Chapter 19- The Human (Part 2)
I sat in the front room, looking out the window. It'd been about ten minutes since Grillby and the kids had told me about the human. Everything was quiet and calm, no monsters were outside. After a while, I got up and began to pace. I sighed quietly and stopped in front of the door.
"Don't worry so much." Grillby said, resting his head on my shoulder. "Everything will be fine." I sighed again and leaned against him.
"I know. But I still worry. It's just what I do." We stood there for a while, just staying silent.
Suddenly, the door flew upward automatically. A small human stood in the doorway. He was holding a stick and wearing an apron. He wore a red and orange striped sweater under the apron.
"Hello." I said, stepping away from Grillby. I decided to try and be polite to the human. "What's your name?"
"Ben." The human said, holding a hand out. I took it and shook it once.
"I'm Gaster and that's Grillby." I replied, point to my boyfriend behind me. He waved and Ben smiled ever so slightly. "Would you like to come in?" I asked and he nodded.
I lead Ben through the house into the kitchen. He seemed interested in all of the scientific stuff I had set up, but didn't ask about any of it.
"Want something to eat?" I asked, turning back to him. He nodded, and I started looking through the pantry. "Alright, we've got spaghetti, ketchup, and...that's it?" I laughed slightly as I realized how little we ate. "Sorry, skeletons don't eat much of anything."
"It's okay. Spaghetti sounds good." Ben said, sitting at the table. Grillby sat beside him and I heat the spaghetti with fire magic.
"Here you go." I said, passing him some. The three of us sat in silence as Ben ate. He finished up very fast, and looked between Grillby and I.
"Are you..." He paused, looking down at his plate. "Are you going to try and kill me?" My eye sockets widened, and I quickly shook my head.
"Of course not! You've given us no reason to hate you, and definitely no reason to kill you. It'll be fine." I said, standing up. He moved forward very fast and hugged my legs.
"I'm scared." He said, and I could feel him crying. I looked over to Grillby, who simply shrugged. I put a hand on top of his head and shushed him.
"It's alright. I'm sure you'll be able to get home. You can get through the barrier with your human Soul." I said. I purposely left out the fact that he'd have to take a monster's Soul as well.
"You mean it?" He asked, looking up at me.
"I promise." I replied, smiling slightly. He smiled back at me, and it reminded me a lot of Papyrus.
"Let go of my Dad you horrible human!" Ben yelped as a bone hit the back of his head. I looked up in the hallway where Papyrus was standing. "Don't get any closer or I will kill you!"
