Mitsuki's POV 

*Back to where he got transferred in the Academy, Chapter 1*

"Are you ready?" Y/n's mother asked me and I nodded.

"I will protect your daughter no matter what." I answered and she gave me a smile.

"Now remember, my ex husband has lots of spies roaming around. We don't know who's an ally or not but never ever trust anyone." She instructed and I nodded again. "Let's just hope the Boogieman won't be around."

The Boogieman, Y/n's father's right hand. One of the most skilled Mafia that also have Assassin skills. I've been trying to hunt him down all these years but he always get away.

He found out about Y/n and is now going after her. I needed to get close to Y/n to be able to protect her so her mother got me in the Academy.

Today was the day I will join the Academy and I was excited to see Y/n. I've only been able to watch her from a distant to see who's trying to kill her but now I will be able to talk to her.

The reason why I can't approach her before was because someone was tailing me and I have to make sure to eliminate that person before I can get close to Y/n.

"Master Mitsuki!" I stopped on my track as I saw John, Y/n's little brother, running towards me.

He knows about us, the Akatsuki and that's because he knows how their father killed his own mother as well. He ran away from home that time and almost got hit by a truck but I saved him.

I then took him here in our base and Y/n's mother treated him like his own child. John then made a promise to keep an eye on his big sister.

"John, what are you doing here? Don't you have school?" I asked him and he grinned.

"We're on break right now and I figured that I will pay mother a visit." He answered and I pat his head.

"Your mother's in her office." I told him and he nodded.

"Thank you Master Mitsuki, I hope you get married to my big sister soon!" He exclaimed as he run and I felt my face heating up.

Cheeky...

"You're off to the Academy?" Becky was waiting outside for me and I nodded. "Be careful Master, we don't know who's the enemy. It could be anyone, waiting to strike."

"I know, this is what I've been training for." I told her and she nodded as she got on the driver's seat.

We soon made it to the Academy and I went straight to the Principal's office.

"Ah Mitsuki right?" Hiruzen, the Principal gave me a smile and I nodded. "Pleasure to meet you, here is your class. I'll get someone to take you there." 

I took the paper and gave him a smile.

"It's okay, I've been here before so I know where it is." I left before he can say another word and went to my classroom.

"Alright class, I'm sorry for being late today but I want to introduce you with the new student. He got transferred here just today and I'm expecting you all to be nice to him." The teacher, Shino said and I entered the room.

I scanned the people until I found who I was looking for, Y/n L/n.

"Please introduce yourself to everyone." Shino instructed and I nodded.

"Hello, my name is Mitsuki. I hope we can all get along well." I bowed to show respect and when I looked at Y/n again, she lifted the book to cover her face.

"Alright, you can take a seat next to Inojin." Shino stated. "Inojin raise your hand." 

I knew who Inojin was, the Spy of Akatsuki. A very talented Sniper but he's not good when it comes to one-on-one combat. He raised his hand while giving me a smile and I made my way towards him.

He already know what to do before I came, make sure the seat beside Y/n was empty so I will be assigned there. I also made eye contacts with the other member of the Akatsuki.

Some of them were confuse of why I'm here because there's only one meaning of me being here. 

Y/n is in danger

As I was walking to my seat, I smiled at Y/n and she quickly looked away while blushing. She may not remember me but I know her feelings haven't changed yet.

Not long after, Shino started pairing the class. I was a bit disappointed though when Y/n was partnered up with Kiba but I couldn't really do anything about it.

I saw Kiba winking at Y/n and if the Boogie man was in the room, the next target will be Kiba. 

I have to catch him before he can kill Kiba!

Iwabe was my partner and we decided to start the project tomorrow. Home time came and I have to follow Kiba to see if someone was tailing him.

So far, I didn't see anyone suspicious. The two of them went to their home and I knew that Y/n's father might do something to Kiba. Although I can't go inside because I'm sure I'll get discovered before I can even make it to the door.

After a few hours, I saw Kiba exiting the house. I sigh in relief to see him still alive but assumed that it was because of Y/n. Her father won't do anything when she's around but I bet the Boogie man will.

In order to ensure Kiba's safety, I followed him all the way to the Ramen shop. There I saw a guy with a white mask following him and I prepared myself to attack him. Although before I can go to him, I heard a sound coming from behind me.

I barely dodged my attacker as he tried stabbing me with a knife. The person was also wearing a white mask and he didn't hesitate to attack me again.

This time, I caught his hand and quickly knocked him out. Becky came out of her hiding place and took the guy to interrogate later.

"We got him, go to Kiba now!" Becky stated and I nodded.

When I look to where Kiba were, I saw his attacker covering his mouth while injecting him something. He then let go of Kiba as he fell lifeless down the ground.

