Chapter Twenty Four

Riley ran with him quickly, tripping only once or twice in her flats. Soldiers were surrounding the front when they went inside, Jack on his gurney as they moved him out. Ratchet was angry of course, shouting at soldiers and at doctors to do something. Jack wheezed weakly and coughed as he started to wake up. Bumblebee rushed in and gripped the gurney, shaking his head angrily. He motioned around to try and get them to stop and explain the situation.

The young woman hurried over and began speaking to soldiers who stopped moving the gurney. "We need you both to move, he is being transferred." A soldier spoke seriously.

Jack slowly looked around then over to Ratchet as he grunted weakly and reached for him. "Why?" Bumblebee forced himself to say as he watched the men. This didn't make any sense.

Ratchet shoved himself forward, pushing passed people angrily. "My son is not going anywhere!" He shouted furiously, desperate and scared to lose another family member. He grabbed the railing of the gurney and began pulling him back to the room.

The soldier glared at the doctor and looked at the blonde. "That is none of your business." He spat before going to stop the old doctor. Bumblebee shook his head not wanting his friend to lose his family. He knew there was something he could do. He had to show them. He grabbed the soldier and pulled him away and down the hallway. The soldier growled as he was pulled away and elbowed him to his face, glaring at the man that wouldn't allow him to do his job.

Jack rasped quietly and gripped his stepfather's hand. "Dad... it's... alright... don't... fight them... I'll be... okay..." he whispered as tears filled his eyes. He didn't want to lose him either and was honestly afraid of what was going to happen.

Ratchet shook his head and gripped his hand tightly. "I'm not letting you go. If you're going I'm coming with you." He spoke seriously, glaring at the men around them. Riley spotted what looked like a photograph in the Colonels hands and frowned.

She looked around then ran to Ethan, speaking quietly to him. Ethan went to the Colonel and spoke to him in hushed voices. The Colonel looked to Ratchet and grunted. "I suppose he can come with." He muttered bitterly.

Bumblebee blinked back the pain and knew he'd get into more trouble but he had to help his friend. He hugged the man from behind and pinned his arms to his side. He glanced around through his pained tears as he tried desperately to help his friends.

The soldier struggled against him, stomping on his foot and elbowing him in the side to try and get free. "Let go of me!" He shouted. Two men ran over and began pulling Bumblebee off the soldier, taking out cuffs.

The scout shook his head and struggled as he resisted. He felt his instincts kick in and he struggled more as they trapped him. His mind instantly went to get free and run. More soldiers ran and worked on pinning him down as they yelled. He shouted silently as tears and blood fell down his face. His eyes wide as they pinned him and cuffed him. He yelled for help, though it was silent, and he started to panic. His mind flashing to when he was fighting cons. Ratchet glanced over and saw, he managed to read a word from the scout's lips. Optimus. He was calling for his leader's help. He was desperate and panicked. But Ratchet couldn't help as he turned the corner.

Bumblebee looked around and he watched as his friend left him there. He left him. Abandoned. He stared blankly and stopped fighting as he felt defeated. He rested his head against the floor and gave up.

Jack stared at his father and nodded slowly as he started to close his eyes. He winced and looked at him again. "Skye... Miko and the boys... they'll be here soon... tomorrow..." he rasped as tears fell down his face. "Riley..." he rasped and looked at Ethan as well. "Please... why... are they... taking me?" He asked.

The Colonel nodded to Ratchet, letting him go with the prisoner who helped Jack to the large ambulance outside. Ratchet nodded as he got into the ambulance with his son as they put the gurney in. Ethan followed the old doctor to help him. Riley followed and pushed back his hair. "They're taking you to their base but I doubt you will be there long. Fowler is there and can help you. Just sit tight and rest, okay?" She said gently, frowning.

The man nodded slowly and sighed shakily in relief. He looked at her and smiled a little. "Thank you... please... let Skye know we'll be okay." He whispered.

"I'll do that, don't worry Jack." Riley smiled a little, watching them close the doors. Jack smiled in thanks and looked at the older man. He stared at him then gently gripped his hand before closing his eyes to rest again.

