Harry panted as the ice landed around him. His heart was beating like a drum. But he had no time to waste. Reginald and Dr. Heart were on their way here, and they were walking into danger. Harry rushed out of the room, making minimal noise.
He hid behind the wall before the staircase led to the living room and kitchen. His breathing was slightly ragged from the adrenaline, and Harry felt free. He was finally using his magic after so long. Maybe this could help him control it. Noah told him that love was the key, but maybe Harry had to love himself before he could love anyone else.
That was it: Harry had jumped without looking. Noah was his best friend. Then he kisses him without as much as a reason why? Harry didn't understand how obsessed Noah was with him. He thought it was love.
That wasn't love. That was abuse, manipulation, and rape. Harry took deep breaths as the doorbell rang. Noah walked around downstairs, going to open the door. "Hello, Dr. Heart. Reginald," he said coldly.
Harry slunk back into the shadows, hoping to not be seen. More footsteps were heard as Noah led the two men to the basement. The door leading to the basement was closed with a resounding slam that rattled the windows. Harry slid down the bannister and put his ear to the door. There wasn't any way he could eavesdrop without going into the basement and getting caught.
Harry racked his brain, struggling to think of a plan. If Noah wanted Harry for himself, then he'd have to pretend that he was crazy in love with Noah. He'd have to be submissive once again. Harry didn't want to be in a position where he was powerless again, but he had to be if he was going to free himself, Dr. Heart, and Reginald. Harry decided on his plan, taking a risk by opening the basement door.
Reginald grunted in pain as Noah punched him in the jaw. He spat out blood that stained the white floor. "So what if I took Harry from you? You had already lost him, you son of a bitch," he snapped at Noah, who had hatred in his eyes. "Besides, did you truly love him or was it obsession?" Reginald added. Noah hesitated in answering that question, his anger dying down a bit.
"It's the latter," concluded Steve from being shoved to the corner. "Let me guess: Kindergarten?" Steve shot at Noah, who turned and punched him in the stomach. Reginald winced as Steve doubled over, having the wind knocked out of him. "You don't deserve someone as amazing as Harry," coughed Steve. Reginald stood up slowly, massaging his jaw.
"Harry doesn't love you. He may have at one point in your relationship," said Reginald, having Noah turn his full fury on him once again, "but he doesn't anymore." Noah was about to punch Reginald in the nose when they heard the basement door open. Soft footsteps were heard coming down the stairs, and Noah lowered his fist. Harry appeared, having his head hung low. Steve lay down in the fetal position, clutching his stomach still.
"Harry?" Noah asked, his breathing being ragged. Reginald slumped against the wall, panting. Harry didn't speak but threw a punch at Noah, who blocked it and pushed Harry against the wall. Harry winced, and Noah just smirked. Reginald went towards Steve, who was getting his breath back.
They watched as Noah kissed Harry deeply, keeping him pinned to the wall. Harry put his hand up, and Reginald noticed that he had created an icicle. Harry put the tip to Noah's throat, threatening to break the skin. Noah froze and broke the kiss, too terrified to risk dying for Harry. Harry panted, saying, "My answer is no."
Noah nodded, his legs giving out. He landed on the floor as Harry took the icicle away from his neck. Harry used the icicle to keep Noah stuck to the ground while he got Reginald and Steve safely outside. Steve caught his breath and checked out the bruise on Reginald's jaw while Harry ran back into the house to get something. He came back with suitcases, setting them down on the front walkway.
Steve contacted the police, informing them of the situation. Reginald and Harry exchanged glances, and Reginald managed a small smile. Harry looked away, leaning forward. They had all been seated on a bench in front of the living room window. The window looked out over the front lawn, so it was good if one wanted to look out at the world.
"The police are on their way," said Steve, breaking the silence. Reginald and Harry nodded. Steve cleared his throat, asking Harry, "Why did you let him kiss you?" Harry gazed at Steve with a cold expression on his face. Steve shook a bit as the temperature dropped a few degrees.
"I had to. It was the only way I could create the icicle to free myself and you guys," said Harry. He shrugged his shoulders like it was no big deal. Reginald spotted blue and cherry lights coming down the street and waited for mayhem to ensue. Pretty soon, the neighbors came out of their houses and approached the house. Harry stood up and walked up to a police officer.
Noah didn't struggle to free himself, not even when the police came and arrested him. He knew he deserved this. He'd been an abusive boyfriend and had to go to jail for his actions. A female officer placed the handcuffs around his wrists, taking him outside. Harry was chatting with another officer—a male—when he spotted Noah.
"Excuse me," he muttered to the officer, who nodded and walked over to his squad car. Harry walked up to Noah, biting his lip. Noah waited for Harry to speak. "Noah, I want to thank you for being my first kiss. Also, I forgive you for everything that you'd done to me," Harry said, surprising Noah. Noah half expected Harry to chew him out.
Harry walked away as Noah was placed into a car. Noah sighed, leaning his head back. That was when he noticed the van. He recognized that van. It was what they used when people were taken to the mental hospital.
"Dr. Heart, you did sign the paperwork," a security officer from the Tradewinds Residence mental health service told Steve when he objected to them taking Harry away. "Did you not? Mr. Anderson swore he didn't forge your signature," the officer added. Steve remembered the session when Harry handed him a piece of paper to sign. He sighed, recalling how suspicious it was when Harry gave it to him. Harry walked up to the van, making to get into the back.
"Harry," said Steve. Harry looked at him with a blank expression. "Will this make you happy?" Steve asked. Harry thought about his answer, his silence speaking a thousand words. Steve felt anxious, but he didn't know why.
"No," said Harry honestly. "But it'll help me recover," he continued as the officer got into the back of the van and shut the door. Steve was struck dumb as the van drove down the street. He looked back at the walkway and saw that Harry's suitcases were gone. He must've taken them with him, thought Steve as the cops took him and Reginald back to their homes, Noah being taken to the precinct.
