Commence the Adventure

He gasps for breath.

Louis struggles to open his eyes and move his limb as he feels tiny and soft particles tickling his body.

Sand?

His features light up. He's okay; he's back on the beach and perfectly fine. Running a hand over his sunken face he begins to laugh quietly to himself.

"You're okay Louis. Hang in there." He removes his hand and takes a look up. What he sees is most definitely not the beach back home, but a marvelous array of jungle trees and other flora. The sky is bright and houses a glaring sun. He must have been here or on the water for a long time for it to already be this late.

"What the f-" he trails off and scatters back on all fours. Louis darts up and runs to one side of the beach hoping that he will somehow see home.

"Fuuuuu. Where the heck am I?" He covers his mouth with his hand and his brows furrow fully while he stares at the canopy before him. Honestly, how did he get here? Where is here?

This isn't home. This isn't where he should be. This isn't even his dumb old beach. How is he going to get back? What is he going to eat? How will he survive? Sure, Louis has seen a few episodes of those survival shows but those can only help him to a certain extent.

Realizing the severity of his situation, his breathing increases and worrying takes over every corner of his brain.

"Is anybody there?" he cries out, "Somebody! Anybody! Help me!" His voice screeches but he doesn't care. He must get back home.

"Hel-" and he blacks out once more.

He wakes up in the exact same spot.

"Dagnabbit, it wasn't a dream," he wails out, "Why couldn't it be a dream." He gets up with little energy and tears up. Uselessly, he sits there in the sand with his feet crossed as the tears trickle down his face.

"You know what? Get back in there," he speaks to himself at a high volume at first, but quiets down as he gets the the last words, "No more crying, I'm done crying. I'm done." Taking a deep breath, deeper than he ever has and feeling like he is sucking the whole world into his being, he stands up, looks around and decides that he will make this place his bush.

He sniffles once more, and wipes his nose, a vulnerable look taking over his features until it is graced with a fierce look filled with drive.

He will make the best out of the situation. Not only is he tired of crying but also of always being that sad boy who can't get a grip on his life. Done with that image, he chooses then and there that he will turn his life around.

"Supplies," he clasps his hands together and rubs them, looking around. There isn't much on the beach besides a few trees and what looks like endless water. Food will most likely only be found deeper in the jungle.

"Pockets!" he swiftly moves his hands to his waterproof pockets and pulls out his wallet, keys, and phone. His phone!

He dials 911 in a instant, but the call drops. His brows furrow and he looks at the notifications bar.

"No signal. Of course," Louis stresses. Maybe if he walks along the length of the beach he can get more bars. He tries this, but to no avail. "Great."

He scans his options. Top priority are food, water, and shelter. He is most definitely going to have to travel deeper into the jungle for those. Hesitantly, he moves closer to the trees and looks inside.

"Mmmm," he mutters.

It's now or never. He confidently walks in.

"Hey this isn't so... bad," he mumbles as he walks over fallen branches and plants he has never seen before with fruits that he would only ever see in his dreams. It shocks him how the jungle is so colorful. Movies have shown him what the jungle 'looks like' but this place looks significantly different. An over abundance of colors is what he sees as well as plants that don't seem normal.

He falls over a branch and braces his arms in front of him to soften the landing. On the floor, he opens his closed eyes and the blue irises land on a bug that resembles a butterfly's wings but that has the body of a centipede.

"No no no no," he shrieks and stands up. He runs faster through the jungle, ignoring the luminescent heart shaped fruit with dots on its surface.

Tired and out of his mind, he puts his hands on his knees and breathes. Looking around, he sees that it looks like a decent place to stay for a bit. A plant with the largest leaves he has ever seen, possibly larger than an elephant, cover him which can be good shelter for rain and sun.

He notices another plant nearby with white berries. He isn't completely stupid, he knows that plants and animals can be poisonous, but he is most likely going to try those odd berries and see if they will help him survive, or not. On a tree adjacent to him, he notices that the leaves are cup shaped and hold pools of water.

"Thank God!" he exclaims as he holds the leaf up to his mouth and takes gulp after gulp. With that, the young man feels substantially refreshed and ready to hunt for supplies. But before he can do that, he will make a makeshift bed. Who knows how long he will stay here.

He pulls a leaf off of the unique tree and tries folding it, making a pillow that he hopes will be comfortable. His fingers touch the dirt and the softness of the soil brings him relief.

"Okay. Not too uncomfortable," he smiles softly to himself.

Shelter? Check. Water? Check. Food? No check.

With suspicious eyes, he looks at the berries and huffs. He collects a few just incase. He will look around a bit more to see if he can find normal looking fruits. He travels what he believes to be at least a mile and finds a few more fruits (or vegetables?) that don't look ordinary at all but seem interesting. With some trouble he is able to find his shelter and gets a rock to carve arrows on trees in order to lead him back in the future.

Louis lays another leaf on the floor and places each fruit in front of him. There are five different kinds in total. The first is the berry that looks exactly like a raspberry but is fully white. The next is a hook shaped pink fruit with dents in its surface. The following is yellow pear shaped fruit with soft nubs erupting from the bottom. Then is a coconut which he thankfully found a little closer to the beach. Finally, is a jelly like liquid encased in a clear circular case.

Out of all of them, the coconut looks safest so he searches around with his bright blue eyes to find a sharp rock. Finding one proves to be a bit difficult so Louis cracks a large rock he finds on another rock to form the sharp edges. He succeeds and smiles proudly at himself.

Louis lifts both hands in the air and is ready to strike the coconut with his full force. The coconut is placed on another rock to help with the collision. In an instant, his hands go down and they squash against the coconut as it crumbles like jelly between his fingers.

"Yuck!" he grimaces and flails his hands around. Instead of the usual white color on the inside is a bright green color and the coconut is not hard at all but rather soft like a watermelon.

Of course, this just had to happen. Either way, Louis cautiously puts the food up to his lips and takes a small bite. Swishing it around in his lips for a few seconds, it doesn't seem to harm him so he takes larger bites and savors the sweet and exotic taste of the newfound food.

He tries this again with the rest of them and is pleasantly surprised by a few, but then he eats the bitter tasting white berry and the hooked shape fruit. Both leave his mouth feeling numb and give him a rash in places he shouldn't have rashes.

Well, this will certainly be an adventure.

/ It will Louis, it will. Watch out for the rest of the chapters because things are about to get heated. Please share, comment, and vote! Make this Larry lover happy. Or not. Either way I appreciate you all! :)
