Chapter 2

Being normal was always a challenge for this family. it's not really much of a surprise anymore, isn't it? I think that Soph is one of those kids who have been running on coffee way too early or they wake because they feel like it.

This was a norm for little Soph and it wasn't a surprise that it was a hard challenge, trying to get through the house without stepping on a creepy floor board or making any noise in general.

She would get up at 7 or 6 in the morning and change out of her PJ's. she makes sure she has socks on so it'd make her footsteps a little quieter then usual. she slowly turned the knob and peeked out of the door to see if anyone is out there or hear anything at least.

She gets out of her room and closes the door behind her. she tip-toes to the stairs and tries to be as quiet as possible.

Demo would normally be in the living room, either sleeping or awake, reading an unknown book. Soph nor Sarah wasn't allowed to read it. not even Sven or Burt. Demo makes up lots of excuses to not give the book to either of them.

Soph only had to put a spray bottle in the room somewhere so Demo can get distracted by it. (but isn't Demo already distracted by the book?)  then Soph can finally sneak into the backyard and that's about it.

She does it everyday. it doesn't matter what type of weather nor season. well, expect summer. there are lots of mosquitoes during the summer and no one wants to get bit by one so she stays inside. meaning, staying in bed.

Lately, Soph has heard about this thing called "school". it was a strange for Soph. kids going to this school for 7 hours just to learn? Soph cannot really last 2 hours without Sven or Burt. once she was with a babysitter for the day and after it been 2 hours, she starts breaking down.

It's understandable since she's 3 and she still needs them around. she's still a baby in general. I'm too dumb to tell if Soph's a toddler or she's still a baby. maybe a toddler since being a baby means she can't walk or talk. she can only crawl.

rhyming count: 1.

Soph is pretty much outside. for once, the neighborhood isn't covered in fucking snow. it was cold but it wasn't too cold. if it was, Soph wouldn't be outside at all. The small blonde was sitting in the grass, staring at the wilting rose.

She poked it, causing a petal from it to fall into the ground. good thing the wind wasn't strong today or all the petals wouldn't have fallen off. the rose is dying either way, with petals or not.

Soph poked it again but this time, it fell onto the ground. Soph stood up and looked over to a crowd of trees. she could jump over it and walk into the woods. she started walking towards the fence and planned on how she would jump over it.

She noticed a small hole in the fence. it was big enough for her to fit through. before she could even put her thoughts into actions, Sven quickly stopped her by grabbing her arms gently. "what are you doing?!"

Sven's voice was filled with panic and worry. Soph looked at her feet as Sven let go of her arm. "I wanted to go to the other side." Soph fiddled with her shirt as she explained. Sven sighed and shook his head.

"you'll get lost over there, Sophie." Sven started. "and you know that. right?" Sven's voice was oddly as soft and gentle even when he's in the worst state possible. Soph looked up into Sven's blue eyes then nodded.

"Yeah, I know.." Soph didn't like worrying her parents. as much as she seen, it stresses them both out so much. well, Sven wasn't really a person to worry a whole shit ton but now Soph is around, he has more to worry about.

Worrying was supposed to apart of Burt's role but since Soph reminds Sven of his dead cousin, he'd hate to see Soph die right in front of his eyes. no one can really blame him for his worry for daughter since he's a parent now (shout-out to all those parents 😔)

"I'm sorry, Papa." Soph was filled with guilt for worrying Sven but it wasn't her fault. I mean, parents worrying about you every single day, every single hour, minute even seconds. "you have no reason you to be sorry." he spoke gently, brushing Soph's cold hair with his fingers.

Soph's frown has quickly turned into a sweet, small, innocent smile. It's just a typical little girl's smile. they both were led inside after a while since it started to get cold. Soph shouldn't have known that she would be caught. I mean, she should have been expecting Sven or Burt to catch her.

Sven stared off into the woods that Soph tried go to. there was something in there that scared him, he just couldn't put his finger on it or it could be his worry that Soph can get lost in there and never come back.

Maybe that's his fear.. he was sure he wasn't the only one who had that feeling..

..right..?

He dragged Soph inside and looked over to Burt, who was staring at the frost at the window. Sven walked over to him and looked through the frost, it was a clear view off the forest and it gave off a bad vibe for Sven.

".. do you have a bad feeling?"

