I See You
Gauri stepped into the white walled building, her black kanchivaram saree drenched and slippers muddy, leaving behind trail of dirt on marbled floor.
"Miss sharma, Mr Shivay Singh Oberoi said you would be coming. A women in white coat and stethoscope around her neck said, amicably.
"W-where is he? She asked, her voice hardly audible and very weak.
"I'll take you to him right away. But before that would you like some dry towels? You are all drenched. The weather is unpredictable today, the lady doctor offered the service politely.
"N-no. Please just take me to him, Gauri stuttered.
"Sure thing Miss Sharma,
The doctor ushered Gauri into a long hallway, which was dreadfully silent.
"We have to give most of the patents sleeping pill at night other wise it becomes next to impossible to handle them, the doctor exclaimed as she walked briskly into the hallway, Gauri following her in her tail.
Does that mean they have to give him sleeping pills every nigh too?
Gauri's heart clenched.
"We don't give him any pills though. He is not like other patents, the doctor said, almost as is she read Gauri's thoughts.
The walk through the corridors felt endless. Moreover the spotless white walls were scaring her. The seems like a canvas of an artist who has lost his muse forever.
"Room no 174, that's his, the doctor said.
Gauri's stomach tied into tight knots and her heart beat rose frantically, making all sort of wary thoughts cloud her mind.
She walked to the door of room no 174, rose up to her toes and peeked through the glass.
And there he was.
Tears edged her eyes and she bit her lip hard to prevent the cry of agony from escaping her lips.
What had his jatadhaari hippie made of himself?
His hair were longer than usual and face almost cover with beard and eyes..the eyes she always adored, guarded by dark circle, seemed almost dead.
He was scribbling something on the walls with coloured chalks. Gauri clenched her eyes to push back the tears and clear her vision to see properly.
Her heart dropped to her stomach.
He has written her name, Gauri hundreds of time if not less, on every wall of the room.
Oh Om..
"He has been like this from past five year, almost no progress in his health. Apparently, this name is all that he remembers, the doctor said with a sigh.
Her Omkaraji forgot everything except her name..
She covered her face with her hands, trying to hide her tears and sobs.
"Why are you crying Gauri? Should you not be happy? And proud? She herd a familiar voice.
"Bade bhaiya? She muffled as she turned her head to Shivay Singh Oberoi who stood beside her in his perfectly tailored voice and rage in eyes.
Her eyes widen.
"W-what are you saying?
"The truth. Isn't this what you wanted? To make my brother suffer? Now look what you have done to him! He grabbed her hand and pushed her inside the room roughly.
"Look at him Gauri! Look what you made of him! So tell me, are you happy now? He berated loudly, pointing towards Om who was too busy scribbling her name.
"Please bade bhaiya..please.. She cried, not able to bear the mental pressure which was building up inside her.
"I always regarded you as my sister Gauri and loved you more her my own brother. But what did you do Gauri? Snatched him away from us all? Shivay said, his own eyes swollen and wet from tears.
"Bade bhaiya I swear I didn't do anything, she cried.
"Gauri I never though I would say this but I regret the day you came into my brother's life, Shivay said venomously before turning in his heels and taking off briskly through the corridors.
Gauri collapsed on the floor, her face pale and stared blankly at her name on walls, tears silently escaping her eyes.
