I precipitously awaited Kaylan's scream, a few more minutes now I was certain he was going to cry out.

Hours past nothing happened, just when I thought my plans had failed, Kaylan's voice echoed the entire mansion as I saw him running down with his pillow in his hands.

"Oh my gosh! Rat, a huge rat is inside my room,". He kept shouting like a child.

I saw him running downstairs.

He met his parents In a bewildered state.

"Son, what is happening?"

Mrs. Anna said. Kaylan's mom.

"Yes son, why are you shouting?".

His dad asked.

Kaylan let go of the pillow in his hand and said, there was a rat inside his bedroom.

Whoa?. Mrs. Anna didn't want to believe it. She said the mansion had been on pest control.

She swore her son would probably be hallucinating.

Kaylan didn't want to listen.

He kept on demonstrating how big the rat was on his bed.

"I hate rat mom, I hate it,". Kaylan said. Trembling in fear.

I almost felt like laughing but with everyone there, I had to compose myself.

Mrs. Anna sent maids to go up to the room and snatch the rat, a scared kaylan was taken to the sofa and given a glass of water to drink.

A few of the maids left for the bathroom.

They stayed in there for like ten minutes straight before walking outside with a huge rat in their hand.

Surprisingly the maids sent to catch the rat, end up being the same maids that had gossiped about kaylan, if only he knew how much his workers despised him.

Mrs. Anna implored me to go with kaylan to the room, I agreed and I walked with him.

"Go inside,". I said, pretending to leave.

Kalyan immediately reacted.

"Don't leave, please,". He said by holding my hand for the very first time.

We stepped into the room together.

Kaylan didn't stop staring around like a scared little puppy.

He looked so cute and weirdly handsome.

"Aww, is Mr. Kaylan scared of rats?"

I made fun.

He turns to me and gave me an angry stare, "don't irritate me, Alina," he takes his hands away, still looking around the room.

I laughed.

He turns to face me with his angry gaze, "Alina, stop laughing,". He said.

But did I listen?. Nope. I kept on laughing, the same way he did yesterday when he locked me inside the wine cellar.

Payback is indeed fantastic.

He tries to hold my hand, I pulled back a little and he grabs the air.

"Aww, too slow Mr. Kaylan and yes, it was fun seeing you like this".

I said, running out of the room.

While raiding down the stairs, grandfather and I met on the way.

He inquired if kaylan was in the room, I nodded and he smiled away.

While moving towards the kitchen again, I had this urge to go back and listen to their conversations.

Immediately, I faced back heading back to the room

I slowly kept my left ear at the door, listening to their conversation.

"Kaylan,?"

Grandfather called him.

He just arrived at the room.

"Hello grandfather, what's going on?"

Kaylan asked.

"Son, can we talk about your wife?".

He added.

"My wife, what has Alina done grandfather?".

Kaylan sounded tense and a little disgruntled as well.

"Nothing, I only came here to inform you that Alina has to perform the daughter-in-law tradition, she hasn't done that right?"

Grandfather raised a question.

What kind of traditions do I have to perform?. I kept on listening.

"Alina?"

While I listened to their conversation a hand placed on my shoulders draws me back.

"Ma'am?".

I got stunned to see Mrs. Anna behind, she looks at the door and heeding to kaylan and grandfather's voices inside.

"Were you eavesdropping on their conversation?" She asked me.

"I...I..." I froze.

At the same time, grandfather and kaylan walk outside of the room

They met us at the door.

"Hmm! What's is going on here?"

Kalyan asked. He looks at me.

I thought of speaking, but Mrs. Anna spoke up immediately.

"Nothing son," she said and walks away.

Grandfather takes a look at me also before leaving also.