The doctor sat down and the vehicle began moving to the base. He held his stepsons hand tightly, holding it close to his lips. He released a stressed sigh, shaking his head as he closed his eyes. Jack fell asleep then, unsure if he'd be able to go home. They later got to their destination and helped the father out then wheeled him inside.

They took him to the medical section of the base silently. Ratchet stayed right beside him the whole way, worried. The old doctor realized Skye had no idea what was going on. She wouldn't for a while. Hopefully Riley would tell her. Ratchet helped bring Jack into one of the rooms and frowned. He sat down next to the bed and sighed softly, worried. He hoped Skye and Jack would be alright

They sent a nurse in to check him over then walked off when he was good. They then sent for a meal for the two. Ratchet glanced at them but didn't pay attention to them, focused on his stepson. He smiled a bit, seeing he was okay.

The colonel had the soldiers bring Bumblebee over. They lifted him up and brought him to him, the man glaring at him. "Who do you think you are?" He asked firmly.

Bumblebee thought for a long time and looked at him with empty eyes. "No one..." he rasped weakly and looked back at the floor. He had resisted the soldiers arrest and he knew he'd have to go in.

Riley ran back inside to check on Bumblebee, Ethan following quickly. Her eyes widened seeing him cuffed. She saw the Colonel speak to him and hurried over. "He's my uncle... I'm sorry, we just get worried with family." She spoke quickly, concerned they may take him away too, and also trying to defend his actions.

The Colonel stared at her then nodded to the soldiers who took the scout to the cars outside. Riley's eyes widened and filled with tears, shaking as she watched three family members leave, all three taken by the soldiers. Ethan hugged her gently and she hugged him in return, worried. She hoped she could see them when she worked the next day.

Bumblebee stared at the floor as he walked to the car. He let them put him in and he just stared blankly at nothing in particular. He didn't see a reason to fight at the moment. A man got into the front seat as soldiers sat beside him. The man drove to the base silently, frowning deeply. Bumblebee didn't say or do anything as he just stared. He sighed forcefully and closed his eyes then leaned back in his chair. He messed up.

Riley left the hospital and began hurrying home, bringing Ethan. They went to her home and she ran to go find her father, seeing if he was awake. Sari was awake and so was Quinn, they knew their dad was home and they were snuggled with him. He was barely awake and looked over at Riley as she came in. "What's wrong?" He rasped.

She gathered the notes quickly, looking at him. "Jack is being taken to the military base with Ratchet. Bumblebee got arrested. Ratchet told me Skye hasn't come back yet but I have work. Ethan is going to tell Skye when he goes back to the hospital." Riley explained as she stuffed the notes in the bag. She then went over to him and sat next to him. "I don't know how long I will be gone so Skye and Ethan might have to help bring Miko and the others here. Just stay here, okay? Relax." She hugged him gently.

Raf blinked in surprise then grunted as he sat up. He listened to her and glanced to the other man. "Okay.... okay... that's a lot to process... but alright be safe." He whispered. "I can... go... with you..." he mumbled.

She nodded slowly, frowning a bit. She hugged him tighter as she then shook her head. "No, you need to stay here." She said quietly, burying her face into his neck. "I love you, you need to recoup from the... base..."

Rafael tensed a little then nodded quickly as he hugged her. "Thank you... please be safe...." he begged as he held on to her.

Riley frowned a bit and nodded, slowly letting go. "I'll be safe. Just stay here and make sure Quinn and Mom are okay." She said quietly and got up.

The father nodded slowly and looked at her for a moment. He gripped her face and kissed her forehead. "Please be safe... we're trying to stay together." He mumbled.

She blinked in surprise and smiled a bit. "I know, don't worry Dad." She said gently and calmly kissed his cheek before grabbing her things then leaving quickly.

Raf watched her go then smiled sadly. The young man that left with her was so confident. He chuckled softly and looked at his small daughter. "Quinn... can you go play in your room for a moment? Daddy needs to talk to mommy." He whispered. She nodded and hugged him then headed out to her room. Raf sighed forcefully and sat up a little better when his door closed. He rubbed his head and grunted as he took his shirt off to change it. Sari could see the awful scars that ran up his spine and along his upper arms.

