Chapter 15 - Tequila Shots

Kane waited.

It had been a struggle to leave the home without anyone knowing where he was headed. When he first attempted to leave, Mike ambushed him at the door and asked to spend quality time helping Tessa cook dinner. When he tried after they were done cooking, lying that he was going to eat later tonight, Ally stopped him from leaving and convinced Tessa and Mike not to let him leave, and have him eat dinner together.

It was only when Ally and Kane returned to their shared bedroom, that Kane pulled apart the blinds before opening his window. Ally furrowed her brows and said, "I'm telling your mom you left from the window—"

"I know you and your Dad don't like me being friends with Jay," he faced her, "but I am."

"Didn't seem like it the other day when he walked into the cafeteria."

"Mind your business—"

"Kane," Ally stood to her feet, stepping towards him, "you have to let this kid go." She folded her arms, raising an eyebrow, "Don't you think there's a reason everyone avoids him? Leave him be, it's not going to end well."

Kane sighed, glancing out the window for a moment, tightening his lips into a line. Ally had a point; he did not exactly know who Jay was, and had happened to have him secluded from everyone. But Kane was never one to care about others opinions—he was fond of Jay, and that was the only reason he needed to convince himself that leaving was still decision.

He rolled his eyes, "I'm grown, I can worry about myself."

Before she could protest, he climbed out of the window and landed on the lawn, sprinting towards their car. In a second, his car sped down the road towards the downtown bar. Once he arrived, he instantly shoved his palms into the front pockets of his sweats, pulling the hood over his black hair and stepped inside. It was packed as always, the smell of booze lingering amongst the air and he laughters bouncing from wall to wall. His first instinct was to head towards the bar, asking for a drink before glancing towards the pool table.

There was a line waiting to play, and by how long the line was, Kane figured they may not be able to play today but still having the chance to speak with Jay was what interested him the most. Kane continuously glanced towards the entrance, biting the skin around his thumb nail and downing a few drinks before finally feeling a bit better.

Until he saw someone open the door to the bar, and immediately knew that it had been a setup.

Jamie entered inside, eyeing the place and tightly holding her purse to her chest. Before she even stepped one foot inside, a random man placed a palm on her waist and leaned towards her, whispering something near her ear and Jamie forcefully pulled away, a grimace contorting her face. She only had a few more steps in before she was approached by another man, and this time she had to forcefully push on his chest to get him to step away from her, and even then he continued to follow her.

Jamie stopped for a second, glaring at him, "Please stop following me, I'm here with someone."

"Come on, you're hot, you know you want this—"

"She's with me." A palm reached Jamie's waist and she felt her back pressed against toned pecks, the fingers gripping on her hip. His light cologne that filled her nose was enough to let her know who it was, and when the man eyed Kane, seeing the darkness overflow in his eyes, he waved a hand dismissively and turned away.

Kane kept his hand on Jamie protectively, narrowing his eyes towards the man for a minute longer before Jamie pulled his attention away, facing him and wrapping her arms around his neck, tightening into an embrace, "Thank you, you saved me."

Kane forced a smile, "Yea, what are you doing here?"

"I came to see you," she winked, "have you been drinking?"

He raised an eyebrow, "Yea, I can buy you a shot if you'd like. How d'you know I was here?"

"You really want me to answer that?" she snorted, taking a seat on a stool at the bar. "You can guess that answer."

"Yea..." Ally's face popped into his mind and he rolled his eyes before taking a seat beside Jamie, "What do you want to drink?"

"Shots of Tequila?"

Kane smirked, "I like that."

He bought two shots and they both downed their shots as if it had been barely anything, and Jamie paid for the next set, and they switch for four shots until Kane finally get buzzed from the drinks he took earlier and the additional shots.

When Jamie offered another shot, he shook his head, "I'm already feeling it. I drove here, by the way."

"Why did you come anyway?" Jamie raised an eyebrow.

He shrugged his shoulders, "I'm meeting someone here."

"That someone being Jay?" When Kane slowly nodded his head, Jamie rolled her eyes, "You have to stop hanging around him."

"Everyone telling me that pisses me off," he shook his head, "I can figure things out on my own. You all have to meddle in your own businesses and stop worrying about mine."

She paused for a few seconds, before shrugging her shoulders, "Fair enough." She turned the stool and faced him, meeting his gaze for a moment before biting her bottom lip, "I want to get to know you better."

Kane snickered, "Get to know me?"

"Of course, how many girls have you dated?"

"Ah, you don't want to get to know me, you want to my history with girls."

"Can you blame me? You're hot," she pressed her finger against his chest, poking his chest and sliding her fingers to his jaw, "like look at you. Of course I'll want to know about your past."

"Well, that information doesn't come out that easily," he winked.

Jamie giggled, "I'll tell you my secrets. Everyone that I've been with," she leaned forward and wiggled her eyebrows, "and dated."

"To be honest with you," Kane shrugged his shoulders, "that doesn't matter to me."

"Why not?"

He leaned forward towards her, "Because if I like you," his eyes left hers for a moment, moving down towards her quivering lips before he smirked and met her gaze again, "it doesn't matter who you were with because you would belong to me."

Jamie could no longer resist herself. He had leaned way too close for her hormones to overlook how pink and moist his lips appeared. It was as if her entire body acted on impulse, by how much her muscles throbbed for his touch again, and she shoved herself forward, connecting their lips and tightly squeezing hers against his. At first, it felt as if she was the only one feeling the motion and the heat, but she slowly felt his palm on her waist and then his lips began moving with such delicacy but lust, feeling him smile before his teeth but down on her bottom lip, and she almost let out a moan.

When they pulled apart, Kane could not help but smirk, eyeing the way Jamie seemed to be begging for his touch, wanting his soul to be absolutely glued to hers. However, Jamie glanced sideways and then glanced a second time, before quickly attempting to press her lips against his. Kane noticed the uneasiness that had filled her eyes, and he backed away before she could kiss him again.

Once he turned, he realized why she had done that. And instantly stripped her palms away. Jamie tried to grab his wrist, but Kane pulled apart without saying anything else, shoving through the crowd and hurrying towards the exit. It was a struggle to reach the doors since his legs wobbled with every step from the four shots he had downed, but as soon as he headed outside, he swivelled his head every direction to find him.

And he saw him attempting to cross the street. Before he could, Kane jogged towards him, "Jay!"
