"Dad! You know I met a girl in front of our school today!" Ansh says, excitedly as he comes home.
"Achha? Bohot bada ho gaya mera beta. Ladkiyon se mil raha hai? (Oh? My kid has grown up! Girls and all, huh?)" Shivaay teases him while taking off the bag from his shoulder. He was a little too excited today, especially after coming from school. That was quite a surprise for Shivaay.
"Dad please. Aapko pata hai main in sab cheezon mein involve nahi hota. (Dad, you know I don't involve myself in such stuff!)" Ansh says seriously. Shivaay apologizes and asks him to continue.
"Well, so aapko pata hi hoga ki mere school ke saamne ek purana sa school hai.. (So as you must be knowing that there's an old school in front of my school..)" Ansh starts.
"Okay, mujhe ye baat pata nahi thi, but anyway, continue. (I wasn't aware of that)" Shivaay interrupts.
"Dad! Aapka kuchh nahi ho sakta! Anyway. I met a girl there. Mujhse ek saal chhoti. And she was so cute! And no. Aap jaisa soch rahe hai, waisa kuchh nahi hai! (You're impossible! Anyway, I met a girl there  and she was so cute! And no, there isn't anything like what you're thinking!)" Ansh defends himself when Shivaay smirks at him mouthing the word 'cute'.
"Dad! I saw her as my sister! You know uski bilkul aapki jaisi aankhein hai. When I asked her about it usne kaha... Something.. Yes! Kanji aankhein! Cute right? And you know humne bohot saari baate ki....(She's like my sister! You know, she has eyes just like yours! What was she saying... Something.. Yes! Kanji aankhein!! We talked a lot dad ..)" Ansh keeps talking, but was Shivaay paying attention anymore? Of course not! His mind was stuck with the one word his son had just uttered. The one word which was capable of bringing back memories and memories and memories all together! "Kanji". Was it someone related to her? Who was she? Why did she know that word? That word which was only between him and.. No. Not again Shivaay! Not again! Control yourself. You hate her. You. Hate. Her. His heart ached as he repeated the words in his head, but he ignored it.
"No I don't, dad! That's the point! I don't hate her! Main usko aapse zaroor milaaunaga. You will be very happy! (I will surely bring her home one day, dad!)" Ansh says, excitedly. Shivaay had spoken the words aloud, without realizing it.
"Enough champ. You know I don't like it when your friends come home. Chal abb jaldi se change kar ke neeche aa, lunch karna hai. ( Come on now, change up and come downstairs for lunch)" He says sternly and leaves the room leaving a surprised Ansh behind.

"Maa! Kaha ho aap? Maa!!! (Mom!! Where are you?)" Annika comes running out of the kitchen when she hears her daughter shout.
"Kya hua? Kyu aasman ko sar par utha liya hai? Thik hai na tu? (What happened? Why are you screaming this way? Are you alright?)" Annika asks, concerned.
"Offo Maa! Itne sawal! Mujhe kuchh nahi hua. Aapko kuchh batana tha mujhe!! (Ugh mom! So many questions! Nothings wrong with me. I've got to tell you something)" Shivika says, calming her mother down.
"Toh bina break wale train ke jaise non stop bol de na! (Then what are you waiting for?)" Annika says, excited. It was after days that she saw her daughter genuinely happy. She wanted to know the reason behind her happiness.
"Toh suno. Aapko pata hai na, mere school ke saamne ek badaaaaaa sa international school hai? (Okay. You know there's a biiiiigg inyernational school in front of our school right?)" Shivika starts.
"Ha..ha. Ameerzaadon ka school. Aage bol! ( Ya ya. Only the rich go there.)"Annika was now impatient.
"Mujhe waha ek ladka mila! Aur-- (I met a guy there, and--)"
"Hawwwwwww!!!! Ladke???? Shivika!! Tu kabse in ladko ke pichhe bhaagne lagi? Mujhe sab kuchh bata! Is ladke ne pareshan kiya tujhe? Ya kahin tujhe ye ladka pasand toh nahi? Shivika beta, main teri Maa hu na? Mujhe sach-sach bol kya hua? (Guys?? Since when did you start chasing guys? Tell me everything! Did that guy tease you or something? Or do you like him? I'm your mother, Shivika! Tell me the truth!)" Annika cuts her off mid-sentence.
"Maa Maa Maaaaaa?!!!!! Aaram se! Aisa kuchh nahi hai, aap meri poori baat toh sun lijiye!! Woh ladka mere bhai jaisa tha Maa!! Bohot achha! Main gir gayi toh usne meri madad ki! Aur pata hai maine usse paani ke liye puchha, toh usne kya kaha? (MOM!! Calm down! Nothing like that! Listen to what I'm saying, at least. That guy was very sweet Mom, just like my elder brother. When I accidently fell down, he helped me get up. And you know what he said when I offered him water?)" Shivika says, increasing Annika's curiosity.
"Kya bola? (What?)" Annika asks.
"Usne kaha ki woh school ke baad sirf Ex.. Ex.. Ha! Expresso peeta hai! Aap toh canteen chalati ho na... Mujhe bataao ki yeh Expresso kya hai? ( He said that after school, he only has Ex.. Ex..yeah! Expresso! Mom, you work in a canteen, right? Tell me what this Expresso is?)" Shivika completes.

"Aap na yeh kaali coffee peena band kar dijiye. Isi ki wajah se aap itne gusse mein rahte hain!! (I think you should stop drinking this kaali coffee. Its the reason for your had temper!!)"
"Annika stop! Its Espresso. Not kaali... Whatever!"
He annoyed her at that time. But not anymore. She is amazed by how time changes. Today, she would do anything for that, or any sort of conversation to happen between them! She can't deny that she misses him. Horribly. Neither can she deny the fact that they were never meant to be. Life had never been fair to her. She was given a fair amount of time to be happy, dance in the rain, to love and be loved. And she had no complaints anymore. Or did she?

"Maaaaaa" Shivika chorused. Annika was brought back to reality.
"Ha bol! (Yes?!)" She replies.
"Aap kaha kho jaati ho? Main kab se poochh rahi hu! Yeh Expresso kya hota hai??? (Why do you day dream so much? I'm asking from so long! What is this Expresso?)" Shivika was now annoyed.
"Expresso nahi beta, Espresso. Yeh ek tarah ki coffee hai Arre, apni kaali coffee!? Chal abb khana kha le. (Its not Expresso, child.. Its Espresso, its a type of coffee. We call it kaali coffee. Come on now, have your food)" Annika says, not interested in talking anymore.

"Chaahe andhera kitna bhi gehra kyon na ho, chaand kahin na kahin she jhaank hi leta hai. (No matter how profound the darkness is, the light always finds its way)" She whispered between her sobs as she lays down in her bed.
