Nintendo made a fuck ton of money with its new mobile game (also with help from Niantic) Pokémon Go. Which of course, means new people are drawing nearer to the fan base. This bothers me.. Let me explain.

So I've got nothing against Pokémon. To be honest, I'm a big slut for Pokémon. However, the majority of these new fans aren't. An example of me talking to a fake fan.

Me: So you like Pokémon?
Fake fan: lol yea, I'm a big fan
Me: Well, what's your favorite one?
Fake fan: Charizard (or Pikachu.)
Me: Oh really? Well for me if have to go with Rattata. It's for a reason though. So when I was playing soul silve-
Fake fan: Rattata sucks.
Me: Well I mean in battle, yeah. But I was in this Zubat cave, and I ran out of repels. So as I was walking to the exit, I found this shin-
Fake fan: But why Rattata?
Me: Well it was my first shiny I caught in the wild.
Fake fan: lol what is a shiny?

Pretty much. I'm completely okay with new people coming to the games. But when people are calling themselves fans, when they've never even played the games. Or maybe not even the show! On the bright side, my fandom is relevant now..?