I didn't think twice that his attacker was the Boogie man and before he can see me, I immediately left. I clenched my hand into a fist as I did not manage to save Kiba. 

Damn it...

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I bumped into someone. I notice that it was Y/n and she was about to fall but I caught her. My heart skipped a beat, knowing that I was really close to her.

"Are you alright?" I questioned as I composed myself so I won't stutter.

"I-I'm alright!" Her face turned red and she tripped on her own feet.

I caught her again and remembered the past where she always tripped over her own feet because she was clumsy.

"Be careful now, I don't want you getting hurt." I said while helping her up.

"T-thanks..." She looked away as her face turned red even more.

I then remembered the Boogie man, if he saw Y/n with me then we will be both in trouble so I started walking away as we were having conversation.

"Your welcome, what are you doing here anyway?" I questioned and she widen her eyes as if she remembered something.

"Oh yeah, h-have you seen Kiba? He left his notebook in my house so I ran after him to return it to him." She replied and I remembered what happened to Kiba.

I didn't realised how long I've been staring to Y/n as my mind replayed the scene but I tried replying in my normal voice.

"No I didn't." I did not expect my voice to change as I still think of the incident. "You should go back, it's not safe running around in the night you know."

"Well, says you. Why were you here anyway in the first place?" She suddenly asked and I tried thinking of an excuse.

"I just finished doing my report with Iwabe so now I'm heading home." I answered and she nodded.

"Alright, I'll be going now." She turned around but I grabbed her wrist.

"Let me walk you back home. Who knows if someone will just attack you out of nowhere right?" I can hear my voice becoming nervous as more time passes by but she didn't notice.

"O-okay!" It was a good thing that she didn't ask another question.

If she did, then I might not been able to hide the fear in my voice. 

"Thank you for walking me home Mitsuki, I'll see you tomorrow." She waved at me and I nodded while giving her a smile.

"No problem, I'll see you tomorrow as well." Her face flushed before she closed the door.

I then sigh while looking down the ground. I failed to protect one of her friend, would I be able to protect her as well?

After I reported what happened today to Y/n's mother, I went to my room and laid on my bed. My thoughts returned to Kiba and not long after, I drifted to sleep.

I went to school earlier than everyone to see if someone will act suspicious today but found no one. Although I could sense someone watching me but I acted like I didn't know.

I then went to the garden to see if the person will follow me but he disappeared. He might have thought I'm one of the normal student which was a good thing.

Not long after, I saw Y/n entering the garden as I was about to head out. It was as if she was looking for someone so I decided to climbed up the tree that she was leaning on.

"Where could he be?" I heard her asking.

"Looking for someone?" I spoke and she looked up.

I gave her a smile and seeing her face flushed made my heart skipped a beat.

Only if she can remember...

"What are you doing up there?" She asked and I jumped down.

"I could ask you the same thing." I walked closer to her until her back is against the tree.

"I... was looking for Kiba to return his notebook." And again, I remembered what happened to Kiba and blamed myself for not being able to save him. "How about you?"

"I was looking for you. Actually I've been watching you search for... Kiba this whole time." I told the truth and shock was written all over her face.

"So were you the one who's been following me all this time?" She questioned and this proves my intuition.

Someone was watching her...

...but who?

Why couldn't I pinpoint his location?

"I've only started following you when you arrive in the Academy." I answered and her face showed that whoever was following her, she already felt it before coming to the Academy.

She was about to say something but was cut off when the bell rung. We both made our way to our class and not long after, Rock Lee joined us.

Rock Lee is also a member of the Akatsuki and his mission today was to lure the Boogie man out. We both know that he's been watching Y/n from a distant and Lee volunteered to be a bait.

"Hey there Y/n! How was your day today?" Lee questioned while giving me a slight nod without Y/n noticing.

Lee then put his arm around Y/n and I felt a pang in my heart but reminded myself that this was his mission. 

At that exact moment, I felt someone's blood-lust and when I looked back, I saw a glimpse of a shadow. Lee also saw this and he secretly glanced at me.

"It's alright I guess." Y/n replied while removing Lee's hands.

The mission today was to lure Boogie man out by making him jealous and Lee happily took the job. He knows that the Boogie man is getting suspicious about my arrival so he's going to steal the spotlight away from me.

It was all part of the plan and Lee was willing to sacrifice his life if the Boogie man tried going after him. Yes he is skilled on close combat but against the Boogie man, he's no match for him.

"Now now, let's stay like this for a while." Lee grinned as he found out his plan was working.

Although I couldn't let him be Boogie man's next target so I pinned him on the wall.