Burt turned over to the swede, raising a brow. he couldn't tell if he was talking about the fucking blizzard or something else.

"about what?" he asked, making eye contact. "about that forest over there." Sven pointed at the clear view of those tall, dark down trees, standing as proud as they could. though, they are prefect trees to be used in horror movie.

" they're just trees, Sven." Burt laughed. it made Sven sigh and stare at the strange, creepy forest. it gave him chills. "I know but they give some type of bad vibe." he started "I know you get that feeling too.".

Burt's smile disappeared quickly and stared at the dark trees. the feeling started to coming over him like if he was gonna throw up. instead, fear started to build in his body, not sickness. "ah.. I see where your going now." he stood up straight, staring at the blonde with his poker face.

"I know this is an iconic thing to say but.. do you have a feeling your being watched?" he asked, out of the blue. Sven had felt the feeling before but it was more common back at his home-place, Sweden.

"Well, now that I think about it, yeah."

Of course he felt it. I doubt that no human being hadn't got the feeling they're being watched. well, if there is at least one human being that had never gotten that feeling then that HIGHLY impossible once you to sleep after a day of school or some shit.

"I always feel it every night." Burt sighed, breaking the eye contact and looked at the frost. he tried not to stare at the crowd of trees since, it somehow scared him. they're just trees. these are over reacting. (I hope..)

"Is that so? why?" Sven asked. Burt signaled the blonde to follow him, all the way up to their bedroom. the window there was always opened but in this case, it isn't. "whenever this window are open I feel like someone is watching us sleep from there."

Burt pointed to the sidewalk that was visible from that window. "whenever I get up and look through it at night, no one is there. I feel like that forest has something to do with it." Burt huffed and crossed his arms.

Sven studied the sidewalk as long as he could. this feeling was nothing new to him. when he was a teen, he'd walk from school back home and he always felt like someone was watching from the trees or the bushes. (possibly from the houses on the school block.)

"..Maybe it's because we live in this once-abandoned house?"

He did have a point. if you remember the house they cam across in the first book, you'd understand. it was trashed, destroyed, etc.. it made the place look disgusting and sad. to not mention that it looked like a fucking FAMILY lived there once.

The creepy forest in the backyard, was always there..

"Do you think.. that something in that forest, caused that family to disappear and trashed the house..?" the fear in Burt's voice start to show and it kind of worried Sven. it could a possible but who would be living in the forest nearby here?

"Or! maybe lots of drunk teenagers came in here and trashed the whole place and/ or possibly caused gun violence." Sven shrugged. he just spoke his thoughts out when he saw the trashed house by once look. there was NO bullet signs anywhere but it could be possible that someone could have died.

"Could be.. but I still get a bad feeling from those trees in the back yard.." Burt fiddled around with the zipper of his sweater as he spoke.

"Soph noticed a hole in the fence and tried to crawl to the other side. I managed to stop her in time.." Sven reported. Burt quickly shot his gaze over to the swede, eyes filled with horror like if someone died.

"wh-what do you mean she tried to crawl through a hole? there was no hole in the fence!" Burt shouted. his body was shaking with worry and fear. "there wasn't? well, there is now and Soph tried to crawl through it." he replied and Sven was shockingly calm.

...too calm...

"What's worse that it was big enough for Soph to crawl through."

Burt blinked once or twice and took off his classic headphones and top hat. he shoved his two hands into his hair and gripped on them. "who even made the hole!?" Burt screamed, letting go of his hair.

"I don't know! I just saw Soph trying to crawl through it and that's it!" Sven exclaimed. Burt's heart beat increased and he gripped on his bare arms. he gripped on them tight and it could leave marks on there.

"Burt, I know your worried but you need to calm down a bit.."

"HOW CAN I CALM DOWN?! THEY MIGHT BE AFTER OUR DAUGHTER, SVEN!"

Sven stopped breathing for a second. he knew deeply who Burt was talking about. "do.. do your really think that..?" Sven asked, almost whispering. "it.. it could happen.." Burt's worry started to control him, causing him to fall on his knees.

He just couldn't keep his balance anymore. Sven got on his knees as well and carefully brought Burt into a gentle hug. Burt's eyes were still widened and he finally broke down, sobbing onto Sven's shoulder. he's afraid it'll happen.

