(Discussing plan of action with Okoye)

(This used to be an old prompt entry but I'm repurposing it now I guess)

Okoye
Shuri
Tony
Steve
Nat
Bruce
Nebula
Carol
Everett Ross

"So." Steve said, "What's our play? What do we do?"
Tony just sat there, blank-eyed and tears long dry, trying to wrap his head around everything. He said nothing.
Okoye folded her fingers, and seemed to glare at the world. Shuri looked just as lost as Tony.
"I don't know, Steve, none of us do. Why do we need to do this? It's not like many of us can focus. Let them rest. Tony just got back from space, give him a break." Bruce said.
Steve gave him a hard look. "We can't hold off the fate of the world just because somebody's in shock. Taking action always comes first, even before grieving."
Tears brimmed in Shuri's eyes. Her brother was gone. She had the mantle. She was king. Even her mother had decided against coming to the meeting, yet here she was, part of a plan that didn't even exist yet. For once in her life, she had no answers. No way to fix the problem. Only anger and sadness.
"There must be a way to reverse it. There's always a way." Okoye said. "But how do we do it?"
"We're talking about Infinity-Stone-level action here. Time travel, time subtraction, bringing back the dead," Tony spoke up. "It's probably impossible without the Stones. And guess what? We don't have them, and we don't know where they are. And to Steve's point, there's the fact of even considering doing that type of world-editing shit."
"To my point? When did I ever say that?" Steve said, turning around to look at him.
"Back when I made Ultron."
Steve sighed and put his face in his hands. "Tony, you can't just quote me and say it's relevant."
"I absolutely can and I absolutely will."
Nebula watched them, silent. Tony, who she knew had lost everything, still had the energy to try and lighten the mood for the group. It amazed her, to be perfectly honest. She doubted even Peter Quill could do that. For twenty-one days, she watched him rage over the loss of his friends and family. He screamed at Thanos for ruining everything, at Peter Parker for dying. She knew she'd only seen a tiny sliver of Tony Stark, but she thought she knew enough to understand him. Turns out she was wrong.
Steve heaved another heavy sigh and continued. "Anyways. Why shouldn't we try? There are billions of people grieving, and victory is definitely a plausible outcome. All we need to do is find Thanos."
"Really? Really? 'Victory is a plausible outcome'? Honestly, Rogers, I don't think you quite understand the gravity of this. We mess up, everybody dies. And you have a history of messing up." Ross stood up to his very unimpressive height. "As far as I'm concerned, we're screwed. Time travel is impossible without those stones, and they're in the hands of the most sadistic, powerful, and ugliest man in the galaxy."
"Then we find him!" Carol said, slamming her fist into the wood of the table. "I don't care how long it takes, because we can do this!"
Nebula glared at her. She didn't like this woman, she was too cocky and too powerful. As if Danvers knew where to even begin looking for Thanos. Nebula kept her mouth shut, watching everything play out. She wanted to know when it was best to make her move.
"Carol, that means looking for one person in the vast expanse of space. Even with Stark and Wakandan tech, it would take centuries. Everyone alive now would be dead, and then it's all for naught." Bruce said quietly.
"No, it isn't," Nebula said, arms folded over her chest. "Every day, for twenty years, my father would talk about where he would go when it was all over. The Garden." She spat out the word like poison. "Where everything was peaceful, as it should be."
They all whipped their heads around to look at her. Most of them didn't even know how Thanos had kidnapped her, much less anything about his plans from the beginning.
"And where was this information twenty minutes ago?" Carol seethed. "Did you plan to warn Thanos? How do we know if we can trust you?"
Tony shot out an arm to stop her from advancing. "I lived with Nebula for nearly a month. If she wanted to help Thanos, she would've killed me long ago. Sit down, Danvers."
Carol begrudgingly slunk back into her high-backed, slightly singed conference chair.
Nebula continued as if nothing happened. "We can get there. We can find the stones, kill Thanos, and reverse everything."
"Then what are we waiting for?" Shuri said, "Let's kick some ass."
