(9) But I've failed
Herobrine creeped around the side of Entity's castle. His heart was beating fast. Finally. After over a year of searching, he had found Entity's castle. And Entity was inside.
'You're not going to attack him now, are you?" Herobrine asked.
'Why wait? We know where he is, and we're as prepared as we'll ever be," Herobrine said back.
Herobrine felt his panic rise, but he pushed the feeling down, angry with himself. This was what he wanted after all. Right?
Herobrine snuck around to the back of Entity's castle. There was a large window, the bottom of it at waist height. He looked inside, not bothering to stay hidden. He was looking into a large hall with double door on the other side. Entity was inside.
Entity was tired, more from stress than from lack of sleep. He flopped onto the floor and stared at the ceiling. He tried not to think of Herobrine, but it was hard. He closed his eyes, trying to relax a little.
Herobrine saw Entity close his eyes. He smiled. Perfect. He summoned his diamond sword and got ready to jump through the window because, you know, dramatic entrances scare your enemy.
Some sixth sence warned Entity and he sat up, spinning around. He saw Herobrine at his window and panic flared through him.
Herobrine jumped through the window, shattering it into a million pieces. He sprinted to Entity, his sword ready.
Entity leaped up from the floor. Herobrine caught Entity's arm and threw him across the hall. Entity hit the wall and fell to the ground with a groan. He got back up, using the wall as a support.
"Hero, please don't do this," he begged.
Herobrine grinned. 'Time for you to close your eyes Herobrine.' Herobrine closed his eyes as Herobrine ran at the defenceless Entity, ready to kill.
Entity dodged Herobrine's strike and ran for the opposite wall. Herobrine followed him. As Entity reached the wall, he ran up it, using it like a spring board to flip over Herobrine. As he flipped, he summoned his black sword in his hand. He landed behind a slightly stunned Herobrine.
"Please don't make me do this," Entity said, readying his sword.
Herobrine grinned. "Please do. It'll make this so much more fun." He then charged at Entity.
Herobrine attacked Entity, his sword moving like a snake. Entity defended himself, deflecting, dodging and blocking Herobrine's strikes. They fought for a few minutes, when Herobrine's sword cut Entity's right arm. Entity felt the cut and freaked out. He teleported to the other side of the room, his left hand holding the cut. Herobrine growled as Entity teleported.
"Hero, please," Entity begged. "I know you're mad-"
"'Mad' doesn't cut it," Herobrine growled.
"Herobrine, can you please let me talk to my friend?" Entity asked.
Herobrine chuckled. "He doesn't want to talk to you. In fact, he was the one who told me to kill you in the first place."
Entity was shocked. He shook his head. "No. No, he would never want to hurt me."
Herobrine smiled evily, not taking his eyes off Entity. "You're so naive." He teleported next to Entity and swung his sword. Entity yelped and jumped back, the blade just missing him.
They fought again, their swords moving so fast that they were just a blur. Entity's mind went into auto-pilot mode, instinctively deflecting Herobrine's strikes. As Herobrine swung for the thousandth time, Entity jumped back. He felt the blade cut his shirt, barely a millimetre from cutting his skin. His mouth went dry. He walked backwards, putting some distance between himself and Herobrine.
"Hero, listen to me!" he said.
"When will you learn?" Herobrine asked. "He's not going to listen to you!"
"Hero, please!" Entity looked right into Herobrine's eyes, praying that Herobrine was listening. "I didn't want to hurt you. But I should have been able to control Entity, and it is my fault that he got out. It is my fault that he hurt you. But please, don't kill me. We can sort this out."
"Oh yeah? Sort it out how? The only way to right your wrong is for you to be dead!" He lunged at Entity, his sword aimed for his chest.
Entity deflected and retreated, taking one step back for every step that Herobrine took forward. "I'll leave. I'l go far away. Somewhere where I can never hurt you again."
Deep inside Herobrine, Herobrine heard Entity. He felt bad. He didn't want Entity to leave, but he didn't know what to do. He heard Herobrine's voice.
'Stay down. You wanted this remember.'
Herobrine swung yet again at Entity. Entity dodged, still looking into Herobrine's eyes. "I won't attack you Hero. I'll do whatever you want, just please don't kill me!"
Herobrine's leg lashed out at Entity, kicking him in the chest. Entity was thrown back onto the floor. He rolled to avoid Herobrine's strike and quickly got back up, his heart pounding.
Herobrine started attacking for the third time, striking faster than he had before. Entity could barely defend himself. He felt Entity rising up inside and he pushed him down. The last thing he wanted was for Entity to get involved.