"Can't you see that she was trying to remove your hand yet you resist to?" I acted angry then leaned towards him in a whisper. "Stop doing this, you'll get in trouble if you continue this."

"H-hey! W-what's the big deal?" He acted as he pretended to escape from my grasp. "I-I'm sorry okay!"

"Don't you ever touch my girlfriend ever again!" I shouted so the Boogie man can hear it.

"What are you doing, you'll get yourself in trouble." Lee loudly whisper, enough for me to hear and I released him while giving him the sign of I'll be fine.

I then took Y/n's hand and started walking away. If I want the Boogie man to target someone, it has to be me. I'm the only one who would be able to take him down and I don't want to see another person dying.

"H-hey, since when did we become girlfriend and boyfriend?" Y/n suddenly asked and I remembered the day we pledge to each other that we will start dating at this age.

"Since now." I replied but then she pulled away her hand and her face showed annoyance.

"I am not your girlfriend Mitsuki and don't you ever dare treat my friends like that!" She walked past me and helped Lee. "Sorry about that."

I watched as they left, Lee took the advantage on getting Boogie man's attention and I clenched my hand. I looked around to look for my enemy, but there was so many student who could be the enemy right now.

After searching, I decided to go to the classroom. Y/n ignored me and I felt pain in my heart. I don't like her getting angry at me so I sigh.

I apologised to Lee so she would forgive me and Lee gave me a reassuring look, knowing that he's the next target of Boogie man.

"I-it's alright, I'm sorry for touching your... girlfriend." He said and I looked at his hand.

He did a sign saying I will surely defeat him!

"He is not my boyfriend yet Lee." Y/n suddenly said and one word kept repeating in my head.

I'm not her boyfriend yet so I still have a chance

Y/n read a book called 'I own you' and her mother told me about this. The Boogie man has lots of underlings so they would escalate what's about to happen before it happens then write it on the book and swap it without Y/n noticing it.

I saw her eyes widening as she read what was on the book and I knew that it was about Kiba. Not long after, Shino entered the room and he had this sad look.

"Alright class, I have bad news. Last night, Kiba Inuzuka was found dead in front of the Ramen shop." I was right, the news was about him.

I saw Lee glancing at me and I avoided eye contact because I was assigned to protect Kiba but I failed. A deadly poison was inject to him and there's nothing I could do to save him.

Judging by the guy who just attacked me, one of Boogie man's underling, it only means that there are others who are near the Boogie man and I can't expose myself from getting discovered.

We're not sure how many our enemies are so we will have to take extra precautions in order to keep Y/n safe. As I was thinking about Kiba's death, I didn't notice Lee exiting the room.

Where is he going?

I then remembered the message he gave me earlier. I will surely defeat him!

That guy... why won't he listen to me! He don't stand a chance against the Boogie man!

I saw tears falling from Lee's eyes and I knew that he was ready to die at that moment. I raised my hand to go to the toilet so I can follow him.

Wait for me Lee...

I was relief when I saw Lee still alive in the bathroom as he went out of his cubicle.

"What are you doing?" I asked him and he gave me a questioning look.

"Peeing?" He replied and I sigh. "What else would I be doing in the bathroom?"

"Nothing." I walked towards the sink and started washing my hand.

"I'll get going then." He said and I nodded.

A student came in and started peeing on the thing *Idk what it's called but the white thingy* and seconds later, Y/n barged in the door.

"Y/n?" I questioned and her face blushed.

She immediately closed the door and I tried thinking why she would come after us.

The story!

I then turned around and went to where Lee came out. I then found a note down the ground and quickly picked it up.

I'm the Boogie man, I accept your challenge. I'll be waiting at the hallway

I quickly made my way to the hallway and heard Y/n screaming. This made me speed up and when I got there, Lee's head was smashed to the wall with a word written 'You're only mine'

Y/n started crying as she continue watching her dead friend so I covered her eyes.

"Don't try to look if your just going to cry over him again. Don't worry, I'm here for you." I told her with a soft voice.

I hated seeing her cry, it hurts me even more than seeing her with another guy. The two of us went to the Principal's office and I sat there listening to what the Principal was saying.

Hiruzen was investigating about Kiba's death and Y/n mentioned seeing me in the same street causing Hiruzen to ask me what I was doing that night. 

The way Boogie man killed Kiba was very clean. He didn't leave any evidence behind and the poison wouldn't had been detected by the police as it was injected to him

I didn't realised that I was glaring at the Principal as I was blaming myself for Kiba's death. I then saw a white mask person outside, pointing a sniper on Hiruzen.

"Can we not talk this in private Principal Hiruzen?" I asked in a deadly tone so he would start suspecting me and move away from his spot.

"Why would you want to talk in private?" Hiruzen asked me and I gave him a half smile.

