Chapter 64 - I'll Call

Kane was unsure whether to believe those words were true or not but he had no right to be angry towards this revelation. Instead, he sat down against the wall, suddenly feeling exhausted and wanting to crawl into his sheets and nap for as long as he could. This mess had been stemmed by his own mistakes and as much as he wished he could blame Jasper for turning Jay against him, the only one to seriously blame was himself for ever believing attempting to make Ava betray Jay being the best option. Even worse, he had already made her cheat on him at the party when they kissed.

Thoughts were rushing through his mind way too much that he buried his forehead against his arms. Jasper's tears seemed to have settled as well by the way he no longer needed to continuously wipe his cheeks, and after a few seconds of their prolonged silence, he cleared his throat and muttered, "I should go."

Kane only sighed without glancing towards him. He appeared way too defeated to speak, no longer wanting to be wrapped up in this mess and Jasper felt his heart begin to ache that he couldn't leave him that way. "Are you alright?"

"I don't know Jasper," Kane mumbled as his voice cracked. He shook his head before exhaling another long sigh, "I don't know."

Jasper sighed, his hands squeezed into the pockets of his sweatpants and although his face shined pink from the amount of time he wiped the tears away, his demeanour was controlled. As much as he wanted to hate Kane for lying to him about Jay, he couldn't. They hadn't hung out for very long but Kane had something special that Jasper didn't want to let vanish without giving it a chance.

The silence was no longer heavy, as if all the weights had finally been lifted off both their shoulders. Although Kane did not know the entire story of what happened months ago, Jasper had revealed one of the biggest secret he kept from everyone. He had once been in love with Jay and that was one thing he had been tired of hiding, even though he acted as if he always hated him.

Kane was the second person he ever admitted this too; not because he had been caught the way Ally had, witnessing the truth before it was told, it was because he admitted it himself. He would have never admitted such to anyone and that made him feel not only vulnerable but trusting in Kane.

That was why he bent down in front of Kane, reaching for his chin with the tip of his fingers and after lifting his face upwards, he slowly leaned in, giving Kane the chance to stop him. He knew he wouldn't since Kane's eyes dropped to the puckered lips before closing them, letting his emotions be enveloped with the comfort of Jasper's, his rushing thoughts quieting for the second that their lips connected.

Jasper didn't deepen the kiss, but he kept his lips attached longer than usual, gripping Kane's shirt from his collar and pulling him closer, wishing that he could convince Kane into choosing him and only him. He wanted Kane to be all his, into his grasp any moment he wanted, someone he knew he would wake up the next morning to him by his side. He felt stuck in this feeling of not only lust but want and he knew he was starting to fall into emotions he hadn't even imagined would happen in his life at the moment. But he was not one to run away from them, even if it meant needing to fight a little more than usual.

Their lips locked, as if a puzzle piece fitting together and for Kane, the world seemed to have froze for a slight moment, a moment of peace he terribly needed. When Jasper pulled apart, he never let go of his chin and lingered his thumb across Kane's jawline, his lips still near his. He noticed Kane's eyes stuck on his lips before finally rising to meet his.

Slowly, Kane began shaking his head and his eyes lowered again to Jasper's rosed lips. "You're making it very hard to be mad at you."

Jasper couldn't help but smirk, biting his bottom lip for a moment before asking, "Does that mean I'm forgiven?" Although Kane wanted to say yes, he hadn't fully been over the fact that Jasper purposely ruined his friendship with Jay. It was cold of him to do so only because he was upset and Kane was frightened about what else he could do if he was angry again, if they were ever to start seeing one another. The instant Kane lowered his eyes, Jasper's smirk faded and he nodded his head. "I get it, too soon."

He pulled backwards and straightened his legs, staring down at Kane before extending his hand, "Get up, get yourself in bed. Take a nap or something."

Kane let their hands connect before pushing himself to his feet with Jasper's aid. "You're right, I should. I'll talk to you soon, alright?"

Jasper nodded his head, "Alright, I'll wait your call."

"Get home safe."

"Wait," Jasper stopped him before he turned away, reaching for his hand. When Kane felt his tug, he faced him again and exhaled a long sigh, closing his lips, unsure how to ask this question. He was afraid that Kane wouldn't call, but he wanted to know where they stood, what was going to happen with them. He couldn't leave this place not knowing if he would ever have the chance to be with him again. And he hated feeling this way since being vulnerable was not his strongest suit; it never had been. "I...I want to know...w-well, I'm not sure how to ask this...since you're in love w-with him but I wanted...it's j-just that—"

"Yes," Kane interjected before he could finish his sentence. He forced a smile and squeezed his hand, "I'll call you."
