I have multiple reasons for shipping this besides the fact that it's cute! First of all: Sniper Boyfriends.
Second of all the concept behind it us really cute ♡.
Lance is all outgoing and talkative while Ryan is more introverted, stoic and a man of very few words.
And there's this whole cute idea that Lance is the only one who can get Ryan to open up. And that he's all stone cold around everyone BUT Lance.

Also their ship name is LYAN which sounds like lion so I don't need much more reason besides that.

This takes place after S8. I've seen fanart for kinkance post S8, it's kinda bitter sweet. I've seen one where Lance us still mourning over Allura but he and Ryan like each other. And Ryan's like "don't you think it's time you tried again" or something like that.
