Promises
(Sadly, I wasn't the one who drew this awesome picture...)
Sans
=========
I knew something was up.
Frisk has been acting so weird lately...I don't know what it is though. I've been trying to get her to talk about it...we all have been trying to. But she always refuses...
I wish she could just tell us. I mean, she trusts us right? She trusts...me? I don't even know anymore...so today, I decided to take Frisk out. As friends of course...
=========
I knocked on the door. Toriel answered.
"Oh, hello Sans. What can I do for you today?" She asked. I tried to look behind her.
"I'm uh...actually looking for Frisk. Is she here?" I asked.
She nodded. "I'll get her for you. But, you should come in" she moved out of the way.
I entered. "Thanks" I said.
Toriel did a quick nod and went to find Frisk.
But then it got me thinking. Was this the right thing to do? Should I...we...just...forget about it and move on with our lives? I mean, if she said no...it's no. But at the same time...what if her thoughts are something...really extreme? If Frisk had something on her mind, she'd usually tell us. But...she's not saying this time...is what I'm doing...right? Or...is it wrong?
"Hey Sans!" I saw Frisk walking towards me. I waved.
"Hey kiddo!" I replied. I hope she didn't sense the nervousness in my voice.
She sat down. "So uh...you need me?" She asked.
My mind started to recite the thoughts I had before. "Um..." Was it right...or was it wrong "...yeah. I just wanted to ask if ya wanted to go to Grillbys with me" I answered.
"O-oh! Yeah, sure!" She said. I smiled a bit. "When?" She asked. I shrugged.
"How about now?" I suggested. She also shrugged.
"Sure" she said, standing up. I stood up with her and headed to the door.
"After you m'lady" I made an accent. Frisk laughed, which made my face heat up a bit.
"Wow Sans" she said, wiping a pretend tear from her eye.

There was one more fry in the basket. I was about to grab it until I realized Frisk was gonna grab it to. We slowly looked at each other. We glared at each other like cowboys do in movies. We stared at each other for a couple seconds. "Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!" We both said in union. Frisk held scissors. I held paper. She gave me a smirk.
"Dang it!" I said, slapping the table. She laughed, plopping the fry in her mouth. "I'll get you back next time!" I said with a wide grin. She giggled.
"Hey, you got the last fry last time! So how about call it even?" She said. I chuckled.
"Fine. We're even" I said. She smiled back.
And then Grillby came over to us. "Do you want me to get you guys another basket?" He asked. I looked at Frisk.
"Um, maybe not. Sans might get the last fry if we get a refill," she said, the corners up her lips raising "and besides, I wanted to go to the Waterfalls after this anyways" she said. I looked back at Grillby.
"Well, thanks for the fries. Just put it on my tab" I said, standing up
"When are you ever gonna pay your tab Sans?" Grillby asked, sounding a bit angry
"I will...eventually" I said, scratching the back of my head. He sighed.
"Fine. But anyways, have a nice afternoon you two!" He said. Frisk and I waved and headed towards the door.

Well, there we were. Sitting on the edge of a cliff. The waterfall right next to us. I looked over at Frisk. She was staring at the void like I was just a couple minutes ago. The only difference was that...she had this face. Like see was deep in thoughts. Like something was bugging her. She's been doing this face for years. This is what made us curious as to what Frisk was thinking about. Maybe she'll tell me this time...
"Frisk?" I started. She continued to look at the void. "Frisk?" I repeated, waving my hand in front of her face. She flinched.
"H-huh?" She frantically looked around for a millisecond, and then looked at me "O-oh, um, yeah, what is it Sans?" She said. I made a concerned face.
"Frisk. Come on. You know you can't fool me. I'm your friend! Just tell me what's on your mind" It came out a little more demanding then I wanted it to...but I finished my sentence clearly stating what I wanted.
She stared at me for a second. "S-Sans...it's nothing really..." She said, turning away to look at the void again.
"Frisk, come on. Please. Just tell me what's wrong" without thinking, I took her hands. She turned to me, her face a bit pink and the look of shock. I was even shocked by my actions. Why did I do that? I let go. "S-sorry..." My face felt a little heated. She shook her hands.
"No, no, don't be sorry. You're just...looking out for me...and...I guess there's no point in keeping it to myself anymore I guess..." She looked away. I turned to her.
She was quiet for a couple of seconds. "Sans...do you remember...that one timeline where...I promised I wouldn't reset?" She turned to me as she was saying the sentence. I paused, hearing what she said.
"Um...y-yeah kid...why?" I replied.
She sighed. "And then remember when I...broke that promise...and ended up resetting?" She said.
Flashbacks poured into my mind. "Yeah..." I said. She paused for a second.
"Well...after that reset, I...I never said sorry...I tried to forget about it so we would never have to deal with it ever again. So we wouldn't have to be where we are right now...with me talking about it...I just feel so guilty and I wanna say I'm so sorry-" I stopped her
"Frisk, it's okay! That's all in the past. We shouldn't be dwelling over the past kid-" she held my shoulders, which stopped me from talking.
"But that isn't the only thing I feel guilty about Sans!" She said. I stared at her. She let go of my shoulders and looked back at me. "I feel guilty for all of the resets I've ever done! I feel guilty for doing the Genocide route! I feel guilty for...all the problems I cause. For everyone!" She said, tears filling her eyes. Tears started to fill my eyes to. "I would even reset for silly little things like relive memories or because of little arguments I've had with one of you guys. I've been friends with you guys...for years...and after everything I've done, you, you Sans, the one who remembers all of my resets, forgave me. And I just...I feel like I can't do anything good anymore...like I just cause problems to everyone...I don't... I don't deserve you guys as friends..." Tears were falling down her face. Tears were falling down my face to.
"F-Frisk...I..." I couldn't speak. She started crying more.
"A-and then...this happens Sans..." She pulled up her sleeves and cut marks were on her wrists. My eyes widened. I didn't know what to say. "I know that killing myself will only make everything reset...so I just do this instead-" she was interrupted by me. I hugged her tightly.
We sat there for a few minutes...just hugging each other. Eventually, we pulled away. "Sans..." Frisk said softly
"Yeah?" I said immediately.
"Please don't tell anyone about this" she said, pulling her sleeves down.
"You know I don't like promises...but for you, I won't tell anyone," I said, holding her hands again "but please, Frisk, promise me this...please promise me you'll stop hurting yourself over the past. Just talk to me about it instead" I said, tears falling down my face. Frisk looked up at me.
"I promise" she said.
