you just kicked some ass back there, you deserve many treats." I said softly, offering a cookie. His eyes widened, his eyebrows raised in surprise.

He took a bite, nearly closing his eyes with delight. "Is it good?" I asked. He nodded. I chuckled, setting the cookies on the counter next to the peas and carrots. "I think I might as well check the fridge. You never know.." I said, then carefully opened the fridge. There was some rotten veggies inside, but there was also a frozen pizza that someone had tried to thaw out. Probably the girl and boy.

Well, they didn't need this where they were going.

I quickly added the pizza to the pile of food, which was only three items so far, but that was better than nothing. "See anything else, Lex?" I asked, looking his way. "Uhh.." He mumbled, looking through a cabinet. His eyes lit up. "What is it?" I asked, walking over to him, and getting on the nice tile floor. "Three.. cans.." He said, getting them out. I nodded happily.

"Alright we've got.. corn, more peas and carrots, and canned pasta?" I asked. I've never seen canned pasta before. Maybe it was good?

"Interesting.." Alex mumbled. He still hadn't lost his way with words, that's for sure. I chuckled, putting the cans in the pile of food. "I still have yet to look through all of the upper cabinets. Maybe you could help me?" I asked. He nodded, "but.. how will.. get up there?" He asked, raising a brow. I pursed my lips, contemplating, then nodded with a grin. "I lift you up." He looked unsure before giving in. "Ok.." He mumbled shortly. Alex was very light, due to his state, so it was easy to lift him if I do say so myself.

(You RAISE ME UUUUPPP- yeah I'll go-)

I picked him up by the waist, then let him stand on the counter, trying not to stare at his ass the whole time. Hey, I never said I wouldn't stare for a millisecond.

"Anything?" I asked, peeking from behind him. He shook his head for a second, then nodded quickly. "Two box.." He said, reaching, and pulling out two boxes of pasta. He smiled. "Yes!" I cheered in victory. "We'll have enough food for a while if we use it sparingly.." I said, adding the boxes to the pile. "Yay!" Alex cheered like a child. He tried to find a way to get down. "Here, let me help with that.." I said.

I lifted him gently again, and placed him on the floor, his feet touching it. "Why we explore around?" I asked, peeking into the list area. Alex nodde, then stumbled into the living area as quickly as he could. I walked in behind him.

There was a fluffy love seat, and a leather couch that wrapped around a dark stained coffee table. It was really lovely despite the condition the world was in. I grinned ever so slightly, taking in all of the new features. I looked to the side and saw another cabinet, that was suppose to hold a TV. I checked for food, or something useful. You never know.

After failing, I decided to wander upstairs. The second floor had a balcony to look out onto the first floor, and had quite a few doors. Now, I had to be careful when opening the doors, seeing as there could be a dead person in there, or worse.

I opened the door slowly, thankful for the lack of death inside. Instead, I saw a nicely made bed that had a red and gold cover, and some clothes strewn about on the floor. The clothes looked nice. Maybe we could fit into them nicely.

I looked around. Maybe people decided to hide good things in here. I opened one closet. There were many blankets in towels in it. I looked to the side. There was another door. Maybe it was a closet. I opened it to see a small bathroom. Well, it was pretty large considering, but still sort of small. That explains the towels. I closed the bathroom door, and grabbed a blanket from the closet. I walked back downstairs to see a sleeping Alex. I chuckled quietly. "Sweet dreams, Lex.." I whispered softly, placing the nice fluffy blanket on his scrawny body. I sat on the end of the love seat at his feet and lay my head back. I'd only explored one room so far, but I was hesitant to look through the rest.

Maybe Alex could help me later.

I felt my eyes begin to grow heavy, even though my stomach rumbled. I ignored the hungry sensation. We had enough food for quite a while, but I still only wanted to eat it when I felt like fainting.

I covered Alex's feet with the blanket, and gently lay on his legs, falling asleep myself.