"It's because I don't want Y/n to see what's going to happen next. Besides, she's still trying to recover from what she just saw right? We don't want to add another pain in her heart do we?" It was fortunate because Y/n wasn't really paying attention to our conversation.

I looked outside again and I was panicking on the inside. Keeping Y/n here is dangerous for her so she need to leave soon.

"Alright, Y/n you can now go home if you want." Hiruzen finally said and when she left, I smirked knowing that she was safe.

"Shino, you need to leave too. You don't want to get involved in this." I warned Shino and Hiruzen gave him a sign to leave.

Soon it was only me and the Principal. I glanced outside the window and the person wasn't there anymore. 

"So what's going on child? Did you kill Kiba?" Hiruzen asked me and I talked in a low voice.

"Your life is in danger Principal, you're like a second father to Y/n right? You need to get out of here now." I warned him and he gave me a look as if I was joking. "I will call the police now." 

"Hold on child, what are you talking about? If you're trying to prank me then it's not a good one." Hiruzen stated as he took the phone away from me. "And if you want to call someone, it should be Mister L/n. He's the best police in town and I could get him to tell you your prank is not good."

"No!" I tried stopping him but he already pressed the call button. 

"Hello?" He asked through the phone. "Oh hi Mister L/n, I came to report that my life is in danger. I just want you to reassure my student that it's not true."

"Right, Y/n was your daughter right? Actually she was here before but my student Mitsuki, told me to send her away claiming that my life is in danger. Yeah, kids these days are very creative." He continued talking in the phone.

I didn't know what to do, Hiruzen was talking to the enemy and he even revealed my name. 

"What do you mean order your men to kill me? You're joking right?" As soon as Hiruzen said this, a bullet struck him on the shoulder and he dropped the phone.

I looked outside and saw the sniper on another spot. He tried shooting me but I dodged it.

"Principal Hiruzen!" I went beside Hiruzen and tried helping him up. 

Another shot broke his coffee glass and when we made it to the door, a guy with a mask appeared and stabbed Hiruzen at the chest. 

The guy then ran away and I was about to chase him but Hiruzen held my hand.

"H-h-h-help me..." He said as he held the knife on his chest but it was too late.

I couldn't save him... again...

I then heard a voice from the phone and held it in my ear.

"Stay out of this Y/n, don't get involve." I warned her and looked to see if the sniper was still there but he was gone.

"M-Mitsuki... what have you do-" I ended the call and immediately went to her house. 

Even though the security inside the house would have seen me, I have to do this to Y/n.

"M-" She was about to call my name as she opened the door but I injected her.

An injection that can make her forget what happened inside thirty minutes temporarily. With this, she would have forget about the phone call and the Principal dying.

"Don't get involve in this Y/n, the less you know the better."

"B-but... why?" She asked as she slowly closed her eyes. 

I placed her back on her bed and placed a strand of hair behind her ear.

"I'm sorry..." I whispered while taking her hand and kissing it. "I hope you understand one day, everything I'm doing right now is to protect you."

I stood up while placing a kiss on her forehead then went out of her window. If I stayed longer, her father would have caught me. I reported everything to Y/n's mother and she ordered to increase the guards around Y/n.

"It's okay Mitsuki, I apologise for not sending you back ups. Next time we'll be more careful." Y/n's mother said and I nodded.

The next day, Chou Chou asked me to go to the festival. I agreed because Y/n will be there and there will be lots of people. This time, there were other Akatsuki who dressed themselves as normal people.

To make sure that my identity wasn't revealed, Inojin caught the sniper from yesterday. So all they have was my name but not my appearance. 

I was to interrogate the sniper today but she killed herself. Even the first person we caught killed himself, leaving us empty handed.

"Hey guys, I'm sorry I'm late." I told everyone and I saw Y/n turning around.

"Mitsuki! Finally, we've been waiting for ages. Now that everyone is complete, we could all wear this!" Boruto placed a dog ear at my head and showed me a green jumpsuit.

The dog headband was to remember Kiba while the green suit was for Rock Lee. Of course I didn't agree with the green suit so only Metal wore them because Lee was his older brother.

Metal knew the sacrifice that his big brother made and he was proud of him. Although he made a promise that he won't get involve with the Akatsuki anymore because that was Lee's last wish for him.

I saw Inojin comforting Y/n and I smiled, knowing she's safe around him. Shikadai then joined him and Sumire as they headed for the ferries wheel.

"I see, then I'll talk to you later Y/n." I gave Y/n a smile and I found it cute how she blushes.

Inojin's job right now is to find out whether Shikadai or Sumire is an enemy or not. He already told me that he has suspicions towards Shikadai but have no evidence so he's been gathering information about him.
