Chapter Twenty (The Start Of Forever)

Susanna's Pov

I'm a married woman. Susanna Stephens Stamper is the name. Being in love with my darling husband, Joseph Stamper, is my game.

With my job at the school, we had to postpone our "actual honeymoon". The day after we got married, we ran down to the Smokies, and stayed there for the weekend. But our traveling around would have to wait till the summer months. Where we are now. Coming back actually.

"You excited?" Joey asked with a peaceful smile on his face from the driver seat of my green classic car. He was so adorable when I told him he could drive it home for us. He was like a little kid getting the toy he'd always wanted.

"Of course." I bounced in my seat a little bit. As we headed on down the road, my heart sped up. So by now we have been married a couple of months, I wouldn't have imagined it but I'm in love with him a little bit more every day.

"You could take a picture. It'd last longer." Joey smirks, as we pull off for lunch. At where else? Chick-fil-a, but of course.

"I couldn't do this to a picture, though." I say as we get out of the car, and I lean up on my tip toes, wrapping my arms around his neck.

Joey stares into my eyes, a bit breathless, and we haven't even kissed. "Forget the picture." He sighs. "Have I told you that I'm glad your finally, officially, my forever love." Tears pool in his eyes.

"A few times...every day." I wink, then kiss him. Joey kisses me back gently, but the proof of his lasting love is evident. Again, I praise and thank God that we waited on too much 'romantic contact.' It had been a bit tough at times. We had our first kiss when we got engaged, then our second at our wedding.

"You're beautiful when your lost in thought." Joey pulls back my hair, pushing it behind my ear, as he whispers.

I shiver, "you say that about anything."

"It's true." Joey says, leaning forward to plant a kiss on my forehead.

We lace our hands together and as we make our order, then eat, I think of the time we have already spent together in marital bliss.

We talk of where we have been in this month. It was like a tour of places we wanted to go. We had went to the Creation Museum, then we had made our way back down south. We had hit up Cherokee, North Carolina, where I had got to relive a child memory and see my heritage alive. Then Chincoteague & Assateague Islands, where Joey had slipped off and bought me two foals. I, of course, had cried, because that was my little girl dreams come true from the first moment I had read Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry. We had then ended up in Orlando, Florida. We had taken in Disney World, Holy Land Experience, and even popped down to watch Winter and Hope the dolphins at Clearwater Aquarium. Our last stop before going back home to Nashville was Jesus of the Ozarks. It had been a full, but rewarding vacation. And I had been blessed  to spend it with the man that God had made just for me.

"So." Joey stroked my hand from beside me in the booth of the restaurant.

"I zoned out again.... Sorry." I smiled, sheepishly.

"No big deal. What were you thinking about?" He pulled me close.

"Our grand adventures." I smiled at him brightly. "Now I'm thinking of how my best gal pal is going to be my sister by law."

"My brother has been texting me like crazy," Joey said nuzzling closer.

I laughed a little bit too loud, gaining the looks of several other customers. "Poor Lynn has been the same way. I can't lie I was a little nervouscited myself."

"You sound like Lyric's friend." Joey laughed, shaking his head.

I shrug. And my mind drifts again. "I never saw this coming back when I first came to Nashville. The crazy adventure I have had in the last few years."

"I like crazy." Joey leads me back to the car, opening the door up and helping me inside.

There was a pleasant silence, until I broke through as we were in sight of our beautiful home in Nashville. The place that may be, just maybe, we would raise a family of our own someday. "Did you ever see this coming? Like even in the midst of my troubles and life endangering accidents." I questioned

"Every now and again. I hoped. There was one moment...." Joey swallowed a lump in his throat, then as he stopped the car, he came around to my side of the car without another word. He picked me up in his arms bridal style and carried me into our house.

"Joey," I giggled, "we've done that already." I said, indicating the action of the groom carrying his bride over the thresholds.

"I'd do this everyday just to let you know how much I care if it took it." Joey whispered, tears trickling down his face.

I was still in his arms and I touched his face with careful fingers, wiping away the tears, kissing the spots where they had fell. "What were you saying, darling?"

He set me gently down on the couch, and when he sat down too, I cuddled up to his side. He stroked my hair, and watched me. He looked heavenward, whispering too low for me to hear, a prayer to God. He looked back to me with renewed strength. "I remember with aching detail when I first knew, beyond a doubt that, that I was in love with you and needed to spend my life with you."

I tilted my head, indicating that I was listening, even if tears were gathering in my eyes too. He continues, "I saw the green Camaro up ahead, up side down beside the road. Traffic was stopped, and my heart went right along with it. I knew it was you. I was praying like crazy that God wouldn't take you. It was then, as I watched them take your motionless body from the car, that I couldn't deny it any longer. I was in love with you. I sat by your bedside at the hospital, and I couldn't begin to imagine my life without you in it."

Both of us are a mess of tears, my voice crackles, "But, honey.... we weren't even officially dating."

"Didn't matter." Joey wipes my tears.

There's a knock at the front door, and the sound of sing song voices. That would be Donald and Lynn. The Anthem Men and their ladies. And all the little kiddos, even those that aren't able to be held yet. If you get my drift. ;)

We get up from the couch and answer the door, the party has begun. Celebrating life. JESUS. God. Our connected lives. Friends. Family. Love. And celebrating the fact that soon a new couple will tie the knot.

Lynn and I always wanted to marry brothers and our kids to be best friends. Now they can be cousins too. We never saw this coming.

But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. However, I eagerly anticipate the adventure ahead. It will be a blessed journey.

THE END... for now.... :)

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Yay!!! You have to listen to the song that Joey sang for Susanna at their wedding reception. It's called "Pretty Beautiful" by Danny Gokey. :D

Hey, everybody. I nearly cried *coughALOTcough* while writing this. It was like sending my babies off.

I hope you have enjoyed the journey that started back in October 2014, when I first started "That's What I'm Looking For". I added so many characters after that, that came to life all on their own. Some were going to have minor little roles, then BOOM it came to mean so much more. Now, here I am ending the fourth book.

Again. I hope you guys liked it. I will soon be updating the next, and probably (not including the 2 unfinished specials, last book of the series. This time featuring everyone's kiddos.

Also if you would like a short story of Donald and Lynn's wedding, let me know. I might just do it. I love those two. After all, Lynn is based off of my long time dear friend Princess_Ari_GodGirl. So this thing might just happen, but I want to know what you guys are thinking.

Bye for now.

God bless,

Belle Tanson  * <3 *