As their swords locked together, Herobrine pushed against Entity, sending him stumbling back. Herobrine fired a bolt of white at Entity. Entity felt the bolt of pure white energy graze his leg. He screamed as fire erupted in his leg and he fell to the floor, black spots dancing in front of his eyes.
Herobrine casually strolled up to Entity. Entity saw him coming and tried to crawl away, but he couldn't move his leg without feeling like throwing up.
Herobrine raised his sword, holding in just above Entity. "Any last words?" he said softly.
Entity looked into his eyes. "Just kill me. I deserve it."
Herobrine heard Entity's words. They rang around his head, reminding him of the last time he heard those words being spoken.
"You did it again."
Entity sighed, not looking at Herobrine. "I know, I know. Did I hurt you?"
"Nah. But you've got to keep him under control," Herobrine said gently.
"I'm trying, I'm trying, but it just NEVER WORKS!" Entity yelled. He dropped to the floor, hugging his knees. "I'll never be able to control him."
Herobrine knelt down next to his friend. "You're getting better, you just need a bit more practice."
"But I'll never be good enough!" Herobrine saw tears starting to run down Entity's cheeks. "One day, he's going to get free and I won't be able to stop him." Entity lowered his head. "Just kill me. I deserve it anyway."
Herobrine hugged Entity. "I'll never hurt you okay?" he said softly. "And I'll never let you hurt anyone else either."
Herobrine felt like the world was crashing down on him. What an I doing? he thought to himself.
'Enough. He's had enough,' he said to Herobrine.
'What?'
'Give me back control,' Herobrine demanded. 'We've done enough to him.' He tried to regain control of his body.
'NO! I'M SO CLOSE TO KILLING HIM!'
'I'm not going to let you hurt him anymore!"
'NO!' Herobrine stumbled away from Entity as Herobrine tried to regain control again. 'LET ME HAVE CONTROL! LET ME KILL HIM!'
'NO!'
Herobrine clutched his head in pain as they both tried to gain control. Entity watched in horror and amazement as Herobrine stumbled away from him. Herobrine felt his chest growing hot, and he realised that his power was getting out of control. And Entity was in the firing line.
"Entity.... run," he managed to say, still struggling to gain complete control from Herobrine.
Entity realised what was about to happen and he tried to scoot away, gritting his teeth as his leg flared with new pain.
All at once, Herobrine lost control of his power. He and Herobrine screamed with one voice as the energy went out from them in a shock wave, destroying the castle in the process. The castle walls and roof collapsed in on itself, burying the hall in rubble.
As the pain cleared from his mind, Herobrine realised that he was in control. He was on his hands and knees on the ground. Around his was a ring of clear ground while rubble was piled up everywhere else. He realised that his power had vaporised everything that had come near him. His legs felt like jelly but he stood up anyway.
"Entity?" he called.
Nothing happened.
"Entity!"
Herobrine started climbing on the rubble, trying to find his friend. "ENTITY!" he yelled. He prayed that he didn't kill Entity with his power. He didn't think he would be able to bear that. He tossed aside bricks, begging that his friend would be underneath. And that he would be alive. As he tossed away more bricks, he saw a hand, Entity's hand.
"Entity
He threw aside the rest of the bricks, unconsciously throwing some aside with his power. Entity had his eyes closed and his breathing was shallow, but he was alive. Herobrine carefully lifted Entity up and carried him back to the cleared ring. He sat down, putting Entity in his lap. He saw the cut on Entity's arm, the rip in his shirt and the burn on his leg, all caused by him. Herobrine.
"I'm so sorry Entity. I shouldn't have let him get control." Herobrine felt tears coming to his eyes. "I should have listened to you. I should have done something. I should have.... I should have done so many things. Then you wouldn't be hurt. It's my fault. I'm so sorry."
"It's okay," a voice said softly. "You stopped him in the end." Entity's eyes flickered open and he smiled.
"Entity! Are you okay?"
Entity winced as he sat up, Herobrine helping him. "Yeah, I think I'm fine."
Herobrine hugged him, being careful of his arm. "I'm so sorry. I stuffed up big time."
Entity hugged him back with one arm. "It's okay."
Out of the corner of his eyes, Herobrine saw the tip of a black sword being raised. He barely had time to think Oh no before he felt the sword go into his chest. He gasped in pain, feeling Entity stand up.
"Haha," Entity said. "Third time's always the charm, huh Herobrine?"
"Where's... Entity?" Herobrine coughed.
Entity waved like it was no big deal. "Oh, I gained control while he was dazed. Well, I'd better say goodbye. Entity wasn't kidding when he said that he would go somewhere where he couldn't hurt you. Anyway, see you never!"
With that, Herobrine's vision went black.
Before you ask, no it's not quite over.
