Concussion

Steve's POV

I slowly paced through the corridors and to the elevator. I was quiet not to be heard but I honestly didn't bother that much. Barley anyone was awake anyway. Well except for me, and maybe Natasha. She's not the only one with bad dreams. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised that everyone in this building is asleep.
I stopped outside Natasha's door and hesitated before I knocked. Maybe she's sleeping after all and I wake her up. It's 4am. My thoughts couldn't stop my action and two quiet knocks landed on the door. It opened and Natasha stood behind it. To my surprise, she wore a pyjamas and fuzzy socks. Something I actually didn't expect to see her wear. She looked adorable.
"Steve?" She said surprised and I nodded.
"Couldn't sleep. Figured you'd might be awake." I said and she looked at me curiously before she looked around outside of the door. She grabbed my shirt and dragged me inside. As fast as the door was closed, she gave me a quick kiss on the lips. She smirked as she went to the couch where she apparently had been seated before I knocked.
"Bad dream you too huh?" She said and I smiled.
"How'd you know?" I asked a little surprised by the kiss and she smiled.
"There are not many reasons why someone's awake after 4pm." She said with a smirk. I looked around her apartment and she observed me.
"I've never been in here have I?" I asked and she shock her head.
"The only one that had stepped a foot in here, well except for myself, was Clint." She said and I laughed.
"Surprising." I said and she smiled.
"It's cozy, and you look adorable in that pyjamas of yours." I said with a smile as I sat down on the sofa next to her.
"Don't pretend like you don't own one yourself Mr. Cloudypants. I didn't really expect company." She said with a big smirk and I though back at my blue pyjamas pants with white clouds on them laying on my bed.
"So why are you up?" I asked and her big smirk became a little smaller.
"Question is, when are you going to sleep." She said.
"You haven't even gone to bed?" I asked and she shock her head. "Why?" I asked and she raised her shoulders.
"There's five reasons why someone can't sleep. It's either because they have bad dreams, are lonely, sad, in love or drunk." She said and I looked at her confused.
"And which one of them describes your situation?" I asked and she raised her head a little and thought for a few seconds.
"All of them." She said and I breathed out heavily.
"It's not a good mix." I said and she chuckled.
"Believe me, I've noticed." She said as she looked out of the window and up at the stars.
"I can't do anything about the bad dreams part, but I can make sure you're not alone." I said and she looked at me with a small smile.
"I'd be happy to offer the same to you. Honestly, it seems like you need it more." She said and I felt hit in the heart. Unusual. No ones ever thought about me having it more difficult then I show. Not even myself. She looked at my surprised face and smiled a little.
"I know a broken person when I see one." She said.
"Broken?" I asked and she nodded.
"But it's okey. Most of us are." She said and I nodded this time. It made since.
We were quiet for a while. Natasha looked out on the beautiful stars.
I looked at her.
"Stop staring. Didn't your mother ever teach you that it's impolite?" She asked and I chuckled.
"No."
"Mine either." She said with a small smile.
"It's just hard not to stare when you're so beautiful." I said and she looked at me.
"What do you mean beautiful?" She asked and I smiled.
"You know, the way your hair falls in your face and you carefully wipe it away. And how your eyes become bigger when you see something you love. And the way your feelings shine through that expressionless mask you sometimes have on. And the way you raise your left eyebrow as you hear or say something funny. And the way the moonlight usually hits your face making you look like one of the stars up there but even more beautiful because you're different. Special. And also the way.."
"Stop." She said and I looked at her.
"And how you love everything so hard and so much but do everything to hide it from others, and the way.." She stopped me again.
"Steve. Stop it."
"But I.."
"Just stop." She said as she moved closer to me and carefully put her lips onto mine. She stopped kissing me and my lips were left alone but our faces were still close. She looked me into the eyes and put her hand on my cheek.
"You have to stop. You're making me go soft." She said and I chuckled a bit.
"You're a softie already." I said and she shock her head.
"Say that again and I'll rip your heart out." She said and I smiled to her serious face.
"You already have." I said and her serious face broke out in a smile she deeply tried to hide.
"I don't like you anymore." She said and I nodded.
"It's okey. I don't like you either." I said with a smile. She kissed me again and I felt her hand around my neck.
I don't like her either.
I love her.

