Twelve: Forever and Always ♥

Elsa

"I'll never let go, Jack.", Rose, or in this case,  Alice cried out. "I'll never let go."

"P-promise me you won't give up.", Peter coughed out. "No matter what becomes of me, promise me you'll continue your life. Be happy, and let your heart go on, even if it means without me."

The room was so silent that you could hear a pin drop. There was no doubt that their play was beautifully magnificent, and I'm sure we couldn't pull off the same fake (but believable) tears that Alice had dribbling down her cheeks.

There was a serene magic that engulfed each person in the room as the live act carried on. I looked over at Rapunzel, who gingerly wiped the bead of tear from her face. Eugene, on the other hand, was frowning at their version of the movie which he classified as a so-called chick flick.

"Don't worry, Elsie.", Jack winked at me. "We can surely do better than that."

I forced a smile, "Thanks, Jack."

He did another cheeky smile, his teeth glistening like that Tooth said — like freshly fallen snow. I rolled my eyes and focused back to the curtain call.

Ms. Peters made a brief applaud, "Splendid work, Alice and Peter. I knew the two of you could produce something magical."

Alice blushed and smiled at Peter. Ms. Peters then turned to the rest of the crew, "Katelyn, the props and backdrops were absolutely stupendous. Oh, and Ryan, I never knew that you could score and play the piano."

Ryan gave a toothy smile and focused back to his comic book.

"Next group, please.", Ms. Peters motioned the next group to start. "Amy, Kiki, Elaina and Jeannette."

The girls at the back gave horrid looks at each other and proceeded to the front.

Jeannette's hair was perfectly straightened, and she reminded me of one person:

Regina George herself.

Kiki's hair was gorgeous! She dyed it strawberry blonde, and honestly, it looked better on her than her brown locks.

"Get in loser, we're going shopping.", Regina— I mean,  Jeannette called out. Her posse is composed of Elaina—who was playing as Gretchen Weiners, and was that Amy in a blonde wig? Oh yeah, her hair was originally dark.

"Hey, Elsa!", Merida whispered rather loudly— her face full of worry. "Where the hell is Hans?"

I shrugged, "He told me he was at Health class today."

"Health class?", she scowled. "There is no Health class. That department is on a roadtrip to Ohio."

"What?" My eyes nearly fell off my face in shock.

Then, he must be doing something. Worse, he's doing something I don't know.

Jack glanced at me, giving me a heads up. "Hey, Elsa. You okay?"

I think I shook my head. I didn't know exactly how I felt. I was worried. My blood boiled with rage. My eyes started to turn glassy, and I couldn't think straight. This project meant a lot to me, and he was absent for everything. I have to confront him about this.

"Wonderful performance, girls.", Ms. Peters praised The Plastics"Jack, Merida, Elsa and uh... where's Hans?"

Merida spoke up for me, "That dipface won't be coming, Ms. Peters. He ditched class for today."

"Language, Merida.", Ms. Peters raised her eyebrows. "I'll have Hans come by later to explain and make up for his missed performance."

I stood up, and started to head over to the dressing room. Even if he's not here, I shouldn't compromise our group for my feelings. I quickly placed my costume in the dressing room, and attempted to fix myself.

Jack

Merida snickered, "Ya look like a million bucks, Frost."

I rolled my eyes at her. I could hardly breathe in my suit. It was white, with a bright blue sash on it. There was no need to dye my hair, since well,  it's already perfectly white.

Suddenly Elsa walked out of the dressing room— her hands meekly tangled in front of her. There was nothing else I could see when she came in. She was absolutely beautiful. Her hair was braided to the side, which made her striking blue eyes more visible than before.

"How do I look?" Elsa asked the two of us.

I closed my gaping mouth, "You look beautiful, Els."

She giggled, "You don't look bad yourself."

There was a lingering silence as Elsa and I continued to gaze at each other's eyes. And then Merida coughed.

Merida said, "Let's get this show on the road."

"You don't understand!", Elsa cried out. "I'm a monster."

