Gale handed me a cup of hot cocoa despite asking for coffee. Gale still saw me as a child, which I wasn't mad about, I loved it. I liked that someone saw me as the child I was. Though I didn't feel like one after the Woodsboro murders last year.
"So, you and Rory seem close" Gale noted, setting her cup on the coffee table.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that" I stared off into space for a minute before speaking again. "Gale, can I ask you something?"
"Sure, anything, kiddo. What's on your mind?"
"How did you know you were ready to start dating again after Dewey died? I've seen the movies, I know you guys had a past"
"When you meet the right person you just know, you don't have to think twice about it" She answered, "What is this about?"
"Rory and I kissed last night"
"Oh- that's good, right?" Gale asked me. "Because you don't sound too thrilled"
"No, I am. I really like her, I really do" I confessed, "But some fucked up part of me still loves Amber despite everything she put me through"
"Love is strange like that. But you shouldn't let someone who didn't truly love you have control over your life" Gale held her arms out and I gave in, flopping onto her lap. Gale sighed, running her fingers through my dirty blonde hair. "This isn't your t-shirt" She realized.
"It's not" I laughed, only now realizing Rory and I had accidentally switched shirts.
I drifted off to sleep in Gales lap after sitting in silence for a while. The possibility that I could die haunted me. Sidney was living proof the main characters don't always have to die. She settled down with that detective and started a family. I pictured Rory and I out on a ranch somewhere with two boys, as well as a dog —a golden retriever, I've always wanted one.
I was woken up by Brooks —Gales boyfriend, bring thrown through the bookshelf, shattering any glass object the large bookshelf held.
"Ah fuck, not this again" I whined.
Ghostface jumped whatever was left of the bookshelf then proceeded to jump the couch and completely ignore me. That was a first. I watched as Ghostface chased Gale to the kitchen, then to the terrace. I honestly thought I was hallucinating because there is no way Ghostface acknowledged my presence yet didn't attack me.
"Logan run!" Gale screamed as she ran by.
I wasted no time and sprinted towards the exit. I ran a couple doors down and banged my fist on the door.
"Jeez kid, what do want?"
"Call the police. Someone's trying to us" Fuck was I out of shape. How the hell did I get winded from running a couple doors down?
"Who's we?" The woman asked, completely unbothered at the fact that a killer was in the building.
"Call the damn cops bitch!"
The woman reached into her pocket to grab her phone and dial 911. I glanced back over at Gales apartment before making a b-line for her apartment. When I entered, Ghostface was on top of Gale, ready to initiate the final blow.
"Hey, fucker! Wanna try killing me again?" Ghostface spun his head right around, "Let's see if you actually succeed this time"
Ghostface picked his knife up off the ground. I didn't think this through. I ran back out the door, this time Ghostface hot on my tail. When I reached the stairs Ghostface threw himself on me. My head was smashed into the concrete wall and we rolled down the second set of stairs. Ghostface raised his arm and punctured my lower abdomen with the already bloody knife.
The sounds of sirens could be heard, but barely. "Better run before they catch you" I spat out.
Ghostface twisted the knife before pulling the knife out. I screamed out in pain, my hand flying over my stab wound. The immense pain wasn't anything new, but that didn't make it hurt any less.
"Logan!" I heard Rory call out, "Holy shit!" Rory knelt down beside me and brushed the hair out of my face. "Are you okay? I mean you're not okay but you're alive."
I wanted to pull her down and kiss her, I didn't care who saw or that I was bleeding. I was hopelessly in love with this girl. Gale had a point, I shouldn't let Amber control my life anymore.
"Where's Gale?" Sam asked.
"In her apartment," I spoke.
The sisters bolted up the stairs, nearly tripping on their way up.
. . .
"I'm fine! I just wanna get out of here" I shouted at the doctor.
Rory squeezed my hand and brushed the top with her thumb, "He's only trying to help"
"I'm sorry,"
"It's alright, you're not the first patient to yell at me today" The doctor laughed. "And you won't be the last. I'll be back with your discharge papers"
"Today got me thinking. You remember how you said you would wait for me?" Rory nodded, already knowing where this was going, "You don't have to wait anymore"
"I don't know what you mean" She teased, "You have to say it"
"Rory Hayes, will you be my girlfriend?"
Rory leaned towards me, our lips just centimeters apart, "Of course"
Rory pressed her lips to mine. Her hand moved up to my cheek and she deepened the kiss. It was both passionate yet delicate. We both wanted to do so much more but the moment never quite seemed to be right.
Rory pulled away from the kiss and leaned her forehead against mine, brushing my cheek with her thumb. "I wanna be able to do that everyday"
I moved over on the hospital bed and patted the empty spot beside me. Rory climbed into the bed with me and pulled me closer to her. My head laid on her chest and her arms were loosely wrapped around my body.
"Let me take you out on a date, after this nightmare is over"
"What about Friday?" I asked. "Friday seems like a good day"
"It's a date, then."
