"Aaannnnddd... DONE!" You pushed yourself away from your desk, your office chair making small squeaking noises as you rolled away from your desk. With a groan of relief, you rubbed your face, and went limp in your chair. You had finally finished an exam you had due five days from now, and you were EXHAUSTED. You were a student in NYC University, and you were popularly acclaimed as the best student in the university. Honestly, you were just trying your best to graduate so you could make your parents happy. You got up out of your uncomfortable office chair, made your way over to your bed, and fell face first into your bed, it's perfect warmth and comfort lulling you in. You sighed in content, and rolled onto your back. Now, the question is, did you have a boyfriend? Like, another student? Well, no you didn't. You haven't dated anyone, because, you always turned down guys, and your friends HATED it when you did that, but you didn't want to date anyone. You left your love back in (h/t). And as cheesy as that sounds, and no matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise, it was true. And no matter how many times people tried to tell you, "(y/n), he was just a childhood crush! You need to let him go!" But you couldn't. You could never forget your Toasty... You rubbed your eyes, and looked at your nightstand, and found a picture that made you smile. A picture of you and your childhood best friend, Ken, right before you moved from your hometown. It was a picture your mother took of you two. You were on Ken's back, and you had your arms wrapped around his neck, holding onto him, while smiling brightly, and Ken had a hold of you as well, with a big smile on his face. You both looked so happy. You smiled and grabbed the picture off the nightstand, staring at it and recalling amazing memories that brought an even bigger smile to your face. You sighed happily, and put the picture back on the nightstand. You rolled onto your side, and clutched the silver and ruby pendant dangling from your neck tightly. Yes, you still had the necklace he gave you, and you always wondered if he kept that hat you gave him. It was a little pathetic considering the gift he gave you, but does the hat mean as much to him as the necklace does to you? Thinking about Ken and your hometown caused your eyelids to grow heavy, and slowly droop, until you eventually fell asleep...

Meanwhile, back in your hometown...

"DAMN IT KEN, I'VE GIVEN YOU SO MANY HINTS, AND MADE SO MANY MOVES ON YOU, YET YOU STILL REJECT ME!!! AND WHAT'S UP WITH YOU WEARING THAT PATHETIC BROWN HAT ALL THE TIME??? Wait... Don't tell me... YOU'RE STILL IN LOVE WITH HER, AREN'T YOU??? (Y/N)!!! SHE'S GONE, KEN!!! AND DON'T YOU KNOW??? I AM THE HOTTEST GIRL IN TOWN, YOU SHOULD FEEL--" The obnoxious voice was cut off by a door slamming. Once the door closed, the owner of the voice became furious, and tried to open the door, but to no avail, since the one she was yelling at locked it, keeping her from leaving. The one she was yelling at left the house, he knew she would get out of that room eventually. And who was getting yelled at? Why, none other, than Kenneth Charles Morrison, also known as Ken, (y/n)'s childhood friend. He walked down the street, into the moonlit woods, and just walked. Who was yelling at him? None other than Cassie, (IF YOUR NAME IS CASSIE, I AM SO SORRY) the town beauty. She has been... "In Love" with Ken for awhile, but he never even batted an eye at her whenever she flirted with him. He kept walking through the woods, until he reached a familiar spot. A clearing in the woods, that the moon shone in on perfectly. It had wildflowers spread throughout the field, and fireflies flying throughout the clearing. The moonlight, combined with the fireflies, gave it the perfect glow. Ken walked into the middle of the clearing, and fell into the grass, facing the sky, his bear hat almost falling of, but he adjusted it once he laid down. Once he was drawn into the stars,  his mind, once again, wandered to you. He wondered how you were doing in New York. He wondered if you had a boyfriend, of if you were married even. He wouldn't be surprised. Boys were probably all over you wherever you were. He closed his eyes and sighed. He really missed you. He really wanted to see you, and see that smile that always cheered him up when he was younger. He opened his eyes slightly, being greeted by the moon and stars. He closed his eyes again, whispering something he always said before he fell into the world of dreams. "I miss you so much, Sunshine..."

Back to you, in New York! Whoo!

You were awakened to the sound of your phone ringing. You opened your eyes, and looked at who was calling. Your father. It was 4:30 in the morning... If he was calling at this time, it must be important. You answered it, and groggily answered, "...Hello...? Daddy, what's wrong...?" He replied as if he had been crying for ages." (y/n)... It's your mother.... I'm at the hospital... Get here quickly..." You didn't need any more convincing. You bolted out of your bed, threw on your shoes, grabbed your keys, and bolted out of your dorm room. You ran until you reached your car, you hopped in, and after you turned it on, you screamed out of the campus, and towards the hospital. You were surprised you didn't get pulled over, but you're also glad you didn't. You reached the hospital, and ran inside. The clerks seemed to know where you were headed, and pointed you towards a room down the hall. You busted in to find your mother in the hospital bed, and your father next to her. He looked up at you, and it looked like he had been crying for hours. He stood up, and moved to the side, so you could see her. You slowly walked over to her, and  sat down next to her, tears starting to fall from your (e/c) eyes. "M... Momma...?" She opened her eyes slowly, and turned towards you, a small, weak smile appearing on her face. "H-Honey... You're here... I... Wanted to see you... Before..." You immediately grabbed her hand. "N-No Momma, you're fine! You're gonna be OK! I p-promise..." She gave your hand a reassuring squeeze. "Baby, it's OK... I just... wanted to tell you s-something... You're father is... *Cough Cough*... Retiring... And... He won't work anymore... I want you to promise me something, OK...?" You nodded. She continued to speak. "Y... You'll go back to (h/t)... Live there... Like we used to.... Your father already has your college set up, you won't be on campus anymore... Will you go and live your life back in (h/t).... For me, (y/n)?" You nodded slowly. She smiled again, and turned her head. She closed her eyes slowly, and let out a slow sigh. Then. The continuous sound of the monitor flat lining. You broke down. You cried and cried, and your father cried as he hugged you. And you would do what your mother wanted. You would go, and live in (h/t) again. But that thought lead to another thought. Would Ken still be there?