I held her hand, "If they don't accept us, then we might as well be alone together."

She leaped to my arms, "Thanks for being here with me, Jack."

"I'll always be with you, my snowflake," I held her closer to me. "Forever and always."

I could only wish that the play was real—that I could hold her close to me, and tell her that I'll love her forever and always. But everything has an end. The lights turned back on, and I had to face the reality.

She isn't mine.

Elsa

The play was indeed spectacular. The plot went smoothly, and we did get a high praises for it.

"Well, done Jack and Elsa," Ms. Peters applauded. "And to you too, Merida."

Merida blushed and headed back to her seat.

"I can say you all did a pretty good job.", Ms. Peters exclaimed. "The Titanic and The Snow Queen ones were really amazing, and I think The Plastics and Rapunzel can do a little more to improve their play, but overall, you all are amazing."

I gave away a sigh of relief. English Play, check!

Now all I have to deal with for today is the party, and Hans.

There are things I badly need to confront him about, and so I shall.

"I'm so excited!" Anna squealed— clasping her hands together in a smile. "This is like, the very first party you're going to."

I giggled and nodded in agreement, "I must admit, I am kinda excited."

"Kinda?" She placed her hands on her hips. "You're going out with your super hot boyfriend, for God's sake."

"That's what I'm afraid of," I shrugged. "I think there's something going on."

"What?" Anna's eyes widened. "What happened?"

"Well, I'm not sure. He didn't attend English class today because he had to make up for his missed Health classes."

"Health?", she blurted out. "The Department's off to Ohio and"

"I know!" I said with a groan. "And that's what I'm going to find out."

She gave me an unsure smile, but shook it all off with a giggle, "Well then, let's get you ready!"

She blow dried my hair which gave it small wavy locks on the edges.

I picked out a navy blue dress that hugged my curves, but didn't show too much skin. I topped it off with snow white pearl earrings and a matching necklace.

"You look beautiful," Anna exclaimed, taking a step back from the dresser to see me in full view.

I blushed and added, "Are you going to be okay in that outing?"

"Oh, we'll be fine. Kristoff decided on the last minute that he'll he accompanying me there. Besides, Angelica and Jasandrea and their guys will be with us," she explained. "Don't worry sis, it's only for the weekend. We'll be back on Sunday."

"I trust you and Kristoff, okay?" I gave her a quick hug.

She smiled and nodded.

I was quiet in the passenger seat of the red Honda. Hans was blabbering about what he did in Health class, even if I knew it was an utter lie. He talked about fitness and disorders. He made it sound so real, and he didn't even catch the clue that I already debunked his secret.

The party was located at a peaceful suburban home, which was a complete irony with what was actually going on inside.

"Yo Isles!" Pitch Black gave him a 'manly' hug. "You finally came early."

Hans smirked, "This is my girlfriend, Elsa."

I managed to smile at the intoxicated teenager. His eyes were somehow bright yellow, and I can tell there's something going on with his skin. Or maybe it's just the lighting of the space, I don't know.

The scent of cheap perfume corrupted my nose. A whole lot of the girls were dressed in black slutty outfits, and hooking up with every boy that they met. Good thing Anna and Kristoff decided to ditch this party.

"I'll be back, babe," Hans huskily said. It gave me shivers down my spine. I nodded and went to the bar.

The bartender just finished making a fruit cocktail drink for a pretty blonde, "What can I get for you, missy?"

It took me a while to realize that he was actually talking to me, "Uh, do you have anything without alcohol, and has chocolate?"

"Sure, sweetie. I'll whip up somethin' for you," he winked and turned on his blender.

I sat there patiently at the bar stools, praying that someone that I knew would come along.

"Elsa?", Eugene recognized me. "Didn't expect to see you here... Oh wait, Hans... Okay..."

I giggled, "Did you bring Punzie with you?"

"Nah," he took a sip from his red solo cup. "Goldie doesn't like these kinds of parties thrown by the hockey jocks, and I wouldn't let her go too. Men here sometimes get too woozy."

"Aww... That's so sweet," I smiled.

