Chapter 19 - Grumpy
"Where were you in morning classes?"
Ally rolled her eyes, "Since when did you become my Dad?"
"I didn't get an invite?"
"You were grumpy," Ally shrugged her shoulders, meeting Kane's gaze and shaking her head when she noticed his eyebrows fall, "I promise if you weren't grumpy, I would have invited you."
Kane waved his hand dismissively, "I wouldn't have gone anyway if you were hanging out with these guys." He nodded his head towards Jasper and Jamie who walked in the class, Jasper hitting the top of the door and winking towards Kane when they made eye contact.
They sat at their regular spot, Jasper patting Kane's back, "How are you today, boss?"
"Pretty good, you?"
"Nothing could take me won," he laughed before leaning towards him, "so the football team—"
"Still not joining," Kane snorted.
To which Jasper sighed, shrugging his shoulders, "Your the one that's missing out."
Kane glanced towards him, and that's when he caught a swift glanced of his knuckles. Although they were both red, the right one was a bit scrapped, and he pointed to them, "Missing out on what, getting into fights?"
After a short chuckle, Jasper rolled his eyes, "All I'm saying is that you should join before it's too late. I still think you're cool though."
Kane shook his head, "Whatever. What happened to your knuckles anyway?"
"Uh..." Jasper exhaled a sharp breath, glancing elsewhere but Kane's gaze before adding, "Football tussling, you know. Horse playing."
"Right..." Kane knew he was lying, but knowing the truth was not in his interest. Well, at first it wasn't. It wasn't until he found it quite odd that Jasper got into a fight, and by coincidence, Ally did not attend any morning classes. He wasn't sure how, but he knew Ally was involved in someway.
When he turned to Ally, she smiled innocently before glancing towards the teacher that walked in seconds later. He glanced over his shoulder for a second, just in time to see Jamie look at Jasper's knuckles before shaking her head and chuckling quietly to herself. There was something odd about the whole situation, but Kane rolled his eyes and kept his intrigued questions to himself, knowing that whatever they meddle with wouldn't be good.
He let it slide until he reached Art class, and noticed that Jay was not there. He had not seen Jay anywhere either during lunch time, and had even checked the bathroom. That was when his mind started rushing with ideas, and he instantly turned to Ally. The moment Ally saw the flames behind his eyes, she inhaled a sharp breath.
"I'm only going to ask this once," he hissed quietly, leaning towards her and withholding the anger that was burning in the pits of his stomach, "what did you do to Jay?" Instantly, the colours drained from Ally's face, and she attempted to glance elsewhere when Kane reached for her chin and locked their eyes, "Tell me, now."
"It wasn't my idea..." Ally breathed quietly.
