Chapter 2
I open my eyes when the sun streams through my window. Just like clockwork, I hear a soft knock on my door and my dresser, Loli, calls out from behind the door, "Princess? Are you awake?" I sit up and rub my eyes, "Yes, come in." I reply and the door opens. She's carrying a large folded stack of clothes for me to wear today and she lays them down on my table, her head turns toward the rose. "Oh! What a beautiful rose, Princess, where did you get it?" She asks and takes out my first pair of clothes. "Oh, last night, a boy gave it to me. I invited him over today around 3 in the afternoon." I say with a smile. "Is that so?" She smirks, "Well, Julia, I hope you have fun. But for now you need to do your lessons, change into this." She hands me my clothes for riding classes and I take some time to put them on, she helping me at times.
The list of classes I have to do in one day;
Riding Classes
Piano Classes
Singing Classes
Writing Classes
Communication Classes
Business Classes
And that's basically it. Yeah a lot of people would consider all these useless, but to me they're important for taking over the throne and a lot of them are just plain fun! Throughout my classes I feel busy and motivated to do more until sunset or later, time passes a lot faster when you're distracted.
It feels like an hour only passes when it turns 2 pm and my butler walks out to inform me that it's time to get ready. I walk into my room with Loli and she hands me a nice, comfortable dress that stops right above my knees. It's mostly all white but it has pink trimming and lace on the top. The sleeves stop at my elbows in pink with white trimmings. Loli also hands me some short white socks with a wavy design and a pair of black flats.
"Thank you, Loli." I say. She smiles, "It's no problem, Princess." I smile back at her and she walks out to call my hair stylist, Jenny. My hair stylist walks in a few minutes later with her usual bag of supplies and a bright smile on her face. My makeup artist, Ferrah, is here as well. "Hello ladies!" I chirp happily. "Hello, Julia!" They chirp back. "My, my, you look like a stunning young woman. It's almost hard to believe you're almost getting married!" Ferrah laughs. "Oh, tell me about it! It feels like just yesterday you were just learning how to dance!" Jenny says. I laugh, "You guys really are silly, you know. I'm not taking the throne just yet, which means I don't have to get married yet!"
Ferrah finishes my makeup and I can barely tell I have any on, except for the lip gloss, and Jenny does an amazing job, as usual. "Thank you, guys." I smile. "No need for thanks, we could do this forever." Jenny says and Ferrah nods in agreement before they both leave the room. "Okay..." I breath out, "It's about 2:52 now, I should be near the gate or the front doors at the least." I get up and walk quickly toward the front doors where I'm met by Ace.
"Hello, Princess. Would you like to wait near the gate?" He asks. "Yes." I say. "Okay, I'll escort you." He says and we both walk out standing near the gate for Kai to arrive. About 30 minutes later, he arrives. I smile brightly and the gates are opened when he nears it. "Hello, Princess." He smiles and I feel like melting. "Hello, Kai." I greet and walk beside him through the front doors and into the garden.
We sit on the swinging bench in the middle of the huge garden. "So, Kai, tell me more about you." I say once he is fully seated. "Well..." He begins, "I live with my father most of the time, my mother works very hard to keep our house that she's rarely around." I nod and continue to listen. "I lost my little brother last year to cancer. It just got too bad and we couldn't afford to keep him alive, to me it's like we didn't want to force him to suffer any longer so we just let him sleep in peace."
"I'm so sorry that happened to you. I know it's hard losing a family member..." I say with my head down, "My father was killed by bandits when he was traveling. Ever since then my mother hasn't been the same. She's been... Quiet. I don't know if she's ok or not, I can't really tell."
"Yeah, it is really hard but things got better just when I thought they wouldn't. Just recently I met a beautiful young woman who just so happens to be the Queens daughter." He tilts his head towards me and smiles. I blush, "Haha. Thanks."
We continue to talk for an hour or so until Ace hurries out. "Princess Julia!" He calls out with a panicked voice. "Y-Yes?" I ask hesitantly and stand up. "You must come with me, quickly! Your mother she... She collapsed!" He says quickly. I gasp and run into the castle, Kai follows, I run up to my mother and watch as all the maids and butlers run around looking for medical supplies. "Should... Should we take her to the hospital...?" I ask with a weak voice. "No, we have a doctor on the way, taking her to the hospital would take too long anyway." Ace replies. "Okay..." I shakily breath out.
The doctor arrives sooner than expected. He puts mother on a table and checks her ribs to see if any are broken. After what seems like an eternity he walks up to all of us and shakes his head. I feel my heart break into one million pieces and tears fall from my eyes like tiny waterfalls. I feel everyone comfort me but the first one to wrap their arms around me was Kai. "My deepest condolences." He says with a sorrowful voice. I'm crying much too hard to answer, I'll have to thank him later.