"Don't tell her that I told you that," he glared at me.

I raised my hands up, "Okay, fine!"

"Here ya go, missy. Whipped up a chocolate frappe especially for you," the bartender handed me a glass cup of foamy delight.

I handed him a bill, "Thanks!"

Mhmm... This is quite delicious. The whipped cream was slowly melting into the drink, so I secretly took my straw out and scooped up some whipped cream using my finger.

Believe me, it's a habit that I could never wear out. I have a thing for sweet fluffy white things like marshmallows and cotton candy.

As soon as I finished my drink I scooted off to a room to freshen myself.

Then it hit me.

Tears were building up in my eyes, and one of my worst fears has come to life. Lying down on the bed, I saw Hans making out with some girl from the school— Vanessa, if I can recall correctly. They were almost half naked in front of me!

"Hans!" I cried out— my voice trembling as I backed away.

He stood up, "Get out of here Elsa! Can't you see Vanessa and I are in the middle of something?"

I held my hand up to my mouth, still unable to believe what I just saw and heard.

I mustered the strength and courage to control my powers at the moment. The last thing I wanted to do right now was to unleash the cold magic within me.

I ran up to him and pounded my fist on his chest. With every attack, my tears bitterly dribbled down.

He deceived me, and most of all, I couldn't help but feel so stupid. Jack was right. I wasn't supposed to trust Hans, but I did. I thought that this was the way to finally forget him, and maybe make him realize what life was without me, but I was so damn wrong. I've always been so damn wrong.

"Why?" I fell on my knees, grasping the carpet of the room. "H-how could you do this to me?"

Vanessa merely stared at the drama I was building. She didn't even bat an eye to my mental breakdown.

Hans spoke up, "I never loved you, Elsa. I just dated you for a hundred bucks."

With those words said, my tears froze upon my face. Nor longer did I feel his deceit. All I felt was anguish.

I stood up and stomped my foot on the ground. A large snowflake formed on the base of my heel, and thick frost started to spread around the room. It crept up to the walls —  engulfed the book cases and the plasma TV. The bedside tables were frozen, and not too long, the entire room was covered in a thick sheet of ice.

Hans stood astonished in front of me. He started lowering his head, his knees bending down for my mercy. For him? I no longer have that virtue.

My voice came out as a firm and cold exclamation, "You dare deceive me. You have no idea who I am."

With one last final spell, I raised my hand to the ceiling of the room— covering what remained in stalactites of ice.

I slammed the door, and my tears flowed down my cheeks once more.

Now that my most precious secret has been revealed, I wanted to escape.

It didn't matter where I was going, I just kept running away from the house, across the dark pavement, and into the amorphous street. To add to my despair, the rain started to pour hard, and my sparkling dress was drenched in both the rain and my tears.

My feet hurt, so I decided to remove my shoes and carry on barefooted. I blocked out the sound of the rain and focused on the beat of my heart. I felt like I was going to collapse from all of the heartbreak that I had gone through. I need to stop.

The dorm was still very far, but I knew one place that I could go to.

Jack

On a regular Friday, I would be watching a normal Star Wars film, but right now, my hands wandered to a chick flick, 13 Going on 30. My twelve year old sister, Sophie, used to watch this all the time.

But since the tragedy, I never thought I could ever pull this disc out of the rack ever again.

I placed the disc into the DVD player and pressed play on the remote.

I was then alerted by soft knocks on the door, and a faint whisper of a girl, "Jack?"

I opened the door, and there I saw..

A head to toe-dripping Elsa.

"And then I just  I just saw him with Vanessa, and... agh!", she sniffled. I handed her another box of tissue papers as I listened to her story.

She dabbed the tissue on her left eyelid, "I shouldn't be crying like this, it was all my fault, really. If only I wasn't stupid enough to believe. If I just wasn't vulnerable enough, maybe I would have been happy," Elsa started sobbing again.

I wrapped an arm around her and pulled her closer to me, "It's his fault, Elsa. Not yours. Besides, he threw away the chance to be with a wonderful girl like you."

