"Kane's in a bad mood," Megan said, all of them continuing to walk towards the school.

"He is a bit grumpy," Kristen added.

Jamie narrowed her eyes towards Jasper, remembering how he blocked her from getting anything at the party.

Jasper raised an eyebrow, walking a bit faster and wrapping an arm around Kane's shoulders, as if to buddy him. "He's not in a bad mood; anyways let's go."

"Where are you guys going?"

"None of your business?" Jasper raised his eyebrows towards Jamie, "You sexual predator."

"What d'you just call me you asshole?"

"Called you what you are." He tightened his grip around Kane, "Let's go."

He felt Kane's shoulders stiffen and he stood in place, not letting Jasper pull him in the other direction. All three of the girls stared at them, glancing upwards as they were both taller than them, and Kane was starting to sweat in his long sleeve. The way Jasper's face contorted in confusion made him want to reach forward and grip his jaw, the same way Jasper had done in the car when it was only the two of them.

But he didn't.

Instead he shifted himself backwards, causing Jasper's arms to fall from around his shoulders. The tension in their gaze was thick enough that all three of the girls could visualize it, and Ally stepped backwards a few more steps.

"Kane, let's go..." Jasper raised an eyebrow, his voice sounding a bit more authoritative this time. When Kane glanced towards Ally and saw that her eyes seemed to return into the same sorrow he had seen this morning, he exhaled a long sigh.

"I'll see you later, alright?" All four of them turned away, and Jasper was left standing there, dumbfounded.
