Chapter 4

Ben sighed as he heard the same loud knock from before. He was pretty sure his parents weren't awake yet so he groaned as he opened the door.

"What are you doing here? You know my parents aren't awake at this time right?"

"Yeah I know."

"Okay — what are you doing here?"

Rey shrugged. "I don't know."

"So you decided to wake me up at eight in the morning with no reason?"

"I guess."

"Well if that's it, goodbye, I'm going to sleep."

Ben started to close the door.

"Wait!"

"What is it?"

"Uh do you know Lindsay?'

"Yeah — why?"

"Watch out for her, she's no good and I know."

He rolled his eyes. "Sure, like you're a precious angel." The sarcasm dripped from his voice.

"I am being serious bastard!"

"How would I know?" He shrugged. "You hate me and call me bastard all the time. Since when do you care about the girls I involve myself in?"

"Cause — cause! Shut up bastard!"

Ben laughed as Rey stormed off. She turned around. "This isn't over Solo!"

"Whatever Kenobi!" He shouted back his lips curving into a smile.

Ben glanced at the time, it was time to get ready to meet Lindsay. The warning from Rey still lingering in his mind. He wondered how Rey and Lindsay even knew each other.

He quickly pulled a shirt over his head and sighed. Last time he and Lindsay saw each other it wasn't on the best terms. Ben walked over to his mirror and started to do his hair. As he put in the last of his products he heard his phone go off.

L: So excited to see you <3

B: Yeah you too

Ben rolled his eyes at the hearts that ended each of her texts. He couldn't care less about her at this point but at least she liked him.

He made his way down the stairs grabbing his keys. The place where they were going to meet used to be 'their spot' back in high school. It seemed appropriate for the meeting.

Ben pulled up and parked by the cafe. He got out and headed inside, he spotted Lindsay almost immediately.

She looked almost the same as he last saw her except more mature and older. Her auburn hair was tied up in a simple bun and she was dressed casually. Her eyes widened as she spotted him.

"Ben Solo! Is that you?"

He laughed and let her hug him. "Yeah."

"Well we have a lot to catch up on." She giggled and led him to the table. Ben sat across from her and took the menu.

"So what are you getting?"

"My usual."

"Oh I remember you used to order that every time you came here! You never got suck if it!" Lindsay smiled.

"Yeah, I haven't had it in a while. Hopefully I still enjoy it." Ben laughed.

After some small talk a waitress came by the table. "Hey I'm Rey and I will be your server today." She was looking down at her notepad while talking. After finishing she looked up to face them. Her eyes widened.

"Ben?" She breathed her voice barely a whisper. He was about to answer when Lindsay cut him off.

"Do you know each other?"

"Um well —" Rey stammered.

Ben cut her off. "She's my parents dog sitter." He flashed a quick smile at Rey.

"Oh okay." Lindsay looked down at the menu. "I'd like a chicken Caesar salad and he'd like his usual."

Rey raised her eyebrows.

"Are you deaf? I said his usual!"

"I'm new so I don't know his usual! Can you just tell me?"

Ben opened his mouth to speak but Lindsay cut him off once again. "Manager! We need the manager!"

He soon remembered why he dumped Lindsay.

"But you can just tell —"

"Manager!"

Ben sighed as Lindsay yelled at the girl. He placed a hand on Lindsay's shoulder and hissed in her ear.

"Stop it! The poor girl just needs my order, I'll tell her. You're making a scene!"

Lindsay gulped as Ben turned to face Rey.

"I'm sorry about her but my usual is buffalo wings with a side of fries."

"Okay thank you." Rey grumbled before walking away.

Ben put his hands to his face, this was going to be a long date.

Their food arrived and they ate in silence. Lindsay would try to start conversation but Ben brushed her off with short, blunt answers.

After finishing he paid the bill and walked out of the restaurant with Lindsay by his side. He caught eyes with Rey and flashed her a weak smile as he headed out the door.

"So Ben maybe we could do that again?"

"I'm sorry Lindsay but no. I may have had a thing for you in high school but not anymore. It was nice catching up to you but I'm not interested."

Ben turned away before she could respond and headed to his car.
