soda's pov

Its been 2 weeks since Steve confesses his love to me and it's been the best 2 weeks of my life. me and steve would sneak out and go to an old abonnded building and just spend are time in each others.
"come on your brothers are probably wondering where you took off to." Steve said geting up.

"okay." I said. sadness washing over me. steve stops walking and looks me in the eyes.

"we can come back later of you want?" i smile and nod my head before pulling him into one final kiss. we walk out of the vacant building and heads to my house. the walk was quiet but not a awkward quiet it was a i just wanna walk next to you quiet if that even makes sense. we walk up to the house and hear darry yelling from inside.

"WHY DON'T YOU EVER USE YOUR HEAD!" Darry yelled." ALL I WANT IS FOR YOU TO GET GOOD GRADES AND GO TO COLLEGE!"

"I'M TRYING DARRY!" pony yelles. i could tell he was crying by his voice.

"NOT HARD ENOUGH!" he yelled back."ME AND SODA WORK OUR ASSES OFF JUST SO WE CAN PAY THE BILLS AND SEND YOU TO COLLEGE!"

"IT'S NOT LIKE I TOLD YOU OR SODA TO STOP SCHOOL TO TAKE CARE OF ME!" pony said "YOU COULD OF STUCK ME IN A BOYS HOME AND HAD A GOOD LIFE WITH OUT ME ALWAYS GETTING IN THE WAY!"

"MAYBE I SHOULD OF JUST DONE THAT!" i could hear footsteps runing towards the front door. pony came running out passing me and Steve and runing down the street. he had tears rolling down his face and his eyes were red.

"soda.." darry tryed but I just walk past him but stop when i get to the front door.

"you promised you would stop fighting." and with that i let the front door slam behind me

it was almost dinner and ponyboy still wasn't home the whole gang was here already except for two-bit.i was beginning to worry about him. what if something happened to him? just then two-bit walked and seen my face.

"don't worry pony's at my house." two bit said. "poor kid was bawling his little heart out."

"did he eat?" I ask.

"he didn't want to eat anything Earlier."

"okay well i made him a plate of chicken and dumplings." darry said. i was really upser with darry. he broke his promise.

"SODA,TWO-BIT,STEVE,DALLY ANYONE HELP!" ponyboy yelled. i get out of my chair and run down the street.

'AHH!" i reach the lot and sees the soc siting on pony with a knife to his cheek. i went white at the sight of blood on the knife.

"SHUT HIM UP! WERE ALREADY GOING TO KILL HIM FOR KILLING BOB, WE DON'T NEED THE WHOLE CITY HEARING IT!"
I run up to the soc and punch him in the face. i rush over to ponyboy. tears were running down his face. i grab the handkerchief and hold it to pony's cheek to stop the bleeding.

"im sorry."he whispered

"why are you sorry baby. you didn't do anything." i turn my head to see steve by my side.

"for you droping out of school and haveing to go to work everyday just for me."

"ponyboy, none of that is your fault okay. it's so over and done with nothing we can do now." he sighed and got up. i look at darry and tell him to leave my kid brother alone in the coldest voice I could. i walk next to Steve on the way home. i make sure none is looking and pulls him into a kiss.
