Chapter 29 - Betrayal

"It had to be postponed," Jasper explained to Ally, lifting his shot glass and downing another drink.

Ally pulled apart from her hug, pushing the black curls away from her face and he leaned down towards her when he saw her attempt to speak to him, bringing his ear closer to her face. The music was blaring, the entire home was in a trembling, the walls cracking by every drop of the base, but all them enjoyed the time spent downing drinks and dancing along the rhythms. Ally had been skipping through the crowd with Jamie at her side when she spotted Jasper.

She heard the news that it had been postponed, and was curious as to why, "What happened?"

"An agreement between both teams," Jasper kept brief, already sweating from the heat wave of all the squeezing bodies.

Ally furrowed her brows, pulling his collar down and leaning towards his ear again, "Just tell me what happened—"

"I can't," his lips straightened into a line before shaking his head, "there's no way that's getting disclosed."

"Just tell me—"

"After you broke up with me," Jasper's lips lengthened into a smug smile, "that's when I didn't need to tell you anything anymore."

Ally rolled her eyes, "Whatever Jasper."

"You wanna dance though—"

"No," and she stormed away from him, squeezing through to the crowd to find her friends. She knew Kane had something to do with it, but she saw Kane standing by the corner with a few girls pressing their breasts against him, and she didn't want to bother him with this at the moment. It had been a struggle to convince him to come to the party, and him still being angry with her made it even worse, but she was successful, and now she wanted to leave him be for the night.

Soon, she saw Jamie approach him, her tight tank top revealing her tanned cleavage, and she licked her bottom lip before shoving through the girls, "Hey Kane."

The moment Kane's eyes met Jamie's, he escaped from the other girls, sprinting as far as he could from Jamie. She was not someone he ever wanted to be around ever again, and there was no chance he would even engage in a conversation with her after what she had done.

After a few long strides, he was seconds from entering the kitchen when he bumped into someone exiting, and his drink spilled all over his white shirt. Instantly, he exclaimed a curse and reached for the hem of the shirt, pulling it over his head and revealing his stiff pecs and shifting muscles as he pulled the shirt away from him.

The girl in front of him gawked at all the movements of the muscle fibres, almost seeing every strands as he pulled the shirt over his head, his droopy eyes looking at the patch of liquor covering his shirt.

"Oh man, now I have nothing to wear—"

"I don't think you should wear anything."

The voice sounded terribly familiar, but he only realized a few seconds later that she had spoken. When he finally met her gaze, his drunken eyes examining the details of her face, as she looked so different from the time he had seen her, he inhaled a sharp breath, "Ava?"

"I never got your name," she extended her palm, a dreamy stare behind her eyes as they kept diverting to his chest and his abs.

And Kane noticed that too; sober Kane would have probably held himself back and controlled he felt against Ava and Jay being together, but drunk Kane had no boundaries. He wanted to show Jay just how much he shouldn't have trusted her from the get-go.

He forced a smile, unsure where to extend his palm as he was seeing two of her. He forced his eyes to focus and reached for her hand, "Kane is the name." Her touch had been strangely soft, that even Kane felt a bit of tingles in his flesh, "You were too busy hitting on my friend that you didn't even notice me."

"I did notice you," she placed a finger on his chest, letting it slide down through the line between his pecs and pulling away when she reached the top of his belt buckle.

She was definitely teasing him, but Kane was not going to succumb that easily, "Too bad, I would've gone for you too, but he's into you so, I'm not going to—"

"We're not dating yet," she breathed, tilting her head, "we've been on a few dates but that's about it. Although I really do like him, he's way too sweet. You know he bought me flowers for our first date during his lunch time?"

"Aw," Kane mocked, "how cute."

"Are you jealous?"

"Why would I be jealous?"

"Because I wanted him and not you," she winked.

Kane smirked, pausing for a moment and staring at her. She was cute, a thin jawline with freckles over her nose, her brown curls bouncing over her shoulders and a petite nose with a straight bridge and a pointy stub. Her eyes were slanted, but perky, and she had long eyelashes that reached her upper eyelid. Her eyes were a crispy gold than Kane had never seen before, and he almost fell trapped into her spell.

But he wasn't interested in her at all.

"No matter, I can get any girl—"

"Well maybe I made a mistake that day," she inhaled a sharp breath, glancing elsewhere before reconnecting her gaze provocatively with Kane's eyes.

As much as Kane knew this was a bad idea, he kept going with it.

"I'll believe you if we start talking," he shoved his hand into the front pockets of his sweats, "not like this. We start seeing each other."

Ava slowly nodded her head, "But you don't tell Jaylin."

"And you don't either," Kane smirked.

"Kiss me to prove that you want it."

Kane thought this was funny, the way her glossy lips seemed to pucker when he glanced down, her eyes unable to turn away from his plumped ones. Both of them had been drinking, none of them in their right state of my mind and much as the sober Kane wanted to take control, stop him from betraying Jay once again, he didn't.

Instead, he leaned forward, letting his warm breath fall slip along her quivering lips for a few seconds before he slowly pressed them against each other, connecting them.
