When I'm sitting there, next to you, quiet
Because I can't ask anything of interest
Even though I'd love to know your soul

I've created another you in my head
To serve my love story as a lead

I've written more poems about you
Than I've spent hours with you

And every now and then
When your real hugs feel as warm
As the other version's company did
And I don't want you to ever let go
I realize you don't know any of this
It's all hidden behind my mask

And every now and then
When I still want to know you better
As we're talking underneath the stars
And I want to hold onto our freedom
I realize these moments didn't matter
It's all fantasy, if I told you, you'd ask
