Chapter 77 - I Need A Shot
Jasper felt as if he had gone paralyzed for a moment. He wasn't sure what to do, how to even act. But he suddenly felt as if his mind had sobered up for a split second, reliving the memories from today's events way too vividly. He remembered the way Jay rushed to the field, the way the entire field had gone quiet while he screamed, his father's stare while he walked off the field and to the locker room. He remembered his argument with his coach, the one with Kane and finally the one of his father disowning him.
Those were not memories he wanted to live at the moment and the only way to prevent that was by taking a shot.
"You both keep interrupting one another during my time," Jamie groaned, glaring towards Kane who completely ignored her.
Jasper hadn't said anything yet, but the freedom in his face had ceased when he saw Kane. Kane was wearing a yellow sweater with the hood covering his bed hair and black baggy sweats that belonged to his father. He had been sleeping when Ally woke him for an emergency, and since it related to Jasper, there was no way he would refuse to help.
But he hadn't expected to find Jasper on the couch, ready to have sex with another person. They had both agreed that they would start seeing one another and even though they had fought, Kane was not yet certain of where they stood. He had told himself he would wait until the answer was concrete but at the moment, it wasn't. Seeing Jamie being the one to receive this love made him gulp, his heart squeezing more than it should. Regardless, his focus was not scolding him but making sure he left this place in one piece.
"Jasper, let's get you home."
Jasper felt the memory return again and shook his head in disbelief. He didn't say anything though, returning his lips onto hers and pressed his skin against hers, but the motions were different. He seemed to be in a rush, agitated that he barely allowed enough time for him to breathe between the kisses.
But he paused again when he heard, "Jasper, I know you're hurt but I'm not here to talk about what happened. Ally said you needed help and—"
"No," Jasper shook his head, pushing himself off the couch but stumbling backwards as he used way too much force. When he stabilized his stance, he pointed a finger towards Kane, his teeth gritting as he remembered the quivering visage of his father as he told him he no longer had a place once he graduated. "You have no idea how I feel."
"Please," Kane begged, stepping towards him slowly. "I'll get you home."
"I don't have a fucking home because of you!" Jasper screamed, causing the both of them to inhale a sharp breath, taken aback by how quickly his emotions had shifted. One second, he was filled with lustful romance and now, he was near tears. He sensed it too and he rapidly shook his head, pausing for a moment before grabbing his shirt from the floor. "I need a shot."
"No you don't."
Jamie watched as Kane followed Jasper towards the kitchen, rolling her eyes and glancing down at her shirt. Jasper had ripped it to the point that only her bra showed, but she was never one afraid to show her body. Besides, there were plenty of men out on the balcony, they must be one willing to spend a little time with her, there always was:
Jasper shoved his arms through his shirt, his vision blurring every few seconds as he made his way inside the kitchen, cursing as he continuously lifted empty bottoms. He was unable to find anything, even all the beers were empty and he felt as if his reality was colliding way too much with his drunk mind that he pulled open the fridge violently, scuffling through everything inside until he found one can of beer hidden at the back.
"Stop, what's got into you?" Kane reached him before he could open it, grabbing his wrist to stop him. It was clear Jasper was going through an ordeal—he had never seen him this broken before. Jasper was always tough and cocky but it seemed as if all had been ripped to shreds, left with an invaluable facade. The moment Jasper felt Kane's touch, he instantly attempted to pry himself apart, only causing the can to smash against the floor, the impact causing a hole on the side of the can.
As it started leaking, Jasper inhaled a sharp breath, shaking his head as he stumbled a few steps, finally able to pull apart from Kane. "Thank you for wasting alcohol!" he growled at Kane, narrowing his eyes at him before storming away from him to the dining room, searching for any other bottle.
Jamie who had been walking past them heard the raucous and couldn't help but pause, glancing by the entrance to the dining room as Jasper continued to ruffle through all the bottles on the table. She had never seen him this way, totally out of his mind and although it frightened her, she hoped to find out more of what was going on.
"Jasper, please just listen to me—"
"Kane, you better leave me alone right now, I'm fucking fine." He shoved Kane's hand away, continuing to look through the piles and he eventually found a bottle with a quarter of liquor left in it. The moment he even attempted to open the bottle, Kane lunged towards him and held his wrist.
Although Jasper was ordinarily stronger than Kane, the alcohol in his system made him feel sluggish and he could not resist when Kane pried the alcohol from his grasp. The moment that happened, he attempted to swing his fist forward but he felt terribly slow that Kane simply caught his wrist. "Stop it Jasper!" As if that hadn't been enough, he attempted to pull himself apart but shove his elbow into Kane's stomach, but he failed since Kane stepped backwards. "Jasper, you're going crazy, stop!"
"Now you think I'm crazy?!" he roared, gritting his teeth and slamming his head forward towards Kane.
Thankfully, Kane backed his head away before their foreheads could collide. "Please Jasper, just listen to me!"
"I am done listening to you," he hissed coldly, finally meeting Kane's gaze, a death glare that frozen Kane's heart from the inside. "This is all your fault!"
"I'm just trying to get you home; Ally's worried sick about you."
Jasper broadened his shoulders, a condescending smirk pulling his lips before he spat, "Ally's just mad that I used her for sex and she wasn't even good at it."
When Jamie heard that, she inhaled a sharp breath, her eyes widening.
Although Kane knew Jasper was going through an ordeal, it was angering him that his sister was being spoken about this way. Ally had admitted everything Jasper had said to her and was sobbing when she explained it, but still asked Kane to help him. Kane tilted his head to his side, staring Jasper's narrowed eyes as he knew that had stung Kane.
"What's the matter with you?" he snarled. "Ally's done nothing to you."
Jasper laughed, "That's why I dumped her and keep fucking her best friend instead."
