(10) I'm sorry
Herobrine woke up in his bed, the pain in his chest flaring. He ignored it and threw back his sheets, got up and ran down the stairs of his house. He had to get to Entity. He had to stop Entity before... well, Herobrine wasn't sure what Entity would do. Entity's words kept ringing in his head.
"Entity wasn't kidding when he said that he would go somewhere where he couldn't hurt you."
Where would Entity go? Where was it that he couldn't hurt Herobrine from?
Herobrine slammed back the doors to his castle, blinking in the sunlight. He took off in the direction of Entity's castle, sprinting as fast as he could. He wished that he could teleport, but he was too weak at the moment.
After a few minutes of running, he reached Entity's castle and gasped in horror.
The entire castle was destroyed. It lay in a massive pile of rubble, smashed glass and wood splinters. There were a few walls that had managed to remain upright, but they sagged drunkenly.
He had done this. Entity's castle was in ruins because of him.
Herobrine climbed up to the rubble, carefully working his way to the hall where he was killed. After sipping and sliding and scraping his hands several times, he made it. There was no trace of Entity. But when Herobrine searched for Entity's magic, he felt a large circle of it, right where he died. He went closer to it, trying to figure out what it was. After a few minutes he realised what it was.
A portal to another dimension.
Entity had travelled to another dimension so that he wouldn't hurt Herobrine.
And Herobrine had no way of telling which one.
He yelled in frustration, anger and pain. His shout echoed in the castle and over the forest. Herobrine stood there, unsure of what to do next. There was nothing for him here, but he didn't want to leave. He didn't want to put Entity out of his life forever. So he just stood there, as if waiting for a miracle.
Hours passed, and the sun went down until it was touching the horizon. Herobrine forced his feet to move and he picked his way back over the rubble. As he stumbled along, he saw something on one of the walls that was barely standing. He carefully went over to it.
Hanging on the wall was a single book on a bookshelf that was about to fall off. How it had stayed there, Herobrine had no idea. He picked it up, half hoping for some clue as to where Entity had gone. Inside were words, almost like a poem. They were written in Entity's handwriting, and there were darker spots on the paper, like tears that had dried.
Herobrine struggled to read the words in the dying light of the day, but he finally deciphered it. And what he read made him feel worse than ever.
At first, we were fine.
Then he came along.
I couldn't stop it.
I didn't know what to do.
I tried to reverse it, but now...
There's no turning back.
I've done everything I can.
I've tried everything possible.
But I've failed.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for killing you.
I'm sorry I wasn't in control.
I'm sorry that I betrayed your trust.
I'm sorry that I became your enemy.
I am not sorry for my actions.
That is the end of the book.
I know, it's a horrible ending.
But I don't care.
There is no sequel.
