Chapter 38 - Preview

"We can get a hotel booked for this weekend," Ava bit her bottom lip, leaning her back against her driver's window as she met Kane's gaze, looking up from the fries he bought her.

Kane was munching on his own food as well, and he turned his head to catch a glimpse of her puffed up cheeks before shrugging his shoulders, "That's pretty expensive."

"Don't worry about the bill," Ava winked, focusing on her food, "you just bring all of you and we'll have a great time."

Kane despised her. He hated every single second around her. Not because of her personality, because she was quite the character. Charming, a taste of sweetness he adored—it was because of what she was doing to Jay. She had agreed to start talking to him behind Jay's back, but Kane knew he had to withstand this for a little longer.

Just until he can find the perfect moment to reveal her dishonesty and unfaithfulness to Jay.

He bit into his burger, wiping the end of his mouth before finally nodding his head, "What are we going to do in that hotel?"

"Oh," she wiggled her eyebrows, "you want a preview?" Her palms slowly reached for his thigh, rising to his belt buckle before tracing back down along his thigh to his knee.

Kane smiled, but then asked, "What about Jay?"

"I'll keep him stringing along; I do like him."

"Then why are you doing this with me?"

"Because I like you more," she leaned towards him and planted a kiss on his cheek. "Let's not ponder on things that aren't important, okay? Just come to the hotel this weekend; we can have a bit of fun."

"I'm grounded for two weeks."

"Right," Ava's eyes saddened, looking down at their meal for a moment before they brightened again. "I have an idea!" She paused for a moment, waiting until Kane motioned for her to continue, before she added, "Let me talk to your mother!"

"Not a single chance in hell that's happening."

"Come on!" she whined, moving her food away and
wrapping an arm around his shoulder. "Please, I'll talk her out of letting you be grounded for two weeks."

"You can't talk that woman out of anything."

"We can't say that until we give it a try," she rested her forehead on his shoulder, "I'm good with parents, trust me."

Kane sighed, thinking about it for a moment. The longer he pondered on that idea, the more he realized he really needed to head to that hotel. Not because he wanted to do anything with her per say, but because that would be the best time to have Jay ambush them, and then he would know the truth about Ava.

Kane pulled a smile, "Let's go to my house."

While they were driving, Ava speeding down the roads in excitement, she continuously babbled about how parents always loved her and she would charm his mother. Kane never had that happen before, but mostly because he rarely brought a girl home and when he did, they weren't exactly favoured by his mother. This time, he's hoping Ava can get him off being grounded, as it was her fault anyway.

They reached the home, parking in the driveway and Kane's mother's car was parked in front of them. He gulped when he saw his mother leaving the home, her purse tightly squeezing her side, and she paused in her steps when she realized she was unable to leave because there was an unfamiliar car parked behind her.

She was wearing joggers with a wind jacket, her hair in a messy bun with white sneakers, and her shoulders broadened instantly, unsure who were in the car. It was when Kane finally climbed down, that she rolled her eyes and started walking towards her own car, "You better move that car out of the way, I have errands to run."

"I want you to meet someone," Kane explained, walking towards her and wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "Trust me, you'll love her."

"Hi Mrs. Trésor!" Ava finally followed Kane out of the car, ecstatically waving her hand. Instantly, Tessa was take aback by how beautiful she was, and that her son had been able to secure a woman of her caliber. Her waist was tiny with wide hips, her chocolate hair bounced with gorgeous curls, and the golden eyes were reflected by the sun. She stepped towards them, her skirt fluttering with her every two, and Tessa's nose was overrun by the strawberry perfume Ava quickly used seconds ago. She extended her palm, "I'm Ava."

"Nice to meet you," Tessa forced a smile, unsure why she was meeting a girl out of the blue, "I'm Tessa."

"She's the girl I was with that one night. When I left and you grounded me."

"Oh," Tessa eyebrows instantly raised, and she eyed Ava for a moment. Her perky smile, her dimpled cheeks, her golden eyes with bronze at the rims; the first thing that came to her mind was Kane doesn't like her. "Whatever you came to ask me, no."

"Wait mom," Kane stopped her from continuing her route to the car, holding her shoulders and meeting her gaze. "Mom, just listen to her, it's important." With the way his gaze stared into hers, she knew there was something with Ava that Kane was trying to get to the bottom of, and although she would approve of whatever it was now, she was waiting until they were alone to pester him with questions.

She turned to Ava and folded her arms, "Talk."

Ava gulped, glancing towards Kane who nodded his head. "I would love to spend a night in a hotel with your son," her breath was shaky as she had not expected the intimidation evoked from Kane's mother's eyes. It was clear they were mother and son, as both had such a tough regard in their face, as if it was their way or no way, and that they had the physical strength to back them up.

Tessa raised her eyebrows, eyeing Kane for a moment, and the way he seemed stressed, as if there was something she was not understanding, made her slowly nod her head but not turn away from her son. "Sure, but you know you'll have to tell me later what's going on.

"Of course," Kane smiled.
