Return, On My Own Premises
"Charizard! I chose you!". A blue flash of light, and the fire-flying type Pokemon arrives out of it's Pokeball. It let's out a powerful roar, letting everyone present on MT Silver know that the king is here. He smiles lightly at his trusty partner, he was the one who brought Red his victory in the battle for the championship with Blue. Despite fighting with a type disadvantage, he still managed to get a win that Professor Oak described as "The best fight that Kanto has seen in a century".
"Charizard. I know this might shock you" he begins, Charizard grunts and tilts it's head. "We're going back". Charizard's eyes look like they're about to pop out. He chuckles lightly. "I know it sounds odd, but" he looks up, a certain determination being present in his heart. "Arceus has revealed that there is something to look for. Therefore, we're going back".
Charizard grunts again, looking a bit concearned in a angry way. "I know, I said I couldn't ever go back because of..the incident. But that's in the past! There's a new path for me to follow". Charizard reacts with crossing it's arms, slowly shaking it's head. Red tightens his fist, he doesn't like saying this, but he knows he must get home on him one way or another. "If we find Blue, we might be able to battle him, have a rematch, against his Blastoise".
This seems to awaken Charizard's enthusiasm. The fire on it's tail grows. "Always, he loves to battle" he thinks to himself, as his partner motions for him to sit on his back. "Surely, I must find Blue and give Charizard that rematch. If not, he is gonna be mad".
The wind is cold, but Charizard's heat keeps him from freezing, as they soar over the landscape of MT Silver. In his pockets, there lies five other pokeballs, with his five other trusty partners. "If I get to use them all, i'll pay Slowpoke a prayer" he thinks to himself. Charizard's wings flap, as they continue soaring over landscape of Johto. He takes in ice cold breaths from the air, realising how used to cold he really is. "Maybe ice found it's way into my heart" he thinks jokingly to himself, whenever he was on his journey, people would comment they would remember him because of one thing, his eyes.
He doesn't know where he got them from, his mother doesn't have red eyes, and he knows nothing of his father. "Absent, like everyone was when I was in pain..". He is still feeling wounded for everything that went down, his hallucinations of Misty, his never ending nightmares of that fateful day, but also the feeling of uncontrolable rage, once he sees the face of Blue, his rival.
"I swear, if he so much as dares mention that he is proud of making me disappear, i'll strangle him". Over the years of his stay on MT Silver, he has aquired deeper hatred for, life. He sees few enjoyable things in it now, as all that he liked was taken from him, or lost their positive meaning, due to their association with what caused him to flee Kanto in the first place.
Charizard lands with a large thud, roaring loudly into the air. He steps off, blinks, and looks around. There is none here. "Perfect". He blinks again. Swiftly, he turns around. He heard rustling in the trees around him. His eyes scan through the trees, he knows something, or someone, is there.
He tightens his fist, he wants to clear the forest, but he knows, he needs to keep his rage calm until an eventual battle. "I know you're there" he says, raising his voice. If it is someone, they must have heard him. "Show yourselves, or i'll torch the entire forest with you inside of it!".
"No need to burn down an entire forest, just to find out it was me there all the time, champ". From the shadows of the trees, appears a man wearing a navy blue tunic with red-orange trim, a brown belt around his waist, and large black boots with orange two rings around the top of each boot. Red's mood doesn't improve, but he feels slightly relieved to know who it was.
"Not knowing who is there, and taking a chance can lead to a bad result, Lance". Lance dusts off a Caterpie that sat on his shoulder, walking towards him. Red knows Lance, but only barely. All he knows is that he was champion, right until Blue defeated him, who was beaten by Red. Therefore, they didn't get to have a proper battle. Lance didn't like that, neither did Red, they looked forward to battling each other, only for the opportunity to slip past them.
"Surely, but why take no chances in a land, of friends?". Now they're eye to eye, Red looks at him with a not so interested look. "For all I know, the ''friends'', as you call them, may turn to be foes all along" he says coldly. Lance crosses his arms. "Ten years must have done a number on you boy, I don't remember this Red from when I was champion, waiting for him to battle me". Red's eyebrows go down, sligthly annoyed. "I changed, as you may see. Ten years, of suffering, for a broken heart".
"Hmm, I see. You've definitely had time to make up your mind". Lance scratches himself on his chin, pondering on something. "Of course, what else would I be doing on a Arceus forsaken mountain, for ten long torturous years?". He feels a hot breath gush over his neck, it's Charizard, and he doesn't seem to like where the conversation is going.
"Whatever the case, did you come back just to burn down my forest? Or, for something else". Red hesitates, should he reveal to Lance that Arceus appeared before him, and told him there was some new path? "Lance has seen much..but I have my doubts he would believe this" he thinks to himself. He can make up an excuse, of wanting to battle someone, but that would also force him to begin battling challengers to his championship.
"I came back, for reasons..I want to keep secret, for the time being" he says. "In that case, i'm glad to see that you're back. But, there is always those who, want to challenge you".
"I know that very well, there wasn't just heartbreak I disappeared from" he thinks to himself, as he turns away from Lance. Enlarging a pokeball, he returns Charizard to it's resting place. He sighs and looks up, he has longed to get back here, but even now, he has regrets about coming back. The air, is fresh. And it too, reminds him, of that fateful day..
"I may have returned, Lance. But, I return, on my own premises" he thinks to himself, as he looks towards the Indigo League.
