Chapter 89 - Back Off

Kane attempted to look elsewhere but couldn't. They were definitely flirting or most likely going to get together that night and he hated every thought of it. But he was the one that had rejected him and he did believe it was the best way to continue forward, but it simply annoyed him way too much, observing the way the girl's hair fell at either sides of Robby's face, but through her strand, there was a long bright smile that was visibly. Even the way Robby's eyes glinted when he eyed her, lowering them for a second before he bit his bottom lip as they talked.

The living room was not loud, meaning each conversation was making the same amount of noise and that Robby's conversation could be finely heard when Kane focused on his voice . Ally attempted to stand in front of him to block their view, but Kane ignored her and moved aside, seeing them clearly.

He heard when Robby said, "So what's going to happen tonight?"

Her quirky giggled made Kane want to gag, furrowing his brows even more when he heard her say, "I'm starting to sober up; we could go back to mine?"

"My car's here."

"We can come get it in the morning..." she paused for a moment, and when Robby raised his eyebrow, she added, "...after breakfast?"

"Oh baby," Robby's low growls made her heart start to pound, "are you asking me out on a date?" Kane noticed how his eyes lit up when she asked that and it only fuelled his blood even more.

She leaned backwards a bit, reaching for his palm that was respectfully on against her back and lowering it towards the bottom of her dress, feeling his hand resist when he reached the hem. "I don't know," she cooed, tilting her head and leaning forward, "kiss me first and I'll see."

He chuckled, loving all her sneaky motives. "What if I'm not good enough?"

"There's only one way to find out," she snickered before leaning forward. They were seconds from connecting their lips when the girl felt a sudden pull on her shoulder, stumbling off of Robby and almost falling onto the floor. "What the—"

"Kane," Robby growled, his eyes narrowing instantly as he met the navy gaze that glared back at him. His light brown gaze had darken to a cold muddy brown that caused Kane to inhale sharply, but he didn't care. Even the top of Robby's lip curled but he didn't say anything, resisting the anger that was starting to build inside his stomach. Robby didn't move, staying slouched back on his seat and watching as Kane turned to the girl and lifted his chin towards her, as if insisting he was number one between the two of them.

"What the hell was that for?!" The girl cried, catching a few gazes but not the entire room. The rest of the crowd in the living room still chatting away without noticing that the corner was starting to broil.

"Get off from him."

"Is that your boyfriend or something?" She spat, her eyes sharpening as well as she tightened her grip on her waist. "Last time I checked, Roberto is single—"

"Robby's mine," Kane snarled in a low tone, making sure that nobody else heard except the girl and Robby behind him. Kane never wanted to behave this way, neither had he really thought this through, it was mostly impulse and drunkenly driven, but at that point, all he wanted was for that sight to stop. He was not a fan of seeing Robby flirting with a hot girl in front of his face and his drunk mind was not willing to see reason.

"He's fucking single—"

"Kane," Ally came up from behind the girl, "we can leave; Jamie has a ride—"

"You're just saying that to get me to back off," Kane snapped at his sister, causing her to furrow her brows.

"Maybe you should back off, Kane." He was shocked when he heard that from Robby, and when he turned to face him, Robby's glare was filled with a rage that he never knew was possible in his body. Robby was never angry, never even willing to hurt a fly, but this time, it was a murderous gaze as if he was ready to get into a fight with anyone who crossed him. The colours had drained from his face, a pale shade that almost seemed demonic. Even the way his lips twitched the longer he stated at Kane, was frightening on its own. He then turned to the girl, "Sierra, you're fine."

"He's just drunk," Ally apologized for him, stepping in front of the girl and patting her shoulder. "They're not together either. I'm sorry about this."

"It's not your place to apologize Ally," Robby spoke, standing to his feet and straightening hist turtleneck and pulling down on his jeans. He stepped around Kane and placed a hand on Sierra's lower back, guiding her towards the door. "We can leave Sierra; we'll grab my car in the morning—"

"Are you kidding me Robby?" Kane voice had been a bit louder than earlier, now catching the attention of more people and the room was starting to get quiet. Robby was never one to cause a scene, neither was he interesting in participating in one.

The only way he thought to get out of this situation without having rumours start was to wrap an arm around Kane's shoulders and lead him towards the hallway, forcing a smile while the others looked. "Maybe we should talk elsewhere." He then nodded his head to Sierra and said, "I'll meet you at your car, alright? Wait for me there."

Kane attempted to resist his grasp but Robby used more than needed strength to squeeze him into a headlock, dragging him towards the end of the hallway and pushed open a random door, shoving Kane inside the room. Kane stumbled from the push and eventually landed on the floor, his butt starting to ache from the hard fall.

It was clear Robby was fuming, slamming the door shut behind him and exhaling a long series of curse before he finally faced Kane.
