Chapter 5- Turn Around
(~Your POV~)
Killer finishes adjusting the bandages, "Too tight?" I shake my head, "It's good. Thank you."
He stands up, "Going take a nap. I'll come down to cook lunch in an hour or something." Sans goes quiet for a minute. He stares at me for a while before walking upstairs, "Don't do anything dumb."
I retaliate, saying, "I'm not dumb." "You fell out of a tree yesterday." "THAT was NOT my fault!" I shout.
He heads over to the furthest door on the right, grabbing the door handle. "Sans! Wait!" I call out. Killer stops, glancing in my direction.
'Come on Y/N. Don't be rude. Say it.'
I break eye contact with him, looking at the floor, "Thank you... I'm sorry too.. Y'know, for punching you."
There was a long silence. He quietly goes into the room, shutting the door behind him.
'... At least he knows.'
(~Time Skip 1 Week~)
'I've been stuck down here for 9 days, almost an entire two weeks.'
Sans looks out one of the windows in the living room. It's just completely black from the packed snow against it. He growls, "What the heck? How long is it going to take for this snow to melt?"
I adjust the playing card stack on the middle of the couch, making sure all the cards are straight. Looking at the cards in my hand, I ask, "Do you have a three?" Killer doesn't budge, still staring at the window, "Go fish."
I arch an eyebrow, "You didn't even check your cards." "Don't tell me what to do." "I'm not, I'm just saying. Have you memorized your cards or something?" I calmly respond.
I've learned to be more patient with him, since he does the same with me. As I suspected before, Killer doesn't show much emotion. When he does on rare occasion, he immediately hides from me up in his room.
I don't hear an answer from him. I sigh and take another card from the pile, "It's your turn." "Do you have a five?" "Killer, for the tenth time in a row, no, I don't. Go fish."
Killer turns to me, "You will get one eventually." I laugh at him, "By that point, I might've already won. You won't win if you don't guess anything else."
Suddenly, there's a loud pop and crackle from the back of the house. Some ice or snow must've melted and fried the electrical box outside. The house goes completely dark. I gasp, throwing my cards in front of me.
Power's out.
I hear Sans chuckle, "Ya scared of the dark, N/N?" "FREAKING STAY WHERE YOU ARE! I DON'T LIKE THE DARK, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'RE THE THING LURKING IN IT!"
"Aw, that's hurtful." Sans responds. It sounds like he already moved across the room. He's not in the same spot anymore. My shriek mixes with a whine, "SANS! I sAId DoN'T MOve!"
I hug myself tightly, afraid to get off of the couch and bump into something. Since the snow's covering all of the windows, it's blocking out any of the natural light outside. It's pitch black in here. Until my eyes adjust, probably in a few minutes, I can't even see my own hands.
"Don't worry, Y/N. I'm only going get some candles." Killer assures me. I hear his footsteps go into the kitchen. "I swear if you come at me without warning me, I will snap your spine." I weakly threaten him. We both know I'm bluffing and scared out of my mind.
He's startled me so much in the past few days even when the lights are on or Killer was in plain sight. I can only imagine the terror of him jumping at me in the complete dark.
'I'm living inside of a horror movie. We're snowed in, there's no escape. I'm trapped with a living skeleton that has lost his mind. Also has the appearance of a creature of death. Suddenly, the lights go out, giving him free roam. Wow, look at those odds.'
"Oh please no." I whimper, mostly to myself. Killer exclaims through some laughter, "Hey! Head's up!"
'WHAT?! WHAT IS IT?!'
My heart jumps into my throat when a large object lands on top of me like a sheet. Me, already being in panic mode, ends up screeching and screaming while scrambling under this thing.
In the struggle, I fall off of the couch and harshly smack into the floor. The soft material only encased more around me. Hurried footsteps rush over to me and I'm already convinced it's Killer wanting to live up to his nickname.
The trap around me disappears. A second later, I feel cold bony fingers grab my shoulders, firmly holding me still. "Y/N! It was only a blanket! Geez."
Definitely Sans.
I can hear my own staggered breathing, realizing how childish that fit was.
'I was wrestling with a blanket. Worse part is that the blanket won.'
Now I can see the glowing red target hovering in front of Killer, who's bent down beside me. Still, the initial shock wasn't fading. I'm still breathing with an unstable pace.
"Listen to me. You seriously need to take some deep breaths and calm down. Do you need a chill pill or something? It was a joke, not the end of the world." He says sternly, more in an urgent serious tone rather than a mean one.
I cover my face with my hands, trembling, "I know. I'm sorry."
............
"Come on, sit up." Killer helps me up, having a firm grip on my upper arms. I jump, being able to see the silhouette of his face in the dark. He looks pretty serious.
Sans comments, "I thought we got over this skittish phase. I told ya, for now I won't kill you." I look down, answering through quick breaths, "Considering the fact that you traumatized me before admitting that doesn't help."
"Well, what can I do to help you trust me?" He asks, annoyance in his voice. "Turn around." I mumble.
"What? Y/N, I'm not-" "Do it." I interrupt with a slightly firmer tone than before. Killer has this aggravated expression on his face, one of his eyebrows raised. We both stare at each other for a while.
'Looks like somebody might be hiding that they don't trust me either.'
Finally, he groans and turns around. Sitting next to me while facing the opposite direction, he sasses me, "There. Are ya happy now? It's because of my looks, isn't it?"
I hug him from behind, hiding my face in the back of his jacket. At the first touch, Sans hardcore flinches, stuttering, "W-What are y-you doing?!" "It's a hug, not the end of the world." I mock him.
'If he's really a heartless person, then he'll prove it to me. Smack me, struggle, yell, or maybe even kill me. This is going to be settled right now.'
Killer is definitely very tense. He doesn't say another word. His hands ball into fists, but then tremble. Sans moves a bit and I immediately thought he was going to turn around. He doesn't, freezing up, basically stopping himself and staying in place. His whole body starts to shake.
On the contrary to the scenarios I was expecting, he stays completely still. I can hear him taking some deep breaths, his soul's heartbeat is speeding up a little.
'... No way.. Is he touch-starved?'
That definitely seems like a possibility. Killer acts like he hasn't had a person to talk to in decades. Not even one source of comfort.
The ruins were empty. Talking about his brother was a bad idea since no one lives here besides him. Something must've happened. I pondered about it for a moment.
'Could Sans be the only monster left? Is that why he went crazy? Because of the trauma and isolation?'
So many questions that I can't answer yet. Sans definitely won't be telling me either. I take this moment to catch my breath, calming down. Processing how long this hug is actually lasting, my awkwardness and embarrassment skyrocket. He's still basically a stranger to me.
'AH CRAP!'
I let go of him, my face heating up. Sans sits there and mumbles, "You believe me now?"
