Like a wingless bird
I have fallen down
No more air beneath my wings
To lift me above the clouds

I walk now on two feet
Weighed down by this body
That came from dust
And will return back to the dirt
When my life has ended

I once was able to fly
But my wings were lost
I soared in the sky
Content beyond words

I long for the days
When I was able to fly
I never noticed what I had
Until it was lost

I try now every day
Looking up at the sky
To return to my home
Knowing that in order to rise again
My old self must die
