20. Shout
I woke up in George's arms once again early the next morning as the sun was just beginning to rise. He'd come and slept in my bed yesterday night with me, neither of us wanting to leave the other one. However nothing had happened because of Brian being in the next room. I didn't mind, I was just happy to be back in George's arms again.
I sat up and looked over at George sleeping with his mouth slightly agape, making my lips turn up into an admiring grin.
I moved his messy hair from his closed eyes, causing him to stir slightly.
I placed a small kiss on his cheek making his eyes flutter open.
"Good morning." I bit my lip leaning over him.
He smiled radiantly and yawned, stretching out slightly.
"I could get used to waking up like this." He smiled groggily leaning up to kiss me gently.
"Poppy?" Brian knocked at my door suddenly, causing George to jump and slide off the side of my bed in shock.
I looked over the side of my bed wide eyed, seeing George looking back up to me with a terrified expression.
"Is everything all right?" Brian asked worriedly hearing the large thud.
"Everything's fine, just give me a moment." I spoke frantically, my voice cracking as I got up off the bed looking around panic-stricken for somewhere for George to hide.
As George got up my eyes landed on my closet and I began pushing him towards it hastily, shoving him inside it.
"I love you." He sang with a smirk in between my hanging clothes.
I shook my head unable to stop a grin from rising on my lips as I shut the closet door.
I hurried over to the door.
"Yes?" I opened the door breathlessly to Brian who was wearing a suit and seemingly ready to go somewhere so early in the morning.
"Your father called this morning, he hopes that you'll go to visit him today like you had planned?" Brian smiled slightly, looking glad I had got on with my father.
"Yes, of course." I nodded with a small smile.
"Alright, I can take you if you'd like, I'm supposed to be out to a meeting soon anyway." He offered kindly, looking down at his watch.
"Oh, no you don't have to do that, go ahead and I'll catch a cab, really it's fine." I smiled with a nervous undertone not wanting to get caught trying to sneak George out of the flat.
"You're sure?" Brian asked curiously.
The loud thudding sound of George falling against a closet wall made me panic slightly.
"Ow." George muttered faintly.
"Oh, something must've fell over in my closet. What a pain in the ass," I looked back to the closet door hoping George would hear the last part.
"Brian you go on, I'll take a cab later." I nodded.
"Alright." He sighed looking like he had been rushed to be on his way, not having time to question me further.
I gave him a quick peck on the cheek goodbye and closed my door, hearing him walk out of the apartment.
"Could you have been any louder?" I asked George walking over to my bed and sitting down as he opened the closet door.
He was wearing a lacy red bra I owned over his pyjama shirt with a smirk etched over his face.
"Why haven't I seen this one before?" He looked down at it, his smirk growing.
I grabbed one of my pillows and threw it over at him playfully.
"Take it off." I laughed.
"Alright, meow." He spoke defensively struggling to undo the hooks in the back.
"How did I get this on?" He asked astounded as he was unable to unhook it in the back.
I got up rolling my eyes and unhooked it for him, taking it from him before he could get his hands on it again.
"That was kind of romantic." He smiled goofily.
I hummed in response with a playful smirk as I hung up the bra and put it back in my closet.
"Did you have any plans today?" I inquired as I began picking out an outfit.
"No, we film the last scene of the film in two days, other than that nothing." He shrugged sitting down on my bed.
"Will you come to my father's with me today?" I asked nervously.
"A-Are you sure you want me there?" George asked unsure if I had thought it through.
I nodded looking over my shoulder to him.
"To meet your whole new family?" He looked nervous himself.
"I'm sure bringing a Beatle along with me will get some bonus points with my siblings." I smirked at him teasingly.
He rolled his eyes.
"Seriously though, I'd really like for you to be there with me." I smiled at his nervous grin.
"Sure Poppy. I'd love to." He forced a smile.
I understood that now that I would introduce him as my boyfriend instead of a friend to my newly found family might be nerve wracking, but I felt the same if not more worried about how they'd react to me. What if they hated me?

We had eventually gotten to the address my father had told me was his, and George and I were two nervous wrecks on the verge of breakdowns.
I knocked at the door once we'd gotten to the door. We'd picked up some flowers for my step mother unsure of what exactly was the proper gift to buy when meeting a family you didn't know you had.
"You'll be great love." George smiled over at me reassuringly.
The door opened to reveal the glowing young woman my father had married. Her hair was the loveliest shade of auburn and piercing blue eyes, seeming to be in her late thirties like my father.