Saris' expression fell at the sight of the ugly scars. She frowned deeply. She hated seeing them. "Are they bothering you?" She asked quietly. "The scars..." she whispered. Rafael shook his head slowly and set his glasses aside. He sat on the edge of the bed and gripped it as he hung his head. Sari sat up weakly and reached out, rubbing his back gently. "Want to talk to me about it?" She whispered, her brow furrowing.

He shook a little and sighed shakily as he tried to calm. "The cell... it was small and dark... just... just like... in Darkmount..." he rasped. "I tried to stop... the attack...." he mumbled as his scars throbbed from the memories. "H... h..." he shook his head again and sighed forcefully.

She got closer and hugged him gently, burying her face into his shoulder. "You know you're safe... right? Nothing is going to happen to you here." She spoke softly.

He sighed forcefully as he shook and squeezed his eyes shut. He could remember the experiments the cons did on him. "H... how much... dark... energon is... inside me?" He choked and felt sick again. He hated to think about the injections they put in him.

Sari shushed him gently to calm his fears. "That isn't for you to worry about." She whispered. "You're safe now. You're okay now. You're with family." She kissed his temple gently, holding him close but not tight enough to make him claustrophobic.

Rafael nodded slowly and hugged her close as he rested his head against hers. "I'm not worried about myself... I'm worried about the girls.... what... What did the experiments do to them? Did the dark energon affect them?" He rasped.

She frowned deeply, tensing as she hadn't thought of that before. "I-I don't think so... unless it messed with your DNA somehow." She muttered, not sure how that worked. "They seem fine now, Raf. Don't worry." She said with a little smile, trying to reassure him.

He nodded slowly and held on to her tightly. He didn't like to think about his time in Darkmount, but he couldn't hide it forever. He needed help and knew it. He had buried this for years, but his time in the cell brought it all back. "You're right... I shouldn't... I shouldn't worry..." he whispered.

The soldiers came to the building and yanked the scout out of the car. They took Bumblebee inside and brought him to the holding cells. The other soldiers were silent as they followed. Bumblebee looked at the door to the cell and looked at the floor again. He sighed shakily and bit his lip as he entered it. He figured he would be here for the rest of his life.

They put him in and un-cuffed him then left, closing the door. Soon Fowler came over, snorting softly in amusement. "You're back already?" He asked, smiling a bit. Bumblebee didn't respond as he stayed in the corner like Raf had. He was hugging his knees and had his face buried.

The agent's smile faded and he frowned, worried. "Bumblebee?" He asked quietly, looking at him with concern. The scout didn't respond and gripped his arm for a few minutes. He tensed and stayed there. He didn't know what to do and felt lost.

Fowler sighed softly and leaned against the bars. "Bumblebee... they will only hold you in for the night. Relax." He said gently. Bee shook his head and stayed silent as he remained in that position. He gripped his hair as he sat there. He didn't care if he was here forever. Fowler frowned more and sighed, before leaving quietly, not knowing what he could do. Talking to him didn't seem to work.

Bumblebee couldn't speak. He wasn't able to and looked up at the door. He wiped his tears away as he thought about what to do. He curled up on the floor and faced the wall as he squeezed his eyes shut. Keeping his back to the door.

Soldiers walked by but none paid attention to him. Hours passed, the dark room seemingly getting darker with each hour that went by. Bumblebee sighed forcefully and curled up more as he tried to sleep. He didn't know what time it was and didn't care. He was just done right now. A soldier soon came by and placed a tray of food inside the cell before walking off. It was warm soup and water. He didn't touch it though and just remained there. He sighed forcefully and rocked slowly. He stopped after a bit and let his tears fall as he drifted off.

After a long time, Ratchet had come over to his cell silently. He went to the bars and gripped them tightly as he helped himself sit, grunting a bit at his old knees. He was silent, keeping the younger man company. Bumblebee heard movement and jumped up. He sat up and looked at him then blinked in surprise. He watched him then narrowed his eyes as his tears fell.

He wasn't happy that the man left him. He wasn't happy to see him either.