Natasha's POV

My ears ringed as the bomb exploded and at least ten windows broke. As soon as my feet got steady on the ground again, I rushed into the building with Steve right behind me.
"Take them all out of here!" He screamed and we ran separate ways. I turned my head to look at him and was greeted by his face looking at mine. Our eyes met. I turned my head and kept running.
The bomb had exploded in a bank. Someone had robbed it and planted a bomb next to the entrance. A lot of people are stuck in the building and our mission is to get them out. I made it into the main hall and a lot of the buildings walls had fallen on benches and all possible furnitures inside. A woman sat by a wall with her head deep buried in her hands. Beside her was a man, that laid on the floor, dead.
I ran up to them and checked the mans pulse. As I predicted, it was for nothing. Shot in the chest. The woman looked up at me with fear in her eyes and tears on her cheeks.
"Don't be scared. I'm here to get you out. It's not safe in here." I said to the woman with a soft voice.
"I can't leave him." She cried and I rolled my eyes in my mind.
"If he were alive, he would have wanted you to go to safety. Trust me." I said as I stretched out my hand for her to take it. She hesitated but took my hand as she looked back at the man on the floor.
"I love you." She whispered to the dead body before she turned away and faced me.
"See that door over there? It's the only safe way out. You have to go fast!" I said stressed as I saw some other people at the other end of the room.
"Are you the black widow?" The woman asked and I nodded annoyed.
"Yes, but please, run. Now." I said and she nodded.
"Thank you. May God bless you." She said as she began running towards the door.
"I don't believe in God." I said as I ran across the room towards two men stuck under a fallen stone wall. But before I reached the scene, Steve was there and helped them up. Their legs bleed and I helped one to walk while Steve helped the other one.
"Anyone more?" I asked Steve and he shock his head.
"No. It's empty." He said and I nodded as she hurried out the soon to be crashed building.
While outside a man came running towards us.
"Hurry! The building will explode in about 2 minutes." The man said and Steve helped me with the man. Suddenly, I heard a scream.
"Steve! Did you hear that?" I asked and he shocked his head.
"No, what?" He asked as he was focused on helping the man who's leg was almost cut of.
I listened again and a tiny scream was heard from the inside of the building.
"Someone's left." I said before my legs moved as fast as possible into the building. I could hear Steve scream after me but he didn't come running. I looked back quickly and a few men held him down as good as they could.
I went inside between all the rubbish and stones and looked around.
"Is someone in here?" I screamed desperately and the same scream could be heard. I ran towards it and found what I was expecting. Next to a dead woman and man, was a child. Maybe around one and a half years old. She held her hand on her mummy's cheek and my stomach twisted. I quickly checked the parents pulse. Nothing. Two minutes goes fast. I had to hurry. I grabbed the screaming child.
"You're going to be okey." I whispered softly as I ran with the child in my hands towards the way out. When I got out I ran down the stairs from the building and my eyes met Steve's. He breathed out in relief but I saw the terror and fear in his eyes. I breathed fast and held the child close to my chest. The bomb of the building went of and I had to jump forwards down the stairs as the whole building collapsed. I jumped with my back turned forward and held my both arms around the child. I landed hard on my back below the stairs and my head went dizzy. I looked at the child in my arms. She was fine.
"You'll be fine." I whispered before my head took a twist and I fell to sleep.

"Natasha?" A voice said and I slowly fluttered my eyes open. A bright light found its way to my eyes and I tried to adjust to it. When I did, I saw a face staring at me. Steve's. He held my hand and I licked my dry lips.
"Damn." I said as I could feel a major headache. I took the one hand no ones wasn't holding and pressed it on my forehead.
"Concussion." He said and I nodded.
"Not the first time." I said and he squeezed my hand hard.
"You shouldn't have done that." He said rather upset.
"Like you would have done something differently if you were in my position." I said and he shock his head.
"You could have died, Natasha." He said and I nodded.
"I know. I took that risk." I said and he looked down at my hand. His posture which was usually extremely perfect sunk together and he took a deep breath.
"You could have died." He said and I squeezed his hand to get him to look at me.
"Steve. What are you doing?" I asked and he looked at me confused. "I almost die everyday. This isn't more serious than any of the other times." I said and he shock his head.
"Don't you hear what you're saying? That's not normal Natasha! No one risks there life everyday." He said and I shock my head slightly.
"I guess not all people have that much left to live for." I said and he looked hurt.
"But you do." He said and looked into my eyes.
"What?" I asked and he smiled in a sad way.
"Thor, Wanda, Tony, Pepper, Bruce, Fury, Clint, Laura, Cooper and Lila." He said and took a pause. "And me." He said with a sad voice and I felt a crack in my little cold heart. I shock my head.
"It's easier to die for them." I said and Steve nodded.
"Living is hard." He said. "But that doesn't mean you don't do it."
"I've never had a life." I said and he looked at me with sad eyes.
"Then let's get you one." He said with half a smile. "And let me be in it."
