Epilogue

No one questions the Zemrlt girl that barrels down the hallway. It's most likely got something do with Prince Vincent. I burst outside and head straight for the stables. There's two horses saddled up and waiting. Blood flashes across my vision. I take the one horse, some part of me registering that this is my horse from the night of the feast. She quickly moves into a gallop at my urging.

All my thoughts are in one big tangle. I keep seeing the Dark Angle covered in blood. He didn't seem like that in the red room, or the memories I saw. Were those even real memories? I feel like a small piece on a chess board. Bodil gained my trust, and then used me to set him free. Did I trade one monster for another? My thoughts are plagued with these questions for the entire ride home. My horse knows the way even if I'm not directing her.

It's a few hours before sunset by the time I get back. My horse trots down the main road and to the corral. I pass a few other people, and they all look up at me with curiosity. I'm sure that Rainya explained my plan to Donnel and everyone else. They've all been waiting for me to come back. By the time I dismount at the horse pen, my sister is already squishing me in a bone-crushing hug. "Oof, Hey Rainya. Still in one piece, so you don't have to strangle me", I quip. It's better to pretend that everything went well. "I always worry", she says, finally letting me go, "So where's the Dark Angle. Did he leave?". I only nod in response.

"Kelini, you're back", Donnel smiles as he walks up to us. I hope that I didn't worry him too badly. "Donnel, the King is dead", I say bluntly. He and Rainya both freeze in shock. "I even met the prince. He'll be a much better ruler", I continue, "But I think that I'm going to go lay down for a while". Just as I turn away, Donnel stops me. "You've played a brave part in all of this, Keeli". His words send a shiver down my spine on the way back to my house. That's my new name. Keeli. It shows my bravery as a warrior for having a two-syllable name.

My bed has never looked so inviting. My mind is still whirling from the day's events. I don't know what to think anymore. I basically collapse face down on the blankets. What a wonderful day, am I right? A muffled shuffling makes me stiffen. That sounded like it came from underneath the bed. Careful not to rustle the sheets, I carefully pear over the bed. I move just in time to see a pair of horns get wedged between the bed frame. "What the hell!? Why are you under my bed, stalker!?", I scream, jumping up to the other side of the room. The Dark Angel's laugh has the same weird accent from the red room. "Sorry for the intrusion, your highness. Do you mind helping me out from this Demon trap?", he smirks. He looks ridiculous stuck under the bed like that. All I see is him covered in blood.

I back up towards my room door, intent on going to get Rainya or someone else to help me...... I don't know what to do with him. Bodil's eyes widen when he sees this. "W-Wait, I wanna talk to you. Please don't leave...... I won't hurt you", he trails off. His face changes from the smirk to one of sadness and desperation. I recognize it from the red room, and the his loneliness from the memories. My hand drifts away from the door knob. I slowly walk back over to the bed and grab onto the wooden frame. Bodil mutters a 'thank you' while crawling out. He must of been pretty cramped in their with his wings. The black covering is gone from anywhere but his wings and hair, but those must have be naturally black.

I step back from him when he stands up. Bodil's at least six inches taller then me, and I have to look up to see his face. He seems almost as uncomfortable as I am. Dried blood coats his leather jacket and white undershirt. A comical, striped, and clip on tie hangs from his neck with the bottom torn off. Bodil's horns are twisted like a ram's. This is the first time that I've been able to see all this outside of the red room.

"So..... I'm Bodil. Dark Angle", He eventually says, grasping at straws. "I'm Keeli". "Keeli? I thought you were Kelini? I could hear your voice from inside the crystal", Bodil says in confusion. Looking at the crystal now, the red color is a dull gray. "No, my name changed after helping to kill the King", I cringe. The gruesome scene still make me want to vomit. "I-I....... I didn't do that on purpose, you know", Bodil stumbles, "You're the first person that's wanted to help me in a very long time. My contract hadn't finished receding, but you were in danger. Demons are a bit more instinctual then I'd like to admit". He's trying to cover up the fact that he was totally out of control in that moment. But it was to protect me. I don't know what to say.

The Dark Angle awkwardly shifts in place before speaking again. "Well, I better go. Lots of old friends to mess with, ya see", he says with some of his old cockiness. It's more playful then the dead King's. I see straight through the lie. Bodil turns to leave, but I grab his hand before he can get to the door. Heat still radiates off him like before. He freezes in place. I'm a bit surprised at my own actions. This is a murderer that I'm touching, and yet, he's also the one to defeat a god to save his friends. I saw the army in the red room once.

"I know that you don't have anywhere to go", I say, "So stop keeping up the 'lone wolf' wolf act and stay for a while". A bit more of my sass slips into the last part, but I really do mean it. Bodil turns back after I speak, confused, but still holding my hand. "You'd want a Demon skulking around? I'm not exactly a cuddly teddybear", the Dark Angle huffs with a sly smile. Even while speaking, he unconsciously takes my other hand and his wings drift down hover around me. The broken one still bugs me. I look Bodil in eyes, now being a dark red, and I playfully smirk with all the fire of the Neather. "Not like you have anything better to do, Six".

A/N

Did you like that?

I tried my best for a sweet ending, so I hope you do. Most of my stories take place in the same world at different times, and Bodil is the only immortal that had no purpose. He was a bit of a loose string that needed a resolution. Immortality is extremely lonely when you can't be around others. It takes someone extremely special to convince another to give it up.

But this isn't the end. This isn't the last time that you'll hear from Keeli and Bodil. A different book with a different main character takes place right after this. With the Sorcerer's four tasks complete, he can finally live his happy ending. Also, who have you heard of that uses solar panels? Did you notice them in this story? They have one more card to play in the near future.

Hopefully you guys will sick around to see this world's history unfold.