She looked up to me with her sore-red eyes, "Thank you, Jack. You don't know how much it means to me for you to say that."

I just gave her a warm smile, not knowing what else to say.

"Jack?" She called me out, and I turned to her.

She bit her lip and hugged a pillow close to her face, "I'm so sorry for not believing in you. I should have known that you were doing that to save me from utter heartbreak."

I brought my hand to her cheek and wiped away her tears, "It's okay, Elsa... We You're gonna be fine."

My heart started thumping so hard. Every moment that passed, we inched ourselves further to each other. I felt like time was frozen as I drowned in her ocean blue eyes.

WIth every second, I came to realize her familiar beautiful face— the light dust of freckles on her nose, the fine expression lines across her forehead.

These were all imperfections, but the thing is, her imperfections make her perfect.

Damn it, Jack! Just kiss the girl.

I didn't have a debate with my head anymore. This time, I agreed to what it said, so I leaned in and closed the gap.

Elsa

I felt sparks— no. I felt fireworks as Jack pushed his lips into mine. I was submerged to a place where I couldn't remember all the troubles and all the heartbreak that I've gone through. I have forgotten time and space altogether.

With my head going around, I absentmindedly placed my hands in his hair—the silvery locks that I've always dreamed of touching. I pulled his head towards me, deepening the kiss.

It all went by so fast, and I suddenly pulled away.

Every heartbreak started flooding back to me.

What if he breaks my heart? What if he gets tired of me one day and throw me away like a piece of Kleenex? What if...

"I'm sorry. I can't do this," I said as I ran outside, into the pouring rain once more.

"Elsa!" I heard him yell, but I had left.

I ran as fast as my tired feet could carry me. I wanted to be here, but my mind tells me that my heart might get broken again, and I could not handle that any longer.

"Elsa!" Jack got a hold of my hand— pulling me closer to him. "Please, talk to me."

The rain was loud and hard, but I heard him clearly.

"I love you so much, Els."

I sucked in breath as I tried to process what he just said.

He... loves me?

All this time, he actually did?

"I don't want to lose you again." He took both of my hands and grasped it tight. "I know you love Hans, so I tried to back down from the both of you, but I can't."

"Finally," I cried and threw my arms around him. He held me tight in his arms, and the world froze upon us again.

As we broke apart, I found the courage to admit what I felt long before, "I have loved you ever since I can remember, Jack. But the moment you and Rapunzel dated, I started to run out of hope that you'll love me back. And so, I met Hans. I wanted to forget about you and all of the heartbreak."

"But the thing is, I can't.", I added. "I can't forget about you, I can't let you go because I love you, Jack."

Jack

I almost fell on my knees.

She loved me all along, but I was too much of a coward to tell her how I felt.

I pulled her closer to me and embraced her once more.

"Elsa," I whispered into her ear. "I promise, I swear. I would never break your heart. I would love you until the sun stops shining. I would love you until the all the stars fall down from the sky. You will never have to cry again."

She smiled and pressed her lips into mine. I held her waist tight and twirled her around the pavement. It was still raining, but I couldn't feel it. Once I set her on the ground, the road around her feet started to get covered with a sheet of frost.

"Oh my god," Elsa froze, and her eyes were lit up in fear. "I'm so sorry."

"It's okay," I reassured her, until I realized. "Wait... No, I'm sorry."

"What?" Confusion was painted on her face as she shook her head. "No, this is my fault."

"You don't understand," I reasoned out. "This... This is my curse. I have the ability to conjure ice and snow."

Her mouth dropped, and she leaped into my arms again, saying, "I can't believe it."

She started weeping on my shoulder— the patch of frost on the pavement crawling further into the street.

I didn't believe it, either. I thought I has always been alone with my power, and it turns out I wasn't. And all along, Elsa was my other half.

"Maybe we are really the Snow Queen and the Snow King.", Elsa giggled.

"Maybe we are really meant for each other," I smirked and pulled her into my arms.

"I love you Jack."

"I love you too, my snowflake... Forever and always."