My eyes were immediately drawn to her stomach, where she was showing a large baby bump through her dress. I was slightly taken aback but did my best not to gawk at the sight of it.
"Hello, I'm Rosetta. You must be Penelope." She beamed joyfully extending a hand out.
"Nice to meet you." I shook her hand with a meek grin.
"This is George, my boyfriend." I grinned introducing George noticing his tenseness.
Her eyes widened slightly realizing who he was.
"Hello." She smiled slightly dazed.
"It's nice to meet you Mrs. Green." George smiled charmingly.
"These are for you." I extended the bouquet making her snap out of it, taking them delightedly.
"Thank you, come in, come in," she insisted.
"She's pregnant?" George whispered so she couldn't hear him, just as shocked as I was as we walked in behind her.
"You know as much as I do." I whispered back wide eyed.
The two of stepped inside their large home, marble floors and a large chandelier hanging in the entrance, a winding staircase going up to the second floor. Everything looked very elegant and clean, I couldn't believe this is how successful my father turned out to be.
"Frank, Penelope's here." Rosetta called.
I tensed up slightly, George immediately sliding his hand around my waist comfortingly.
"Penelope, George!" My father exclaimed jubilantly as he came into sight.
"Hello." George and I both greeted.
"I hope it's okay I brought George." I spoke putting my hand on George's chest.
"No problem at all, the more the merrier." A small grin tugged his lips upward, noticing how close we were.
"Who's here?" The voice of a young girl asked as she came around the corner where Frank had come from.
As she came into sight her long blonde hair and piercing blue eyes made her appearance known, her light pink long sleeve mini dress perfectly ironed and washed, a bow in her hair to match.
She smiled brightly as she saw me but her jaw fell to the ground once her gaze landed on George.
"Caroline, I've told you about Penelope. Penelope, this is Caroline." My father looked back to her with a wide smile.
She smiled, forcefully tearing her gaze away from George back to me.
"It's nice to meet you." She looked excited.
"You too." I beamed.
"Harry." Caroline called to the doorway motioning for him to come forward.
A moment passed before Caroline sighed exasperatedly and left to grab him, coming back tugging on the poor little boy's arm.
Harry was short and tough looking, his fiery auburn hair kept long in a mop top much like the boys', freckles covering his nose and cheeks and his deep blue eyes looking slightly scared, keeping to the ground. He hid behind his sister, clutching her arm tightly.
"He's a tad bit shy." Rosetta smirked at her son.
"Am not." He spoke defensively, remaining hidden behind Caroline.
"Well, you two should come in, I've just made some tea on the kettle and I've got some scones if you'd like some." Rosetta smiled widely.
"I'd like that." I nodded elated that she was so kind toward me.
Everyone walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table while Rosetta poured everyone some tea.
I noticed Caroline was looking at George and I like she was about to explode with questions. After all it wasn't everyday she meets her half sister and she so happens to bring a Beatle along. My mind was practically boggling for her.
"Aren't you George Lemon?" Harry stared at George piping up questioningly.
I began to giggle at George's furrowed eyebrows as Caroline gasped in horror.
"George Harrison, Harry." She whispered correcting him, extremely embarrassed by his lack of Beatle knowledge.
"Oh." Harry blushed.
"That's alright, sometimes I don't even know which one I am." George grinned jokingly.
Harry smiled at George, letting out a small giggle.
I looked over at George with admiration of how good he seemed to be with Harry.
"Eat up before I get to them, I've been a monster ever since I've started eating for two." Rosetta sighed as she placed the scones down on the table, sitting down next to Frank.
"Oh that's alright, when are you due?" I inquired unable to look away from her stomach.
"In three months." She smiled radiantly.
I noticed Frank's slightly tense stature.
"Mother is having another boy." Caroline gushed joyously.
"Well I can't wait to meethim." I smiled slightly, although it felt extremely odd that my next sibling would be twenty years younger than I was.
"Me neither, I'm already in love." She grinned putting her hands on her bump happily.
"I bet." I breathed out keeping the forced smile plastered on my face.
"Have you ever thought about having a baby?" Rosetta smiled meaning well, causing me and George to both shift uncomfortably.
"No, I guess It's never crossed my mind." I cleared my throat, feeling George's gaze on me intensely.
"Oh, well you've got plenty of time for that." She nodded understandingly.

I didn't know why, but I couldn't shake that conversation from my head for the rest of the day. Something about it just didn't settle well for me, and it wasn't until George was playing with Harry and Caroline in the backyard that I realized what was so wrong.
I was late.
