He was unsure why or how it worked, but Jay resembled a bright light as he walked up to him. "I feel like I haven't seen you I forever," Jay smiled, refraining from reaching forward to give him a hug.
However, the light instantly dismantled when he saw a necklace around Jay's neck; Jay never wore necklaces. When Jay noticed that Kane's eyes had drifted from his own and onto the initial on his necklaces, his hand instinctively began fiddling with it, "Oh, Ava gave it to me. We were celebrating our one week. I know it's corny but..."
"No," Kane forced a smile, "that's cute."
"Why do you seem upset?" Jay tilted his head, following Kane as they walked outside towards the benches. "You seemed pretty down before I even walked up to you."
"I haven't been feeling well, that's all."
"Kane." Jay's tightened voice made Kane turned around, and when he met Jay's gaze again, he saw worry behind this hazel irises. "You'd tell me if something happened, right?"

He no longer had any idea what to even do about Ava, rather he had bigger fish to fry at this point which was getting rid of Jasper, which he didn't want to do yet.
As all these thoughts ran through his mind, the only thing Kane could think to do to slow them down was lean forward and wrap his arms around a stunned Jay, who slowly reached forward and patted his back in return. Kane was much bigger than him, muscular and toned and they had already hugged before but this time, he seemed to be leaning more of his weight onto him, as if he was exhausted and needed someone to simply take him in.
Even though he hadn't answered him, Jay reached over and squeezed Kane, letting him lean his face against his shoulder. He heard his breathing become shallow and said quietly, "I'm not sure what you're going through, but I'm here, okay?"
What they didn't know what that Jasper was standing a few feet away with Leo, Kyle and Zyder, tussling while they where heading to the cafeteria for lunch.
