Chapter Two- Opening Night

Drew's POV

"Here we are in beautiful Miami, on the opening night of the Memories Do Not Open Tour and I couldn't be more stoked." I said as everyone huddled before the show started. Cleo was running around in her heels making sure everything was perfect. Our soundcheck was the first time Alex and I got to see the whole stage set up with lights, pyro and graphics complete. It was fucking amazing, Cleo killed it, she always did. It's like this job was made for her.

"We'd like to thank Cleo our production/PR manager and Clancy's right hand girl. You got us here in one piece and can I just add she looked so hot while doing it." Alex said making Cleo blush as she ran up to us out of breath in her red stiletto thigh high boots. We called those her lucky boots, she wore them the first show she ever saw us at, when we signed our record deal and of course the first time we dropped our first radio single ever. Now she was wearing them on the opening night of our world tour. Not to mention she looked fucking sexy as hell. Her long brunette hair swaying back and forth. Fuck she always makes me lose my focus.

"Aw thank you boys for making this job so amazing! I'm so fucking proud of you both, look how far you've come. Alex you're so talented and you know a hit from the first note. Drew you're actually brilliant. I love the fact that you're a perfectionist. You're always striving to be better and that's something everyone sound admire and Uh...um yeah I'm ranting. Go out there and light this place up. Just not literally, I'll be hearing for our legal team." She stuttered as we made eye contact. Those green eyes man. This girl was dream. If only she realized I felt that way.

"Cleo." I said pulling her to the side, while Alex went to go set up his laptop.

"Taggs if your going to say I stuttered because I was too busy staring at your amazing physique I swear to god I.." I stopped her before she could finish.

"No I was going to say we couldn't have done this without you. I mean that seriously." I said holding her stare.

"Drew..." she said looking into my eyes.

"Come on it's a tradition. We've been doing this since we met." I said looking at her.

"Do you remember how it started." She laughed as she started at me.

"Of course...my ex showed up at the show drunk as fuck. She was looking for me and I was about to go on. You and I were talking about the fireworks or something and I spotted her. So I kissed you." I said.

"Yep and then after I got so awkward I was like um yeah good luck." She laughed thinking about how that moment felt like yesterday to us.

"We made it a thing after that. Because I swear that was our best show ever and I owe it to you." I said making her blush.

"Alright fine...fine it is for good luck after all and I mean I did wear the boots." she smiled as she stared down at her feet. We both leaned in and kissed, for longer then we intended. When we let go we just stared at each other both smiling ear to ear.

"Drew! Come on!" Alex yelled breaking the blissful silence between her and I.

"Fuck Taggart" Cleo whispered as she hugged me one last time and ran to her position on the side of the stage. I'm pretty sure we were becoming more than just friends again. I just didn't know who would point it out first.

"Fuck Taggart that's my name don't wear it out!" I yelled to her as I ran backstage with Alex. He just looked at me and smiled.

"Good luck kiss tradition?" he asked.

"Yeah of course...it's opening night. It was important." I lied as we looked at Cleo for the signal. She smiled at me as she did the count down.

"3-2-1 Let's go!" she screamed as the fireworks shot up from the stage and Alex started the backtrack for Roses.

"Miami! Are you ready! Welcome to the Memories Do Not Open Tour! We are the Chainsmokers!" I screamed as the screen lit up with graphics. Cleo had everything timed impeccably. When the show ended Alex and I ran backstage and literally threw Cleo up in the air. The show was perfect and so was she.

"Whose ready for the first after party!" Alex yelled as he popped the top off of the Chandon. The whole crew raised their hands. Now it was time to get wasted. We headed to a bar not far from the venue to start the night off. Tequila shots, vodka and fucking fireball. We were throwing them back one after the other. I couldn't stop staring at her.

"What?" Cleo laughed as she chased her tequila shot with a martini. That's how I knew she was the girl for me.

"Nothing...you're just my girl." I said as I put my arms around her. Her cheeks rosy from all the liquor, and lack of air in this bar.

"And you're my guy." Cleo said back grabbing my face.

"Always have been and always will be. So my bed or yours tonight." I smirked at her.

"Fuck you Drew." Cleo laughed as she stared at me. "We can't make this an every night thing. It's not good." she laughed.

"Why is that?" I said.

"Because then it looks like we're dating." she said back as she took another shot, swallowing hard.

"Wait we aren't!?" I said jokingly pretending to be shocked.

"We're just friends...you know who occasionally touch each other." she whispered in my ear. "You told me yourself...you're not the commitment type. You're living the fuckboy dream. I'm sure after this you're going to hit another bar right?" she asked. I didn't answer back. That's why Cleo was my girl because she knew the real me, the part of me that even I didn't want to know.

"Yeah see and I have to go back to the hotel to make sure everything's ready to leave for Tampa bright and early in the am." she said as she let go of me. "I'll see you in the am Drew" she smiled as she walked out of the bar. Cleo was right about one thing that night. I didn't go back to the hotel after that, I drank way more than I should've and I brought a girl back to the hotel with me. I was a fuckboy but I wanted to be her fuckboy. A long time ago she would've wanted it too. But I broke her heart and even then she still tried to be my best friend. She told me she should've known better because guys like me don't fall for girls like her. But she was wrong I was falling hard for a girl way out of my league. These were the memories I didn't want to open. The song Closer is about Cleo. She just hasn't realized it yet.