After awhile, Burt managed to calm down and fall asleep on his shoulder, tear stains marking his cheeks. Sven carefully picked up Burt and placed him on the bed to let him rest a bit. he watched Burt cuddle up in blankets which he found adorable but he suddenly got a feeling.

.. He felt like he was being watched..

The swede stood up from the bed and walked over to the window. like Burt said, no one was one the sidewalk and it was only sun-set. it felt odd.. he wondered if Soph, Sarah or Demo felt the same feeling. he would surprised if they did.

The minute he looked away, the second he felt like this person was looking at him again. he quickly turned around to hopefully catch this person in the act of staring.

... No one...

"Damn.. Burt was right.." he whispered under his breath and gripped on the curtains and closed them to over the window. he knew someone was watching them and they were good at being hidden, even in the sunlight.

Though, Sven was concerned about the hole he found in the fence. it wasn't big enough any adult to crawl through, only children around Soph's age could.

Luckily, Sven and Burt weren't the only ones who knew about the strange hole.

Sarah walked outside, feeling the snow crunch beneath your feet. Sarah remember her first winter being a dead person. she was bare foot and she would walk one way to another with no shoes on.

But, she liked this better, having her black snow shoes on, a jacket warm enough for her to go outside and mittens that Sven has got her as a present on her birthday. the abandoned stores at her home never had any old- worn out mittens in there, so her hands stayed cold all winter.

She was forcefully pushed out of her thoughts once she bumped into the fence. her blank face stared at once of the trees in front of her. Sarah has always wondered why the house had to built behind a forest that looks like it came from a horror movie. (totally normal to Sarah)

Sarah noticed the hole in the fence and raised a brow. 'there was never a hole here...' Sarah thought. she looked through the hole and oddly, there was path. Sarah wondered where it lead to but was way too afraid to crawl through it.

To Sarah, it meant the world to spend time with her new family since she got another chance to live, somehow. Sarah wouldn't trade it for the world. she poked through the whole again and saw someone look at her then duck into the tree.

She screamed and ran inside, quickly took off her snow shoes and rushed upstairs to Sven and Burt's bedroom. all while a tired Demo watched. her face never looked so puzzled on why Sarah decided to scream out of the blue.

"Why was Sari screaming?" Soph asked, looking up from her baby book. (which was upside down XD) "I have no idea." Demo said, closing the book and standing up from her favorite rug. she walked over to the clear door of the backyard.

Nothing scary seemed to be out there.

Strange, Sarah doesn't scream for no reason. Demo shrugged and went back to her favorite rug, opening her book again to read it's endless pages.

Sarah busted open Sven and Burt's bedroom door, covered in sweat since she was still in her winter clothes. "Sarah?! what's wrong?" Sven was still standing near the curtains, peaking now and then to see the strange person who keeps stalking them.

.. As if that'll work.

Sarah slowly walked over to the swede while trying to her breath. when she arrived over to Sven, he took off her jacket and mittens so she could have chance to catch her breath. "now, what was all that screaming about?"he asked as he touched Sarah's smooth raven hair.

"someone is in the backyard." she said as she looked up to the blonde, she couldn't show her eyes were scared and widened so her face was unreadable. "how? did they climb the fence or some-" before he could finish his sentence, Sarah quickly cut him off.

"they were BEHIND the fence. I looked through the hole and they looked back at me. that's when I got startled and started screaming." Sarah explained. Sven nerves started to wake up. they were indeed being watched.

".. Don't go into the backyard anymore. since there's a hug hole in the fence, it's possible that somebody could crawl through it. you understand?" he spoke calmly and Sarah said nothing but nodded her head.

She let go of Sven and walked downstairs to lock the clear backdoor. she noticed the whole once again and saw a somebody looking at her. they looked mad, one could say they looked like they're ready to kill.

Sarah frowned as she stared. they looked like they said something then started to crawl through the hole. Sarah felt her eyes widened and quickly locked it and ran upstairs to look like she was gonna snitch.

she stood on the stairs for awhile before, slowly coming back to face the glass door. nobody was out there. Sarah felt like she was apart of a horror movie. she was filled with fear and and her ears were ringing while her heart was beating fast.

She could barely hear Soph and Demo talk. their voices were muffled due to the ringing in her ears and her thoughts flooding her head. it's almost like that person was aiming for her, to murder her or something.

She had her last thought before she fell on the floor, sending panic to the only two people there, Demo and Soph..
