The Mall
Mike's p.o.v
I need to let someone know about my crush on El. I don't even know how to deal with these types of things, so I could mess something up really bad, and I really don't want to do that. El was so perfect and amazing, and I really liked her, so if I never got at least a chance with her, then I wouldn't know what I would do.
"Hey Lucas, I need some advice," I whispered to him as we left Scoops Ahoy.
"Mike, if this is about El, just get her a present or something. Take her out to dinner maybe. Like on a date," Lucas said rolling his eyes. Was it that obvious that I had a crush on her?
"Thanks," I said as Lucas walked off.
If Lucas was right, then I would look for a present for her. I only have like $3.50 so it might be a little tricky. Maybe I can take her to go see the stars somewhere. Oh, and I can take a pic-nick with us too!
There was only one problem though. WHAT IN THIS MALL WAS LESS THAT $3.50 THAT WAS THOUGHTFUL? Maybe I could get her a little teddy bear or something, I don't know.
I walked around the mall for about and hour before I finally found the perfect gift. It was a little charm bracelet. It had Eggo waffle charms all over it. I think El will really like it because while we were unpacking, El was talking about how much she loved Eggos. One of the best things about it was that it was on clearance too! It was selling for $3.50 exactly!
By the time I had walked out of the store, I had about 45 minutes to get to the movie theater. Maybe I can just go a little early. It won't hurt. It will probably take me about 15 minutes to walk there anyway.
As soon as I got there, I saw El. She was sitting on the bench that was just outside of the movie theater. It was weird though because Max wasn't with her. It kind of made me nervous too. Being alone with my crush was something that was very new to me. Heck, having a crush was very new to me.
As I walked up to her, she looked over at me and smiled.
"Hey," She said, still smiling. Her smile was like the sun, it was so warm and bright, and it filled me with butterflies.
"H-hi," I responded sitting next to her. Oh, I need to ask her to dinner, "El, I was wondering, if you wanted to go star watching with me tomorrow night," I said, trying not to blush or stutter.
"O-ok," She said looking into my eyes.
It was like when we were at Scoops Ahoy, once her eyes met mine, I was lost in their honey colored depths. Her eyes were some of the most beautiful things in the universe. Suddenly it was like a magnet was pulling our faces together. My eyes flicked down to her lips, before resuming eye contact, and hers did the same. When we were about an inch apart, someone walked up to us.
We snapped out of it and looked up at a boy about our age. I didn't know him, but he looked familiar so he probably went to our school. He seemed like he was pretty popular, so I don't know why he would even be talking to me or El. Wait. He wanted to talk to El.
"How can I help you?" She asked putting on a fake smile.
"Did you just come out of an oven? Because your hot," He said, looking her up and down. It was obviously making her really uncomfortable, and that made me really angry, and I needed to help her.
"Actually, this is my girlfriend, so if you could leave her alone, that would be great," I said in a snarky tone.
"Well sweetheart, I hate to break it to you, but you could do much better," The boy said looking at El and gesturing to himself.
"If your idea of better is a rude jerk who runs around the mall trying to find girls, then I'll pass. I'd much rather have my boyfriend who is not only handsome on the outside but handsome on the inside too," She said following along.
"Just give me a chance-," The boy said, now begging.
"I think what she just said was to buzz off,"I responded to him.
"Fine, jeze," He said rolling his eyes and walking off.
"T-thanks for helping me out," She said while looking down and blushing
"N-no p-problem," I responded.
I couldn't help but stare at her. She was so beautiful. And for anybody to make her uncomfortable, well, it made me uncomfortable too. I didn't want her to have to deal with that.
We sat in silence for another 5 minutes before every one else showed up. Once they got there, we all agreed on going to watch Back to the Future. It had just come out, and every body said that it was really good.
The whole movie, I couldn't get the fact out of my head that El called me handsome. On the inside and outside no less. I was probably just her following along though. If she was going to pretend to be my girlfriend then she needed to say something like that. After all, she was trying to get the guy to leaver her alone.
El's p.o.v
"Max," I groaned,"I don't want to shop anymore," Max and I had been running around the mall for about an hour now, and it was getting really tiring.
"Fine with me! You can just go wait by the movie theater if you want," She responded.
"Yay!" I yelled running off.
When I sat down on the bench, I couldn't help but think about Mike. He was just so amazing. He let me ride on the back of his bike, he was always super nice, and he was always really awkward. I was really falling for him.
A certain movement pulled me out of my thoughts, and I looked over to see Mike walking t'words me. He had a little bag in his hand, but I decided to ignore it.
"Hey," I said to him smiling.
"H-hi," He responded while looking the shade of a fire truck. "El, I was wondering, if you wanted to go star watching with me tomorrow night," He said. It looked to me like he was trying not to blush or stutter. It was really cute.
"O-ok," I said looking into his eyes. His beautiful eyes, they were like an ocean, and I feared that if I went too deep, I would drown. A little part of me wondered if drowning would be so bad though. It was like a magnet was pulling us closer and closer while we stared into each others eyes. Suddenly his eyes flickered down to my lips, and I couldn't help but do the same. As our faces were about an inch apart, we were snapped out of our thoughts.
A boy about our age came up to us. Mike looked really confused at first, until a look of realization came across his face. He must have realized something I hadn't. I shouldn't be rude though.
"How can I help you?" I asked plastering on a fake smile.
"Did you just come out of an oven? Because your hot," He said, looking me up and down. It was making me really uncomfortable, and I let out a silent plea that someone would help me.
Luckily my pleas were answered as Mike said for me, "Actually, this is my girlfriend, so if you could leave her alone, that would be great," Wait. He just called me his girlfriend. Of course it was just to get me out of this situation, but it still gave me the butterflies.
"Well sweetheart, I hate to break it to you, but you could do much better," The boy said looking at me and gesturing to himself. Oh no he didn't. He just insulted Mike. He was not going to get away with that.
"If your idea of better is a rude jerk who runs around the mall trying to find girls, then I'll pass. I'd much rather have my boyfriend who is not only handsome on the outside but handsome on the inside too," I mean yeah, I was trying to follow along, but I also meant what I said. I wanted to let Mike know that I cared for him.
"Just give me a chance-," The boy said, now begging. It was pathetic really. He was this desperate for attention.
"I think what she just said was to buzz off," Mike responded to him.
"Fine, jeze," He said rolling his eyes and walking off. Probably going to go flirt with some other girls.
"T-thanks for helping me out," I said looking down and blushing. It was really brave of Mike to protect me like that.
"N-no p-problem," He responded.
I could tell he was looking at me, and I didn't mind. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the caring look he was giving me. It gave me more butterflies, and I blushed from the feeling. We sat there for about 5 more minutes before the rest of the gang got to the movie theater. Apparently we all agreed on Back to the Future, which was fine with me. But I couldn't stop thinking about Mike. He had been so brave when he protected me. He had shown me a side of himself that was confident, and to be honest, it only made him more attractive.
Not only had he protected me, but he asked me out on a date too. A DATE! Max would definitely be hearing about this when I called her. Well, she was sitting right next to me, but I don't want to go all fan girl in public. Mike might think I was weird, and then he might not want to take me out on a date anymore.
I also needed Max to help me pick out an outfit too. I wanted to look good. My taste in fashion wasn't really the best, so I needed all the help I could get.
--------------------------------------------------
At first I was thinking about Mike and El going to the Snow Ball together, but I thought that it would be better if they actually went on a date. I might include the Snow Ball later though.
